Hey guys, I'm looking for some tips for bringing my terran play up to around gold level. I'm currently in gold in 1v1, switching between zerg/protoss now and then and I want to start playing random, but my terran sucks so much it's embarrassing. So yeah, I obviously want to bring my terran up to my zerg/protoss level but I have no clue at all when it comes to terran. I try to go for some sort of MM build but end up making too much of something or too little and get owned hard, so I was wondering if there are any good threads for viable strategies that will win me some games. Or just some good tips. I don't even know any build orders, I guess I know up to when to place the barracks, but that's it.
First time poster and all so if this is the wrong forum, sorry.
Also, it'd be great if anyone would be interested in a practice partner (me).

I would check out Trumps channel he is has an archieved build which is very good in the lower leagues known as the "3 barracks build" Although I would also start working on the 1-1-1 build as it will most likely be the most useful to you in the higher leagues.

Thanks, but do you have a link to his channel?

3 rax is the noob build to go. Easy to use and exploits T's advantages (some would call it imbalances, but meh)
Problem is everyone expects it. So you better have a follow-up in mind.

I know this said builds.. but any idea's for fixing my awful macro.. Gold Terran.. albeit sitting in 77th in my division with no points and went 1-5 tonight I'm just getting slayed.. but when I watch the replays back im losing to players who aren't even that good, I'm just trying builds etc that the Pro level players use, but as my macro is pretty awful I obviously can't support it. I should be in Silver tbh but blizz has decided to put me gold and hammer me down the un-fun way.

the way i practiced my macro was just by playing the ai. Just focus on playing normally but make sure your scv production never stops, then watch the replay and note any pauses in your production. Afterwards just slowly incorporate more buildings. Eventually you'll get to the point where practicing against the ai is useless, thats a good point to hit up the ladder or find a practice partner.
As for builds, I'd practice the 111 build. Whats great is that you dont have to make one of each building, you could opt for 3 barracks, or 2 barracks and a factory, or 1 barracks and 2 factories, etc... Whats real important is just the general concept of when to build the next building.

3 rax will get you into platinum. To work on your macro time yourself and see how fast you can hit 200/200 supply, but with a legit build, keep practicing. Don't think about micro until your comfortable and then add it into you macro, most players try to incorporate macro into their micro, it doesn't work that way around.
Keep in this mindset and you should notice a big improvement.

Terran will be a bit easier at gold since there is a build for each matchup that is extremely hard to stop without proper micro.
In TvP, go straight up MM and get a ghost out. Push and win. The only way to deal with it is with feedback, and you won't ever see people using it in gold.
In TvZ, go mech. I don't know too much details since I don't play either T or Z much, you can get some help on liquidpedia.

Yeah but I'm sure it isn't the only build they use.

If you're a gold/silver level player you can just 3rax your way to honor and glory. Basically all silver or gold players will die horribly to a properly executed 3 rax push. Just make sure to scout for cheese after depot on 10, if you see something funky stop SCVs and bunker up, and you'll be platinum in a couple weeks maximum.
If you're having macro issues just make sure you have a nice hotkey setup so you can just 1s2ddaa to make workers and troops while you babysit your push. Also hotkey an SCV to make depots, just go back and make another every time you see idle worker. Don't be afraid to throw down another rax or two if you find your minerals piling up.
Once you get the hang of macroing that, then you can start learning how to transition out if the push doesn't win the game for you.. glory awaits!

And you think TERRAN macro is hard?
I suggest you practice Zerg for a while. While the two races are very different, the general concept (specific I know) of macro is the same. In my opinion Zerg macro is a lot more unforgiving and you also have to spawn larvae twice as much as you would MULE. Play Zerg for a while and you'll understand the importance of expanding and I think you'll worry about resources a lot more. Zerg is THE macro race and my favorite way to learn things is to do or die (of course having fun while doing it).
Terran macro will seem easier as there's less of a need to expand and your race specific mechanic is more forgiving.
Remember, while micro is very important, macro is what will win you most of your games.
Hopefully since terran macro will seem easier it'll free up more of your actions for micro.
Just my thoughts. I think about learning some terran too on the side :D

Was considering off-racing Zerg and using them in customs with friends, but as i tend to be sitting with thousands of minerals and no idea how they managed to stockpile (as zerg).. I'll wait out on that and go back once my general game sense has improved.
