I've been playing a lot of team games lately; high Diamond in random 4's, mid Diamond in random 3's and 2's, and I've come across a build that enables you to get a ridiculous amount of roaches out very soon. Its similar to the ice fisher build popularized by Spanishiwa, and as long as you can get AA units from your team, you should stomp your opponent every time.
Build Order 10/10 - Extractor 9/10 - Drone 10/10 - Cancel Extractor 11/10- Spawning Pool 10/10 - Overlord 10/10 - Extractor 9/10 - Drone 10/10 - Cancel Extractor again 11-15/18 - Drones 15/18 - Queen 17/18 - Drone 18/18 - Hatchery at expo 17/18 - Overlord 17/18 - Drone 18-21/26 - Drones 21-23/26 - Overlord 23-26/26 - Drones As soon as expo Hatch pops, transfer 6 Drones to it, and make Queen. Continue to drone to 36, and at 36, make 2 Extractors in Main, then continue to drone. Once both Extractors pop, put 3 on each gas, and throw down Roach Warren.
You should have full saturation on both bases (minus gas at expo) before Roach Warren completes, and from there you can make a few rounds of Roaches, take a third, grab another gas, get upgrades, tech to Lair, etc. The first round of roaches usually comes around 7 minutes, so don't always rely on this build if everyone else is trying to tech obviously, but I've used in my last 10 or so games and lost once due to teammates not getting adequate AA. Even with dealing with pressure from other team I find myself maxed at 14 minutes or so, with +1/+1 upgrades, +2/+2 on the way, Burrow, etc.
So try it out, and tell me what you think Posting replays as soon as main desktop gets fixed!

So basically it's the 11/18 pool/hatch, into saturating two bases with three gas, then mass roaches while expanding.
What about early timing pushes? Early banelings? What about marine/medivac? What about tanks? What if your teammates are teching?
This will maybe work up untill diamond, but as Zerg you should focus on scouting what your opponents are doing and counter that. Or putting alot of early pressure with lings so that your teammate can tech up.
Relying purely on roaches are not a good overall strategy.
Edit: Didn't mean to sound overly harsh. This is maybe a good way to practise your macro up till diamond lvl in teamgames.

No, bring on the criticism. That's why you 11p. If your opponent puts on early pressure then you can make lings, or react to what theyre doing (say mass air), however, if you're playing with a few decent teammates they can usually hold early pressure. I've never had a problem with defending a 10p or even 2 with this build. You react as necessary to survive but go back to the core build in the end. I've had to tech to hydras before, and its not a problem. I know the 11p/18h and the Ice Fisher build are already out there, however I'm providing this for those that want a solid ground army build in team games. Even if they do get tanks your roaches can outnumber them by far. If you hold off early pressure with this build, and then push at the 10min mark with 110-130 supply, its highly unlikely your opponent will be able to stop the push.

If your goal is quick roaches, Ive come across a build that really gets them out fast and is similar to yours but without the expansion. I've never seen a build get roaches this quick and in these numbers. I like your original one alot, but the only drawback I could see is that it may not be fast enough for a 1v1.

Ooh that looks pretty awesome, might check it out tonight.

This build would only possibly work in 4's if your teammates are all one basing. In 2's and 3's on most maps you will get stomped by early aggression. When you build your hatch at 18 with no gas, you are incredibly vulnerable to pretty much any one base play (which is very common at the higher levels).
For reference, I am high masters in 2's and and am masters in 3's and 4's. You are much better off getting your gas at 15, building a few roaches, and then expanding. You can't defend much except for super early pools with just slow lings.
Anyhow, as someone already said, this isn't really a new build. This is just 11/18 overpool hatch which is already commonly used in team games.

Yes I agree with Nostrap and it would be better to rush to mutas in 4's, also if you have a decent terran partner for instance and he gets marines then this rush is better No queen roach rush and you get more roaches way faster, coupled with marines behind you can really punish the other team while your making evo and double queens back at home to defend air most likely and you can also transition to a spanishiwa build after the damage was done. It really punishes 2's where one of them techs to void or muta since early game roaches tank damage quite well with the marines in the back free to shoot down the few mutas or voids they can get out.

That's the traditional 7 roach rush right there :D (although, with a roach follow up instead of the expand I'd normally follow up with)
In 2v2 and 3v3 I like doing a push about 6.30 with straight Roaches, depending on what my partners are doing.
For that I roll a similar build except after dropping the Roach Warren on 18 I keep droning up until 21 food (3 drones on gas, 16 on minerals). Then I just produce straight roach. I get about 14 roaches at 6.30, drop a evolution chamber immediately (to get ready in case of DT or banshee rushes), and push out with my partner. From there, decide whether to build roaches or drones depending on how hard you want to push/transition.
The main weakness is that following the push we don't have map control for a while - as roaches aren't really map control units, and I've skipped zergling speed.
Haven't tried it in 1v1, as it feels too "all-in" for that style of play I enjoy in 1v1's.

I think if you're able to saturate 2 bases before making an army in a team game, you should be able to win in most cases.
If you're looking for a one-base build for team games, you might try something like this: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=195296
When I play team games vs mostly terran (especially in 3v3 vs 3 terran), I'll open with this build, as it's very good against both hellion and marine timings. (I've held off 3x 3 rax before using this build, although I have no idea where the rep is.)
It's nothing amazing, but a pretty safe and aggressive way to get ahead. vs the quality of opponents you would probably face in team games.
