I have a couple of basic really noob questions (me=ashamed), but hopefully someone helps me out here.
1. Rallypoints When i set rallypoint, everything goes to the same rallypoint, but when i watch games of others they have more rallypoints and set them up 1 time for the rest of the game (1red and 1 white dotted line out of hatch), how do i do that? 2. Hotkeys How do u guys/girls set ur hotkeys up to not miss injects. If i could get this working properly, ill have time for other things besides droning up.
1. Hit G for the "red" rally point aka worker rally point and Y for the "white" aka anything but workers. 2. I use base cameras to inject (i bind my bases F1,F2,...). Fenner did inject methods video here

What are defensive timings that I should look out for? For example, in ZvT, I know a good Banshee rush will hit around ~7:00, so I need Spores near mineral lines by that point. What are some others? I'm curious about things like Hellion timings, early Colossus pushes off FFE, DT timings, or things of that nature.

My hero! thx! the mechanics are so different frm terran that it feels like i bought a new game^^)

Setting different rallypoints on hatcheries is even easier: if you right click on a mineral patch or geyser you set the drone rally only, if you right click anywhere else you set the other rally point.
|
Also note that if you want to rally just one worker (in Terran terms, like rallying your 9-10 supply SCV away to build a Depot), you can rally eggs. The unit that pops will go to the appointed position. Very useful for spreading Overlords in the early game.

Thx dragmn, veriol and requizen
im doing queens to 1,2,3 for injects because it feels ok for now, really simple (im guessing i wont go beyond 3 bases in the start, trying to macrowin everything). Rallys are good now, had 10 drones more at 6 minutes after these changes
Practise makes perfect!
thx!

It clears up hotkey real estate and makes injects faster. Thanks to the AI, when you inject a Hatch, only the closest Queen with enough energy will move to inject, so if you have all of them selected, you just hit V and then inject on each Hatchery.

Banshee rush .. ? not really viable normal helion banshee is 8:10/20 banshees with cloack Hellion normal 1rax into cc into factory is 6:50-7:10 first helions arrive Colossus push .. never heard of it nor seen it DTs .. depends how greedy he goes but id say 7:30 spores will do

If you are really starting Id recommend using either copy of progamer hotkeys or GRID layouts (JakaTaK). It can be really easy to say "im not going past 3base on start" and then when you actually do not have proper hotkeys for it. If you plan on playing a bit seriously Id not recommend skipping something because u "might not need it now". You will get into bad habits and it might be hard to get rid of them.

This has definitely been answered before.... but it's extremely hard to find it in this thread. I am a master zerg player who doesn't use camera keys or queen hotkeys.
What are camera keys and how do you set them? What are good spots to set them?
Should I be hotkeying all queens? Or invidual queens per hot key? If i hotkey all queens and then click spawn larva, do all the queens start moving to the hatchery by accident? Is that where shift click comes in?
I have been manually clicking my bases and injecting larva based on my timing in my head (during battles my macro slips that is why I need to change)
|
what helped me big time hitting my injects was binding a single hatch to 3, and all hatches to 4. i made it a habit to hit 3 and 4 very fast. after a short period it feels unnatural to me hitting 4 without hitting 3 before. so by hitting 3 (middle finger) i have a short glimpse at my larva bar, and the next millisecond i select 4 (pointer) for all hatches to select larva. muscle memory.
based on this i do: 34s
even when im microing a battle i still find the time to hit 34s to check larva bar and idle larva.
next best thing was making it a habit to hit 34s during fights followed by unitcontrolgroups and a for attack.
34s1a 34s2a
i dont have to look away from the battle, can attackmove whenever i want and still get the right moment when i have to switch to my bases for injects when im concentrated enough.
i bind single queens to 5 6 7 8 9 0 and double click them with my pointer. hitting v with my thumb.
55vclick66vclick......
wanted to share this with all of you. maybe it inspires some of you to find your own method.

Amazing that there are so many proven methods of injecting and hotkeycontrol

I just have all my queens on 5, and all my hatcheries on 4. I rebound backspace to spacebar - spacebar now cycles between my hatcheries. So I just tap space to get to a hatchery, press 5, v, inject, space, v, inject, space, v, inject etcetera.
You could do it quicker by holding v+shift (keep holding it) and spamclicking+spamming spacebar but I hate it when one hatchery doesn't have a queen which means all queens will walk around.
Also: A useful tip - When making units, ctrl+click the eggs, then shift-'x' them in a control group with x being the control group (1, 2, 3 etcetera).
I suggest not putting your queens on 1, 2 and 3 because old habits die hard and you need those for your army.

I know a lot of progamers who puts their army hotkeys to 5+ and put their main building / queens to 123, so it's pretty much the same really. I'd not really call it a "bad" habit.

I have my 'next hatch' on one, so pretty much all of my injecting is done with my mouse.

Well, i changed queen setup, thx for all ur advice here. All queens on 4 all hatcheries on 5. I just click on minimap for the cycles between hatcheries for now. I'll go slow, and try hatcheries hotkey, space, backspace thing later. Im a bit older so i have to progress slower then normal players^^
Even better: I just had my first ever zerg laddermatch against goldplayer and i won I was really bad haha, @6min. i built 4 gasgeyser, i forgot too fill up 2^^ so i didnt have many roaches at 11 minutes. He attacked me with banshee, but that techchoice means he didnt have much defense against the roaches, so i counterattacked him, and won (although i lost half my drones).

I tried all the inject methods, and for me personally hotkey'ing queens if the fastest and most reliable. I use 5 hotkeys for army and one for hatches, so it leaves 4 for the queens. Also notice that it's hard to hit the default far-away group hotkeys (7-0), so you might consider rebinding them. I have them on F G V B, it's much faster this way.

Gonna try this. as i dont need to click anything to go to the next hatchery and i free up 1234567890

Hi guys, After 3 weeks of playing between Protoss and Zerg I have finally concluded I am going to full time play Zerg from now on as its so much more fun and a tad bit easier in my league, Gold. It's also a lot more better to learn because of all the macro you have to do to become good. Anyways I got to gold mostly on protoss so I'm kind of stuck here until I can get my zerg skills up. I think I have a good macro then most players in this league right now as zerg but I just die because I either don't micro properly or I build the wrong units.
I am using these strategys. If anyone has better please link!
ZvT - Scarlett's Standard ZvT
When should I be harassing? Is there any timings where I should be pushing? When should I be taking a 4th base, Macro hatch? Also what units should I be building against these? I really suck at using banelings, do I just a click or do I have to manually activate them to explode? I usually just build mass lings and banelings but I get rocked really hard. I don't even build roaches against terran, should I be diong so? Sometimes when I get to the ultralisk point I make about 4-6 and I still get rocked by them. I have no idea how to finish a terran player. I am thinking mass muta-lings is the best right now?
ZvZ - Idra zvZ
Again this matchup I have problems just like in ZvT. I don't know when should I be harassing, when to take a 3rd base, how to use banelings effectively. What units should I be focusing on building? Again I am seeing that ling-muta is very effective? Or roach hydra? I don't harass much as zerg, I know I should be but I don't know when is the best time.
ZvP - Stephano zvP roach max
This is my favorite matchup as I excel in it pretty well =D Very standard macro game and I love games like these.
Anyways sorry for the long post but I would really like to improve in sc2!

I'm not sure either why ppl keep switching from broods to ultra. Broods are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than ultras, they're actually totally op if you can use them correctly late game. I've won games with half the army supply with broods. Just go double ups, make corrupters and bring all your queens for transfuse. Broods infestors corru is so costly you dont need injects anymore. Spread ur broods if there's thors and research neural. And that's it, your late game army is absolutely unkillable. Marines should never get under ur broods if you have 8 infestors. Thors should do minimal damage since your first brood push should have +2 armor already and queens healing. Vikings are destroyed by corruptors with superior upgrades combined with fungal and queen dps. Thanks! Hilarious game where I used a queen/brood/festor/corruptor army to absolutely crush a huge, better upgraded terran army: http://drop.sc/301407
The moral of this game: Broodlords with transfuse are fucking unstoppable. I didn't even need the infestors, although they helped.
