You can't do it with 3 pylon blocks, you won't be able to sneak 2 drones because your ramp is blocked, he'll very likely follow your first drone (the one who built the hatch u cancel) and should never ever die to nydus if he's not a total idiot.
the most reliable way to break it is to build a roach warren straight away and gas, bust the pylon wall with roaches and hope to pressure him with those roaches and do some damage while getting your 3 bases and droning. But this tactic is not fair, everybody knows it except blizzard so you'll end up behind in most cases or be forced to all in. obviosuly vs map hackers (that's their favorite tactic) you simply cannot win unless they play with 1 finger.

Hi guys,
So lately my macro has been kind of off, which may have some influence upon this question; How do I beat a Terran having the following unit composition? - Raven - Banshee - Thor - Siege Tank - Hellion (with scv repair support)
I'm currently ranked as a top platinum player and I came across this composition against a low-diamond player, I played standard (which IMO is Broodlord/Infestor). I managed to kill off his army a few times with well placed fungals on his cropped up air army, good positioned roaches and neural parasites. (Brood lords had no role as I gave up on them already at this point, as seeing his army absolutely nullified brood lords). Eventually we both didn't have as massive armies anymore, but he had hellions and I had no gas so zerglings were my only option.. I lost the game obviously. ![](/mirror/smilies/puh2.gif)
Would it have been a better option to make Ultralisks? The idea only just crossed my mind, because I don't like using ultras, AT ALL. (Due to brainwashing when Destiny still played sc2 - He thinks Ultras are horrible, and thus so do I.)
Thanks for checking out my question, and I hope I'll be able to get good advice! :D

Cool, I'll look at it tomorrow! Expect reply at about 8-9pm.

I was wondering, is it there a big economic impact in placing my spine/spore inside my drone mining lines? cause it is a good choice sometimes but seems to mess up with the drones pathing.

Your early game is, and please don't take offense, worthless. You don't seem to have a build, or any plan on what you're going to go. You barely scouted and didn't know he was going mech until really late. I will suggest you use the 4 queen build, which I'll write the BO for in a moment.
Anyway about your game: You scout a 3rd CC, yet you still make lings, but don't attack. Either attack, or make drones. Your 3rd was extremely late. You didn't have an overlord on the ledge near his natural, which you should always have on cloud kingdom. You started hive, but didn't start spire right away. Your 4th was way too late. You supplyblocked yourself in a way that made me sick; you were at 150 supply and had enough money to max right away, but you were supplyblocked. You went broodlords, but had roaches to supplement them instead of corruptors. vs terran, you want 8-10 broodlords, 8-10 infestors, 80 drones, rest of your supply into queens and corruptors. TONS of corruptors. Like, 30+. Add more broodlords if you see he's fighting your BL with a lot of thors.
He was at 200 supply with RAVEN+MECH while you had 150 with roaches. Roaches are supply inefficient, and still your supply count is lower than his. And he had 15 CCs, haha.
So I just stopped watching at 25:00 because there was nothing to see, really. Staying on roaches = dead.
So, BO:
15H16P 2 queens, 2-4 lings 2 more queens 3rd base when your 3rd and 4th queen are at about 50-75%. 5:20 - 2 gas. Ling speed, 1/1, lair. (With first 450 gas, in this order) 2 more gas when lair starts, 2 more gas when lair finishes. I like to drop a RW when I have some minerals at about 6 min or so, to hold off hellions. (You don't have to, but you can.)
Poke his base with an overlord at 5-6 minutes to see if he's going for a quick 3rd, and if so, hold down the D button some more. Don't make lings yet.
At 8 min send in another overlord to see if he's going mech. If so, +1 roach attack, roach speed, 4th base, make 8 roaches, drone to 80.
Use 8 roaches to defend against hellions. Do not take eco damage from hellions/banshees.
I then like to pump out roaches while I'm getting drop+ovl speed, and drop his main while teching up to broodlords.
I hope this helped a bit. Let me know!

Hi there!
Of course, I didn't take any offense, I know I'm really horrible, and you're right, I don't have much of a build order, I always go 15h 14p 14gas when playing ZvT. And something that I never really had, was a plan, I ALWAYS choose to react as much as I can, which is totally horrible, I know.
I feel like your advice about making 8-10 brood lords, around the same amount of infestors and the rest into corruptors and queens is a rational choice, though I'm not really sure if I'd survive with those against ravens, but I guess that just comes down to micro.
Learning the build should take a little while for me, and pointers like poking his base at 5-6 mins should be basic stuff, but I'm too dumb to actually know about them, so your pointers are really useful!
So to let you know if whether your advice was useful or not, you should be able to tell that it totally was!
Thanks heaps!

Especially the ZvZ. You can easily look @ every build order, they're almost all viables. It's just the metagames that changes. Right now in ZvZ, lots of zerg like to go p15 h15 or 16 and get either bane if they don't see an expansion, or speed if they do. Then it's pretty much what you scout. ZvT, There's a build order above my post. Check it out. That's almost what all zerg does. Except I don't take a fast third, but that's just personnal preference. And finally ZvP, well... Forget about it. Not worth playing. If you can survive the early-mid game, then props to you. Now you need to micro the infestors/queens/BLs/corruptors and Supply. Good luck with that. Cauz in 2 years I didn't get the chance to train all of this because of the thousands allins the protoss cauz throw at you.
Hopefully someone can explain the matchup better than me cauz I simply gave up.
Cheer !

A question regarding ZvT. I love Ling/Bling/Muta, but I can't find a way to pull it off. I think I need a solid build order to follow. I tried Jaedongs version where you get early speed, but it seems very old school. What do you guys use for Ling/Bling/Muta? When should you transition out of Muta? When should you tech to hive after going muta? What Gas timings? Can you guys link me a guide to Ling/Bling/Muta that's more modernised? I'm a top eight Dia Zerg. Regards, Lucoda.

(How) can you reliably punish a protoss player who is pylon blocking you out of nexus first or one who goes gateway first, but doesn't build it at the ramp?

Hey, Masters zerg here thinking about changing his queen inject style. Currently i use the double tap queens on separate hotkey style. But i was thinking on switching to camera hotkeys with all queens on 1 hotkey (not the backspace style). But here's the issue : i used my style already for 2 years and gotten pretty used to it. So is it worth the change? Are there any pro's (besides Idra) or high masters that are still sticking to it?
|
If your so used to it by now, you should only change if you feel like it's damaging your play. I'm diamond and I recently changed from shift back space to Camrea Hotkeys and I wished I did it sooner. Amazing for improving multi tasking. Can hold off drops a lot easier. Can upgrade faster. My game play in general has improved.

What's the best way to rally newly produced mutas while harrassing?
Because I bind the eggs to the muta group when I produce them, but they obviously wind up getting caught in the middle of the enemy army or stationary defense while I move between bases, but on the other hand I want them to be as quickly to my flock as possible.

Have a set rally point in a safe location (vP, behind your spine wall. vT behind your ling/bling army, vZ @your base.) Then when you finish your harras, go back and bind them to the control group. You could also have them manually rallied seperatley from your normal army rally point to the air space where you will go after the harras, so you get them faster.

Ok guys, just getting back into SC2 cause I'm hyped for HotS. Was platinum way back in 2010 and haven't really played much since. Getting back in I basically threw my placement so I could be guaranteed bronze league and man I am having a hard time spending my money. Here's two replays where I'm basically trying to follow Glon's Zerg Guide but I feel like I am failing miserably despite winning both games. Game 1 was just on ladder but Game 2 was against a friend who recently picked up the game evidenced by the clan tags. Any help, comments, and criticism would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Replay 1 - http://drop.sc/306281
Replay 2 - http://drop.sc/306280
Edit - Also current army comps would be amazing too, thanks.
