Put 1 or 2 templar at your most droppable expansions i.e if you have 4 bases on Shak, your natural isn't likely to get dropped, and feedback the drops. It is such a cool feeling

how come I've never seen in PvZ a protoss ffe and then when knowing zerg will have an overlord above the natural gases take both natural gases early whilst pulling probes off of main gases and 6 gating?

Hey guys, couple of PvZ questions.
After I go for a FE and then go for a strong push/semi all-in like 7gate +2 Blink or a 2-3 immortal push with a bunch of gateway units, how much damage do I need to do? For example, if I kill their third plus a handful of units and they fall back to their natural and throw down some spines, do I have to push and try to kill them? Or have I done enough damage to tech up and take a third?
Also how is it different depending upon whether they went roach expand or if they teched straight to mutas and use all their extra larva to go mass ling when I move out?
Finally, if I am preparing for one of these attacks and when I scout I see they are staying on 2 base, do I contiue and try to break their front? Or do I just give up on attacking, cut unit production and tech up a little more then take a third?

That's genious.
I'll use that when i 8gate.

In PvZ, suppose I go forge first. Where is the line between trying to hold the front vs. letting the forge die and throwing a cannon in your main mineral line? I know vs. 6pool you should let the forge die, but what if it's a non allin 7pool, or 8pool etc.etc.?
|
What do you guys do when you can't FFE vs Z? Like when vz Random Zerg or on some maps? I always get out macroed and I don't know any 2 base all ins off of a 3 gate expo.
|
I've been struggling in PvT dealing with a terran who stutter steps well. (I'm a diamond level player btw) I can't ever seem to get FF's behind his army to stop movement, is there a technique to this that I'm missing?
|
okay, so on a large map like shakuras or Taldarim <-- hate
Im #2 silver and been 4 gating a lot to get there but now I'm playing against gold players and I lose most of the time with 4gate. This question is versus zergs who mass mutas off 2 bases.
I would FFE and go for 2 quick collosus while constantly making stalkers and once the 2 collosus are out, I would pust out and try to kill off 3rd or win the game right there. Is this a good tactic? 2 collosus isn't too much gas so I should have even stalkers to deal with his mutas.
And should I make sentries? I never make sentries when I FFE. Should I always make sentries?

Maybe try an hidden expansion or dts. When in doubt, Dts
Also, you shouldn't have to worry about zerglings when you FFE because you should already have a cannon out by the time he arrives at your base O____O. Unless he 6 pools and in that case drop more cannons....
I hope that works!

I find that when I play vs Random Zerg i will all-in them or something similar. Below is the build I use to get a lot of free (90% win rate) wins (high diamond playing low masters)

Hi all,
I was going to create a new thread but no need to clog up the forum on my behalf.
Here is my replay: http://sc2rep.com/replays/download/id/18302
Anyways just started playing again, 2nd PvP in months, 1st since being placed in Gold league this season. I am trying to learn the 3 Stalker Rush build to counter 4-gate. My opponent wasn't 4 Gating and I kind of lost my way. If anyone can analyse my replay and give me the best 'bang for buck' tips that would be great. I know I stuffed up a little in my scouting and also in letting him steal my gas for so long (I was actually confused and thought my Probes were attacking my own Assimilator... fail I know).
When your opponent is going 1-base Collosus (assuming I scout it with Obs): 1) Should I cancel my expo? 2) What can counter a Collosus push like this, do I just have my own Collossi as well? Or can Gateway + Immortals do the job?
Be BRUTAL with me if that's your thing!
Thankyou all.

Hopefully you got the help you needed from it.

of course you're struggling, your opponent can make stupid free units as well

:O Stuff like this makes TL the best. Thanks man! I took a lot of notes during your commentary and will work harder on my PvP. I think the most key points were: -building placement, allow for some movement/concaving at the top of my ramp -not being supply blocked -using my Robo more (it sat a long time between training) -scout better; I didn't actually see the robo support bay and didn't know so many collosus were coming -be quicker with building timings (warp gate for example)
One question, assuming I had followed your advice, getting 3-4 Immortals, even dropping them at the back of the Collo and sniping them, and held off his push, then what? Do I expand, or just go with army+probe and kill him? Cheers again.

I am not sure that answer is known yet. I have seen some blue posters inthese forums say that immortal expand can hold 1base colossus, others say that you can't. It's very micro intensive for sure, and yeah the warp prism idea is what makes holding possible.

Any good way to defend a 10/10 gate assuming you do a assimilator scout? Keep dying to this.

Any good way to defend a 10/10 gate assuming you do a assimilator scout? Keep dying to this. have you tried using a forge? That is the most reliable if you scout late. But you should scout proxy locations on 2 player after your gate anyway.

@theBALLS assim scout is way too late in my opinion I almost always usually scout at pylon/gateway and when I encounter a 10/10 gate I just build a forge and place a cannon at my mineral line and chronoboost zealots and pull off probes to distract the incoming zealots
