Hello there
Been using The Core for quite some time now, and yesterday I tried the newer beta build. Some cool changes, I am however curious about the reason Stim is moved from I to / (playing TRM)? Seems strange to me.

It's not just Stim. Unit ability 2 in general is now Slash, with the exception of Zerg which now has Slash as ability 4, or more commonly unburrow.

However, this particular case is because of Unload being on I. Emergency Thrusters was forced to Slash in favor of a quicker Unload, so since Marines and Medivacs are used together so often, and especially because Stim and Emergency Thrusters are used together so often, Stim was moved to Slash as well.

This is all speculation on my part, but imo it is practically proven because the Marine, Marauder, and Medivac commands are grouped together in the doc.

If/when Blizzard decides to patch the rapidfire keybinding, all I ask is that they consider doing something about the rigid modifier keys while they're at it.

Does anyone feel that this feature is truly broken though? I see it as a clever way to remove a lot of tedious clicking, but in the case of mass-Sniping, I can see why is *could* be an issue.

Here's the next big question: How do you guys feel it affects Warp-ins? I feel like it's a very, very big deal when you've got a lot of Warpgates down. Not broken, but the advantage is clearly present for the rapidfire user.

What do you mean by rigid modifiers? Do you mean the fact that modifiers cannot be used for anything on the command card? It is really annoying, but I don't think they'll fix it at all, considering Blizz actually patched out the notepad-editing exploit which enabled that.

By rigid I was referring more towards the reliance on third-party programs to move the Shift key and other predetermined modifier keys around. SharpKeys is a good example of something that does Blizzard's work for them, yet isn't legal for tournaments, at least not in offline events. If they have the power to disable Alt+Tab & the Windows key then why is this not included yet? Shift may be a large key and usually accessible, but Ctrl sure as hell isn't, and it's one of the only three modifier keys for use.

http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/game/guide/gameplay-overview
Scroll down to the "SELECTING UNITS AND BUILDINGS" selection and you'll see subsections of "Shift Selection" and "Queuing Commands". I think Blizzard had decided for whatever reason that the key for this was Shift and always will be Shift. A very sad fact for hotkey enthusiasts who want to create tournament-legal layouts that want to make use of predetermined modifiers.

The technology just isn't there yet I suppose.

Edit: Has anyone else tested Warp-ins with rapidfire? Any second opinions on that?

RE Rapidfire:

1) with creep, how do you make 2 or more queens spread tumors?

2) I don't understand how to do this with corruption. All my corruptions go on the same unit.

The more I think about it, the more I feel that rapidfire isn't useful enough. 90% of the time you're only wasting a ton of energy.

@ninjury

i simply deviate a bit from the creep spread method by moving thumb to shif after selecting all queens so you can queue tumors then go back to cam placement and move on.

Maybe the way you enable autocast on an ability should change, because using alt + ability's hotkey centers the camera at that unit, too.

I don't think we can change that, unfortunately. We can change center on selection, but it is very good for base cams.

@Organnon,

I'd like to find a way to do it without needing to move the thumb from ctrl. I know we can just press the key once for each queen, that's the only way I have found to do it.

@Thayneq,

What have you been doing?

I'm kinda ambivalent about this rapidfire creep spreading idea. On the one hand it IS super fast. However I really feel it lacks precision.. in that they come out so quickly it clumps all of the available creep tumors right next to each other, this means that A) they're potentially easier to clear en masse and B) though your creep highways will potentially spread quicker they won't be as wide/it's harder to spread them out, which kinda sucks. I'm not sure it's worth sacrificing the control for an increase in speed on an action that's already extremely quick and well optimised.
I am terrible at this game!

@spaceboy

i had the same thought and then i tried it... it does clump a bit but i started moving the mouse faster along the border of the creep and it turns out quite well for me, i gues it comes with use... either way it's just a not so important thingy nothing directly impliant of thecore

@ninjury

i get that soooo sooo much... but as i was writting the above, a thought came to mind... have you tried holding CTRL + SHIFT to do the hole process? it does deselect clicked units... but if u don't have any selected does it work??? i'm not into these things deep...

The problem with ctrl shift is that ctrl is used to add units into cgs, and that it (and not ctrl + shift) selects all the creep tumors.

This isn't something Blizzard can really do anything about, certainly not with any cost-benefit analysis in mind. It's just how the game receives user input from the operating system.

This, however, is something Blizzard could do something about.

@ Jak, Jdub, Sixtus

I just dled the most recent zrm beta. Center on selection, as well as all the base cams, required ctrl in addition to alt.

Are you sure you got the US version? Sounds like you downloaded one of the other keyboard layouts that has AltGr on the right-hand side. Looking at the GitHub, the US Qwerty ZRM in the main folder does not have Control+Alt for base cameras.
