My 2 pesetas: Against zerg you'd want ranged attack upgrades for roaches. Against terran you'd want armor upgrade first for your lings, then melee from a second evolution chamber. Against protoss you'd want 1 ranged attack for roaches in the midgame, then melee/armor to prepare for the late game. I also use 2 spires to upgrade my brood lords in the late-late game. I tend to build 3 evo chambers and upgrade everything. Hasta la vista, baby. | ||

If u are going standard roach/hydra or roach/infestor usually range attack upgrade is all you need. The sooner the better, get it when you can afford it. If u are going Zergling/ Infestor into fast Ultralist you want double upgrades (melee/ carapace) to avoid getting owned by roaches (roaches with +1 upgrade 2-shot Zerglings without armor Upgrade) ZvP: Many different styles here. I think we can call roaches THE standard unit to go with in current ZvP, so range attack is what u want ofc. In a standard scenario with Protoss going FFE into gatewaypush, you might want to delay the first attack Upgrade until the push is defended. Some Pro's use to go very fast +1 carapace to make Zerglings more viable in defending these gatewaypushes with Zealots, as it takes Zealots 3 hits to kill a Zergling, but 2 if they are ahead by 1 upgrade. Imho you shouldnt really care about going double evo vs Protoss until lategame. ZvT: Ling/ Infestor > Ofc super greedy with upgrades, you never want to have your double evo's sitting around doing nothing, in a perfect world you want to hit 3/3 at 12-15 minutes. Ling/Bling/Muta > While upgrades are still important, you might want to delay them to get out enough Banelings to defend or to get out mor Mutas to harass. I usually favor melee upgrades over air upgrades as soon as i have +1 attack for my Mutalisks, but you might see some Pro's do it other way round. ________________ In the end i want to say that learning SC2 works best watching Pro's games and just adapting their playstyles. Just knowing some basic things about upgrades wont push you to Masterleague. ![]() gl hf | ||
