This map when it comes up in the 2v2 map pool, I just cannot seem to take an expo on this map. For those who do not play 2v2, the map looks like this:
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Discord_IV
Before I start, I play 2v2 primarily with my Zerg partner and I am Terran.
I am fairly slow to expand, so the natural outside our team high ground is usually taken by my partner. Now, I can expand before he does and that could solve my problem, but not my team problem.
Therefore, there are two locations that seem to be natural for me. The one that seems that is the actual natural, is the expansions at the 7 and 1 O'clock positions. However, the downside is that you have to cover the ramp to my natural, and the attack paths to my buddy's natural.
The other location which seems good to expand to is the nearest gold expansion. Taking the Xel'naga tower that is basically at the gold expansion. This allows tanks to have pretty good sightrange. However, the problem is that if drops or void rays where to occur, or Nydus, we can't get back in time since our army is at a fairly forward position.
I am wondering at expos do you guys take if the natural outside the team's high ground starting location is taken? Why do you choose this location?

If you are aggressive and have map control take the gold, otherwise take the one that is going to be easier to defend. Usually the one closer by ground.

I downvoted that map, because shared base and no expansion is like the shittyiest concept for a 2v2 map ever to think of. at general, i would advise you to take the safe expansions "near" your base. only if you really have mapcontrol you can take the doubleexpansion and trying to secure this position, as it gives you huge aggresion potential.
but my best tip: downvote it. its the worst 2v2 map ever made...

I guess that as terran it might be better to build a PF if you're expanding to one of the more vulnerable positions?
Also, if you control the middle area, then you can defend the pair of expansions at the side.

My ally always takes the nat, and i take the gold, if you are worried about voids sneaking around
throw down a sensor tower

I downvoted it as well. I think its one of the worse 2v2 map.

There are pretty much two options:
1. one of you takes the natural outside your base, the other takes the one in the corner (1 o'clock or 7 o'clock, depending on your starting positions). This however means that one of you will be more vulnerable. I suggest the terran should be the one to take the far out nat as he can build a PF to deal with harass.
2. Both of you expand to 3 (or 9) o'clock. There are two bases there with a shared ramp so it will be much easier to defend. The zerg could then take his third at the front of your stating base.
I usually play double zerg and I'll go for option 1, where it is me who gets the "short straw". But I manage to deal with it as I tech up to mutas fairly quickly and thus get map control. However before getting mutas it can be quite tricky as reinforcing from that base is just super slow.

This is THE worst map in the 2v2 pool, infinitely moreso for Zerg players (narrow ramp for a shared base 2v2, and extremely difficult to expand on). Downvote it and move on.
If you ever *have* to play on this map, then you absolutely MUST control the two Xel'Naga towers. It's not optional. If you don't control the towers, it's impossible to defend any expansion on the map outside of the 12 and 6 expos, and even those aren't going to be easy given how exposed they are. You run with a T partner, so have him put tanks on those towers, and park your armies in the middle of the map when you're not actively attacking.
Also, if you're a Zerg and slow to expand, you're going to have trouble regardless. Learn to expand at around the 20-supply mark. You should actually have a massive surplus of Minerals right around that point, anyway, because your queen will just be coming out and you haven't reaped the benefits of larva injections yet.

I also play ZT 2v2 with my terran buddy, we downvoted this map yesterday. Honestly the key to expoing here is to hold the middle, and this creates an awkward situation, if you control the middle you pretty much have control of every expo on the map minus the nat of ur enemies and the 9' assuming u spawn topside. Whereas if you don't control the middle you pretty much cant expo anywhere.
If you make turrets behind the mineral lines at the 3 and 9 expos you make urself almost impervious to air attack, and with ur army parked in the middle its never far to reinforce.
But yeah, if I were you guys I would downvote this map, easily the worst 2v2 map atm.
