At least 150 games for 50$, SC2 for a whole season and with downloadable VOD's.
Sounds pretty damn awesome to me, why are you so reluctant to pay for esports?

Wow, trying to get e-sports to take off and the first major tournament is charging money just to watch it.

Wow, this is really, really sad for SC2 and the growth of e-sports, and seems like a bit of a money-grab to me. Why not charge for the high quality streams like other places have?

This is extremely sad news.

This is unfortunately how things will be done for me. i'll pay probably 8-10 dollars over the month to watch idra and TLO play, even though what i was looking forward to most was seeing the koreans play.

This guys at GOMTV aren't so smart. I mean, is the first tournament that they are doing, i think they should've used this one to promote and make the fanbase of competitive sc2 bigger and afterwards trying to fee it.

its cheaper than sky sports and i only get that to watch 4 footy games a month. 20 dollars is pretty good deal for 150 games and although some people cant afford it its still not an unreasonable amount to pay in my opinion

There are just so many other ways they could have made money without alienating the community.

This is so depressing.

And holy fuck is it just me or is it crazy overpriced??

$50 a season(month?) isn't supporting eSports, it's daylight robbery when judged alongside the offerings from other companies.

Conditions that have to be met for me to be willing to pay for such a program:

1. Absolute top quality of content, both technically and "artistically".

2. Be able to watch anywhere anytime, e.g. no separate charging for streaming/VODS, which is especially important because it is global, and there are timezones and people (yes, even starcraft nerds) have lives and schedules.

3. No ads, period. I'm not paying for your privilege to commercially brainwash me. No sponsor clips, no sponsor shout outs, no big sponsor banners in the stream. T-shirts and stage posters are unavoidable I guess. Ads are something I tolerate in free content, but nowhere else.

Well I don't want to defend the Evil Gom but they already did it and we all know it costs shitload of money to have the servers and bandwidth across the world to deliver HD video.

I'm really ok with the fee and in my mind, I'd be willing to pay 1$ for 1 day or 15$ for 1 month.

I think 99cts would be the best offer and 9,90$ / month, it sounds cheap and reasonnable.

If they charge 2$ per game and 39$ for a month, it's a different story.

Wait WTF there is a separate charge for streams and for VODS?????

Are you kidding me with this bullshit?

I could buy a new copy of SC2 for the price it will cost me to watch one month of GSL. Lol, what an absolute joke.

If they were in such dire need of money to be supported, maybe they should cut back on expenses like hiring popular Korean musical groups to perform.

We can support esport through promotion and contributing to the community.
We watch sports on TV without paying - every match in the world cup is boardcasted for free. Just because I didn't buy a ticket into the stadium doesn't mean I don't want to support the sport.
