Hello, first time poster. I am completely new to rts games. I am currently in gold, and dont get a chance to play many matches per week. I've only played 20 matches so far. I try to learn something new from each match.
The match I'm asking about was on metolopolis, i scout and see a bunch of barracks so i throw down 3 gateways and start pumping units. I leave a probe in between his base and mine so i know when he's gonna push out. He pushes out and I see a shit ton of marauders, knowing i cant kill them all i prepare to force field my ramp splitting them up. I do this and kill all the marauders, still losing alot of my units due to him shooting over the forcefield killing the close zealots. I think i have the advantage so i throw down an expo, pump out a bunch more units and get ready to make a push of my own, he then comes in with another wave of marauders and wipes me up.
Should I have not expoed, and kept blocking up my ramp til i could tech to void rays/immortals/ht's, since protoss's t1 units suck against marauders?
I can post a replay if yall want, but it was a real quick match.

Welcome to Teamliquid!
Chargelots, Templar, and Collosis are the counter to bio. The terran has lots of different choices, so scouting is key. A good follow up would to get a twilight council as chargelots are great vs bio, but it also makes an easy transition into templar.
You could also go for the robo bay which is safer because you can get that obs and see what he's up to. Immortals don't do exceptionally well vs most Terran units, but collosis do great vs just about anything if you have the time to get them.
I would never expand if Im unsure of what my opponent is doing, at worst sack a probe to see what he has. Blind expoing mid to lategame just is bad in general since it's a coin flip. But I fail to understand why you stayed at t1 vs terran, PvT you have to tech to SOMETHING... MMM will just stomp everything t1
