In zvz when you go late gas style roaches (Snute style). What to do vs oponent with fast ling speed that takes quick third?

I usually find myself in position with faster upgrades and bigger roach count. But defenders advantage is too big in ZvZ for me to break them.

How do you properly hold double rax proxy reaper?

In this replay I wanted to produce queens constantly while holding the reapers back with zerglings but I couldn't get a comfortable number of queens out since he already had 5 reapers when my first 2 popped, so he was able to kill them pretty easily. He won that game with 0 units lost.

Everything else being equal, you had enough excess resources to get the first queen 15 seconds earlier and the second queen 8 seconds earlier. After your first 4 pairs of lings you spent the next four larvae on drones instead of lings.
Had you built the queens in time and not droned, you could have held.

You might wanna check this vod Snute_Roach_play. Snute explains in details exactly what you are looking for
Basically what he would do in that scenario is to take his own fast 3rd (just not as fast as his opponent's) and then adding 2nd & 3rd gas while teching to speed roach +1 (lair first!).
Upgrades will kick in so fast that you are able to put pressure back on your opponent and make them count.

What VOD buddy?
I'd love to see it as well.

What's the best way to play against Gateway expand that goes for early MSC + 2 Zealots harass ?

Remember that P can always recall out so don't make too many units. Get the queen from main to help at natural and both of them should focus mamacore. Zealots usually focus one of them so kite with one while the other keeps attacking. (queens beat mamacore in a 1v1) From my experience about 12-16 lings is a comfortable amount (I suck though).

I'm sure this has been asked so I apologize in advanced, but I am losing to late game protoss with the Mass voids/colossus and sometimes tempest/HT composition.

Need advice on unit composition, engagement ideas, and general strategy. Thanks.

Couple things you can do.

hydra/swarmhost/ultra/viper (with some infestors if you choose)

hydra/ultra/viper/infestor

Swarmhost + mass static defense + viper + queens and can do corruptors (abducting the voids into spores and shooting them with corruptors).

When I think of something else, something will go here

Thanks, I haven't tried anything with the Viper yet so will definitely be adding them. Would the binding cloud be effect here as well?

I've heard talk of a fast +1 carapace build for ZvZ. Can someone break it down for me and explain what it entails? An exact BO would also be nice.

No, the blinding cloud would be mostly ineffective in this situation. Abduct is the better spell there.

you open standard way you do, with hatch pool gas in any order. then you get evo chamber @ 100 gas, start armor, then speed right after while you stay @ 1 gas.

This build is vulnerable versus early bling busts, but once armor is done you can easily pressure into 3rd with few bling or none, while you get yours.

Hi, I've got a few questions regarding ZvZ. I understand that now the meta is to go roach/infestor and add hydras later. Can anyone give me a build order, either food or timings. When do I throw down the roach warren? How do you defend ling bane agression (is a baneling nest mandatory before lair?) Thanks.

I've tried pure roaches, it just dies slowly since I can't ever get close to the immortals.
I've tried roach bane queen, but I also got smashed. The banes go through the first round of zealots but then I couldn't keep up with the reinforcements.
Now I am working on making additional queens for the engagement, I think if I begin reacting to the build at 7 minutes, I can have 7 Queens in the engagement, and about 10 banes. I think one of the key is to get additional gases, and begin Queen production...
Protoss usually hit with HSC, 1 Prism, 2 immortals, and 10 zealots at 9:00

If anyone can provide some replays that'd be great.

Thanks.

Scout their main base - check for gases. If he only has one he's doing the mantrain.

Then get bane nest, spread some creep, roll over his army with 15 banelings and cleanup with lings. Make sure banelings don't hit the immortals.

Hey Henk. Can you show me a replay of this? I know how to scout and what to make, but I've never made the engagement happen.

Hey there. Sadly I don't have any replays (it's a while since I've played against it) but it basically consisted of me having 15+ banelings and engaging him when he's on creep, then clean up with lings. I usually go 1/1- 2/2 into ultra afterwards, although they usually just leave.

Okay. Please P/M me when you get across one of these games again.
Few questions. Do you wait until he wasted more warp-ins to engage with his zealots so your banelings are more efficient? How were your unupgraded lings able to cleanup when the immortals could hide inside warp prism and additional +1 zealot warp-ins are incoming?

You should be able to hold this with pure roach
You clean his zealot up, especially if you have speed on the roaches (semi fast lair)

I have been having a lot of trouble trying to reach 42 supply before my larva pops in the zvt build section of glons guide where you take a fast third instead of teching up. here is the link: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=401063#1.0

can someone help me try to reach 42 supply before my initial larva pops from the hatch in my main and natural? the reason is that i would like to use that larva to saturate two geysers in order to tech up. i can only get to 38, my goal is to get 32 drones, 16 in each min field and 2 sets of lings, plus the 4 queens. so thats 42 supply, the thing is that i can't get those 32 drones out before my larva pops and i just want to do this build as clean as i can.

I'm trying to figure out this ZvP I played on star station the other night. The toss player tried an immortal/sentry all-in (moved out late and failed), then tried to take an (also late) third, which I denied, while killing off a big chunk of his army and taking my 4th. He retakes his third as I'm droning my 4th, then double expands and I'm unable to deny them, and he also moves out with a zealot/archon force that completely crushes my swarm hosts. I've watched the replay and I still can't figure out how he managed to build up such an army. If someone could check the replay for me and tell me what I did wrong that would be great.

The build he did wasn't the traditional sentry immortal all-in. He got the twilight council as well as the third behind it. That's why he moved out late. I would question your decision to target the third nexus, i think you could've easily killed the army then take the base later. Evaluating 14:30, you're not as ahead as you probably thought you were. Hes been keeping up with upgrades and tech very well and you lost some lings inefficiently versus better up zealots before your +2 carapace kicked in. Loses were even on both sides, while you didn't seem to have an economic lead. You had three bases, but less drones, third was not saturated. He actually has all his tech up and ready to go while you only got roach tech. His 3rd actually got rebuilt earlier, and he had probes there earlier.

While mass roaches needed to be traded, you just sort of parked the army between the planetary nexus and his chargelot archon army, and didn't try to trade them away more efficiently. The SH comp was okay, he just caught you between spawns and killed everything.

In short, he had very nice tech and comp advantage while you weren't really ahead economically and were unable to get favorable engagements.
