@OP: I still find using 4 for Hatches, and then 5,6,7,8 for queens to be most effective. I imagine with this method once you get used to it it will be faster, but the amount of possible error is much higher. Although I am going to keep my hotkey's set up this way because having grave for hatcheries is pretty sweet anyway.

CON of using shift: see your CON#1 point.

For example i always thought the ~ key was the TILDE key not the grave? Thanks ~ = tilde ` = grave They are on the same key. The OP keeps calling it grave(`) but then putting a tilde(~) in parentheses.

So, i made the notepad thing, saved it, went to make the folder (documents/starcraft II/) And where it SAYS in the guide there should be a hotkey folder, so, naturally, as it says, i make one (documents/starcraft II/Hotkeys/) Inside i place the Malpractice.sc2hotkeys file i made from the beginning (which, btw, still denotes the 'type' as a 'text document', is this supposed to be the case?) And i reload Sc2... Check menu, hotkeys... Nothing is there >.< Can anyone help me with this, or show me where to go to do so?

I actually thought the minimap injection method would be faster too. It turns out that using the town camera is a *lot* faster, especially if you use the shift method (which you should always use IMO, because it solves the problem of one inject order canceling another one) because there's no mouse movement. You're literally doing click~click~click~click which can be *very* fast. Seriously, try and time both methods, I think you'll be very surprised.

On the day9daily with TLO, TLO talked about how he used the minimap with all the queens on one hotkey while day9 talked about how he preferred the backspace trick because he finds it too hard to pinpoint hatcheries on the minimap. I've always liked the minimap myself, but maybe I am just a slow player :S

I've always liked the minimap myself, but maybe I am just a slow player :S No matter how fast and accurate you are with the mouse, click-key-click-key-click is always going to be faster than move mouse-click-move mouse-click-move mouse-click. If I recall correctly, though, one thing TLO specifically mentioned is that injecting via minimap still allows you to keep looking at whatever you're looking at, since it doesn't mess up your view. If you're really fast with the mouse and really accurate, that might be a deciding factor. For me personally, using the key (backspace, grave, W, whatever) method cuts the inject time by at *least* a couple seconds. (yes, I'm slow and inaccurate on the minimap)

I used this: select all queens, press v, hold shift and backspace click - this one works well.

its RIGHT NEXT to the left shift key, seems like a better idea to me.

I bind all my queens to 4, and then all hatches at a mineral location (sometimes I'll build an extra hatch in base). Then I just go location ##, 4, v, click (ex. 55 4 v click, 66 4 v click, 77 4 v click). Essentially each location has it's own hotkey, 5, 6, 7,etc. This way, I don't have to scroll with the mouse, and if I'm also faced with an attack in one location that needs queens to defend, I can just click 4 and send them all there. It also allows me to customize how I spend my larva, so I can choose my newest expansion and just make drones, while I'd want my earliest hatches to make army units. Not sure if you have this flexibility in the typical way. The only draw back I see is that my screen for a split second needs to be away from my army units. I've tried to solve this by just being faster with the hotkeys, and making sure that after I finish my last inject to immediately hit the hotkey of the pertinent army units. Am I just being inefficient? I haven't really played with other options much, but this intellectually seems like it provides the best of both worlds.

When you save as, change your "Save as type" to "all files" and save it as yourcustomname.sc2hotkeys worked for me (i used notepad++ but it should still apply)
