The craziest part? I still have MASSIVE room for improvement. The new openings are still not ingrained. The timing differences have screwed up my scv production. I will likely take a good chunk of time now just focusing on one opening and getting it down pat (probably the 15 gas reacotred rax open - I like the early rines for defense and widow mines, plus it ties nicely into a 4 widow mine drop). Thank you so much filter. Until I found your series in WoL I played a very gimmicky style reliant on some cheesy ass tank timings. It would work against bronze-gold. However, solid macro players with any brains shut it down HARD. I had no idea how to build an economy or think long term. Though I never moved up a league in WoL my mechanics became much much better. Now in HOTS, though my scv production has faltered due to new opens, my general mechanics in other departments help me win games.

If you have such problems with cheeses, I think you should: 1. Identify what cheeses are used against you 2. Learn how they work, e.g. timings+compositions and what scouting information can help you identify them 3. Learn how to counter them with the builds you currently use For example, if you play terran gasless FE and get 4-gated a lot: 1. The cheese is 4 gate - 1 early gas, 4 gates, usually proxy pylon 2. IIRC the 4-gate comes around 7 minutes with a mix of Zealots and stalkers from a proxy pylon. You can anticipate it if you spot 1 gas in his main, no FE, 2 pylons (3rd being proxy'd) and high nexus energy (which is saved for gateways to make units later on). You're looking for all this around the 4-4:30 minute mark. 3. In such case, once you spot the information, you would still do your regular FE build but would immediately throw down 3 bunkers and keep SCVs close by to repair them. You should be able to repel the attack and use your macro advantage to overwhelm him in a counter attack So you're still focusing on your standard play, making SCVs, managing macro but make slight adjustments based on what you observe. It'll take a while to recognize all cheeses and learn how to counter them with your builds but it'll pay off, you'll see.

I absolutely feel like these are great for learning mechanics at the macro level. The entire focus is less about strategy and more about making sure you have a solid backing so you can execute any strategy very smoothly.

I would like to gather as much information to have to most accurate benchmark while waiting hte video tutorial 10 minutes : - 2 bases with 60 probes - third expand started I do the 2nd expand around 4'30 I also expressed my difficulty to warpin units, I don't exactly know how to handle this while macroing effectively; I often fall behind my opponent because warpin is much more difficult than queing; I understand that I had to focus on warpin unit and less micro managing what I would like to know is what buildings should i ideally have at this time mark (I usually go robo for observer)

I also wanted to add that I'll be updating the thread for hots (probably just make a new). I dont want to add it too early though with minimal content, has to be at the point where there's a solid hots foundation in place. I'm sooo looking forward to that Filter ![]() Right now I don't even care about using the new units too much until I get these fundamentals right. So for now I've got enough food for practice, but still I can't wait :D I appreciate all the work u have done, u made learning Starcraft 2 much more fun.

I'm excited, as this is giving me something to focus on, rather than 'winging it' as I had a tendency of doing. My normal time supply-capped during 15 minute games would be around 2 minutes, but after practicing the very first lesson, it's down to less than 20 seconds for the same game length! I'm blown away by how much just focusing on building scvs and supply depots really helps. I can hit supply cap by 16 minutes now, which is unbelievable!

I was very impressed by your general ideas on thinking about improving and mindset while playing starcraft. I am a plat zerg; I am wondering how I can focus only on injects in order to satisfy the idea of trying to improve one thing at a time. It seems difficult to do, since clearly you need to be doing other things like making drones/units/overlords and scouting. I am wondering if you have any tips on this topic. Thanks for the help, Ninjury P.S. Are you planning on making protoss or zerg videos next?
