So is it ok to get a robo AND the 3 gates before expanding, or should I go 2gateway+robo instead? Is there any way to know that there will be like 30 lings and 5-10 roaches coming at me even after zerg has expanded? Do you guys send a probe out and look around before expanding? edit: TL;DR usually i get the 3 gates, expand with around 6-7 sentries, add a robo, but i'm thinking that getting an observer and faster immortals would be nice so maybe getting robo before expo would work?

Technique 1: The simple way Hotkeys 1-2-3(-4) = Units. 4 (or 5) All of your hatcheries. Next hotkey is: main hatchery + main queen Next one after that is: nat(short for natural) hatchery + nat queen Next: 3rd hatch + 3rd queen. … What you do is press 5(or 6) two times, press v and target hatch. 66v+target hatch 77v+target hatch. You press 4 (or 5) s(for select larvae) and then d(drones) z(zerglings) t(mutalisks) etc. In conclusion you have 55v*click*66v*click*77v*click*(…)4sdzttttttttttddzzzzzzdhhhhh etc. Technique 2: Backspace + Shift 1. Put all queens on 1 hotkey. 2. Select queens. 3. Press Spawn Larvae hotkey (v) 4. Press Backspace once to center on a hatch. 5. Hold Right Side Shift. DO NOT RELEASE. 6. Spam left mouse click + Backspace 7. All hatches are injected. Technique 3: Minimap injection 1. Put all queens on 1 hotkey. 2. Select that hotkey (and all your queens with it) 3. Press v once and hold left shift. 4. Target your hatcheries on the minimap and left click. DO NOT LET GO OF SHIFT. 5. All hatcheries injected. 6a. I was just wondering which of the following 3 methods of injection would be the easiest for a new RTS player to develop. The methods are from the "Playing Zerg in Starcraft II" thread. Macro out of your hatches by putting each separate hatch on 1 unique hotkey doing 5sddd6szzz7sttt8sddd9sddd0shhh (old school StarCraft 1 style) There's no agreement on what the best injection method is, so likewise, there really isn't a best injection method for new zerg players. Each method requires you to learn a specific motion that will feel unnatural first but then be fine with practice. So you should probably try all three at first and then do whatever feels most natural. What's more important than the method itself is having the mental fortitude to hit those injects on each cycle. (That being said, the minimap injection technique is the "easiest" method from a finger gymnastics point of view so if you're looking for something with low overhead you may want to start there.) Holding a 15 hatch depends on your ability to constrict the space between you main and natural so that your roaches can defend. On maps with long, awkward main-to-nat walks such as scrap station, it is very risky (although not necessarily impossible). See [G] ZvZ Surviving early game with 15 hatch and other related posts via search to see how people hold a 15 hatch against early aggression. Well there's nothing that sets or resets control groups other than the control group hotkeys. Double check your hotkeys and make sure that create/select/add control group 4 is bound to what you expect (ctrl-4, 4, and shift-4 by default, respectively). Also, double check that you aren't accidentally clicking the control group tabs at the bottom of the screen (which you can turn off via options -> game play -> control groups). Finally, you may want to test that your keyboard itself isn't faulty. Near the end of my last keyboard's lifespan, hitting keys near 1 would also trigger esc, so I would end up canceling tech and construction by accident.

Assuming you haven't modified your hotkeys setup and that you're never hitting "ctrl-4" by mistake (the fat fingering mentioned above) , it could be that your keyboard, computer or game are sometimes not registering the key up event (technical term to say when you release the key) of the "ctrl" key you had pressed when setting your last unit/building group. Most likely a problem with your keyboard (try to avoid wireless ones) but could be a sc2 bug (there are a few related to hotkeys, could have been introduced in last patch while fixing other keys related ones). + Show Spoiler + patch 1.2.1 (Mac) Fixed an issue that would cause the Control key to become stuck when holding Control and minimizing the game window, then going back to the game window and attempting to use Control+1 to create a control group.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem I had, but I would often accidentally rebind my building hotkeys to units or something like that by clicking furiously during moments of excitement and multitasking. I realized that I was right-clicking on the hotkey display at the bottom of your gaming screen (above the HUD) by accident. For example, if you have your hatcheries set to "4" and then you click on a scouting overlord and right click the "4" on this display, it remaps your overlord to the "4" hotkey and unbinds your hatcheries. It was pretty annoying. I fixed this problem by changing something in Options. I think under Options --> Gameplay, there is an option to hide the hotkey display or make it unclickable. PS I also had this problem with clicking on the F10 Menu button at the top of the screen by accident. There's a Gameplay option to make this button unclickable as well. I dunno if this helps.

Also if you are upgrading your +1 attack if possible try to get +1 armour at the same time. I find that it makes it more effective. I am only plat level though so take my response with a HUGE grain of salt

T_T4ever. Read this link. Yes, read it--all of it. Then think deeply in your mind, "All it takes is a number of games before my league matches the skill at which I play most of the time." Think you can play 30 games at a diamond level? Play them. Still not diamond? Play another 20. If your MMR hasn't stabilized within the ranges defined by the next league by then, you still require improvement. Read How to Improve Efficiently for more advice on how to turn an estimated 30% winrate against diamonds into 50-60%.
