I hope that Blizzard will fix the replay problem within the next week so that older replays can become watchable again (and thus the games between TLO and Nony can be cast!).

This would have to be fixed in the form of a patch, right? If the beta is over, then such a patch could not be released, and therefore we couldn't watch the games... right?

Unless someone not from blizzard comes up with a solution that works. Could happen.

Fantastic Finals!

I honestly wasn’t excited at all, I just wanted to see theLittleOne and thought it would be boring. I was so wrong. Both players were incredible.

Congratulations Husky and HD, great first tournament. I’ve done some things to support you.

- Subscribed to both your channels.
- Downloaded Irip and wrote them and said thanks for supporting HDH.
- Wrote Blizzard (hope you don’t get in trouble because of it)
- Wrote YouTube about partnership
- Contacted Coca-Cola, NVIDIA, AMD and HP about sponsoring you

My girlfriend heard your cast, she is not a fan of SC2, but she said she will have dreams/nightmares about your voices.

Best wishes

If you really did all this your a hero

Oh, the irony: Sen beat White-Ra on EVERY map that IdrA lost on, but lost on LT (the map that IdrA won on) and Scrap Station (which was never played here).

wow that's really interesting
maybe white-ra looked at those matches and decided he needed to change the way he plays there, while idra took a look at those matches and expected the same style.
Cant remember though how exactly white-ra played in the matches vs sen.

According to TL's calendar, Sen vs. White-Ra was played on Thursday, while I think IdrA vs. White-Ra was played on Wednesday. From what I remember, White-Ra basically used the exact same strategies as he did against IdrA because hey, they worked. Unless IdrA showed his replays to Sen, I don't think Sen could've prepared specific counter-builds in advance. In any case, he didn't seem to (unlike his games vs. TLO where he obviously came up with a strat to counter the fast mech play on LT)

hm interesting
didnt white-ra go for some more aggressive builds though? Well I might be confusing it with the first series white-ra and sen did. Anyways, sen is a freakin beast after all.

First of all, thank you Husky and HD for hosting what proven to be a pretty entertaining and fun to watch tournament. Also, great job to all the players. Overall, it was a good experience, however...

First off, if you're going to take this seriously - please try to prepare yourself a bit better. You've had huge issues with the streaming setup and whatnot in the first few rounds which is fine for your first tournament but not so much assuming the magnitude and prizes. Especially on the livecasting bids, a thumbs down for both of you.

The commentary was decent for the most part (ok, I might be spoiled after listening to a lot of Day9) but there were areas and matchups where you were blatantly oblivious as far as the strategies go. I completely understand it's a lot of information to know, especially from being still in beta - but again, if you're really serious about this then take some time and read up, even ask people. I'm pretty sure that if you shrug off your pride and ask the pro's (any top level player) they can give you a few hints on what to check, usual strategies etc on any matchup they're familiar with.

What really pushed my buttons and made me write up this post (I would probably not have bothered otherwise) was this little thing I SSed here,

You are seriously upset about a joke he made from a disconnect? Not the funniest, but come on.

As for the streaming, most of the problems in the beginning was because of the unexpected high viewer count that crashed livestream and switching over to ustream on a whim isn't exactly easy. I'm at least prepared to give them a little leeway on that. Sure, things could have been better, but once they got ustream going it worked as well as any stream I've watched on this site. Did you have any problems with the semis and final for example?

As for their knowledge of the game, it is not perfect, but I don't think it's because of pride. Such things take time, and if they didn't have it before the tournament, there is only so much you can do during it. That's my 5 cents anyway.

Nah, that was the first series. In the latest match-up, which I just reviewed again, White-Ra went the following strategies:

Metalopolis: forge expand into colossi mass expand, same strat as against IdrA; Sen countered with overlord drop, speedling harass, corrupters, and mass hydras (with a few roaches to tank)

Steppes of War: early zealot pressure into forge expand into 4/5-gate pressure, pretty much same strat as against IdrA; Sen countered with his own FE, mass speedlings + 3 queens for defense, into mass sunkens to hold off the 4/5-gate pressure, into multiple drops in White-Ra's base that forced the gg

Blistering Sands: early zealot pressure into forge expand, never got past the forge part because Sen ran 6 zerglings into his base and then rushed one-base roach to break the choke before White-Ra was able to get cannons up

Desert Oasis: forge fast expand into 6-gate pressure (which I guess is a deviation from his build here, since I think he went straight 4-gate here), which took out Sen's early third but was not able to pressure into his natural due to well-placed sunkens and a significant number of zerglings and mutas; White-Ra then tried to get colossi out but Sen managed to snipe both of his nexuses and most of his probes with mutas and zerglings, forcing him to all-in even though there were nearly 12 sunkens at the choke; Sen brought the mutas back and it was gg

Honestly, if I were White-Ra, I'd probably be scratching my head after the matches vs. Sen, wondering why the strategies that won the HDH weren't working anymore. But knowing White-Ra, he's probably already working out new strategies

-WORKING REPLAY LAUNCHER-

Here's an Asian launcher which I've been using to play and watch replays when BNet has been down and confirm that it works with the new patch. A previous version I had was in English so I'm familiar with the placement of the buttons but the updated one is completely in Chinese.

Anyways, here are screenshots of the English version so you can use it as a guide for the updated one to access the replay manager and get it running:

I believe I tried that one and it didnt work. I'll give it a shot again though.

Also, as for the screen shot, WhiteRa and us were actually joking around quite a lot between games. He is a very nice player .

I'm sure it wasn't something mean or whatever, but this is why we can't have nice things. 20k people on stream, if you take it as a joke so will everyone else. I know I might sound like a retard / whiner etc, but look at Korean contests. If you treat it like a fun showmatch or friends having fun, it's hard to get this closer to mainstream.

Just trying to provide input - feel free to ignore me.

The difference between Idra vs White-Ra and Sen vs White-Ra is simple. Sen actually uses his brain.

Idra = speedy mechanical monkey
Sen = high apm genius

Also, this tournament really makes you think about how nearly impossible it is to live off being a pro-gamer. White-Ra just spent a month winning $2500. If he could do this every month (meaning there would have to be a tournament, AND he would have to win every time), he would still be making a "decent" wage. Granted, that's US standards, which is why we're the last country to have any sort of true e-Sports.
"Well it’s obvious that these Terran gamers are just extremely gifted when it comes to RTS games" -Ret, in regards to the first months of SC2

Next time around, stick to checking the OP. VOD links will surely be there. Also, the casters channels will have them on on-demand.

Regardless, you will normally have to wait for a day or two.
