[Q] Dealing with Zealot SPAM as zerg.

Hey, whats the deal with this build it gets me everytime! The protoss just goes 2 gate and rallies zealots into my base, if i early expand its gone. If i hold back i need to get roaches fast so my mineral income drops as im having to either get lots of spines or lots of lings to even deal with it. And when he has >6 zealots then lings just dont cut it anymore, trying to micro around and keep alive all I can I will still fall behind income while they just channel zealots into my main its so ridiculous. Then they just add another gateway and go into cyber tech and its GG from there as they get so far ahead.

Any tips? Ideas?

When I scout the 2gate, I go for a quick roach warren and bring my queen to the nat, along with like 4 zerglings. If they try to attack the queen, you can kite the zealot indefinitely around the creep, and the lings can force the zealots off the hatch.

Once roaches pop you can kite them easily. On some maps like Kulas you can't get your queen to your nat in time, so it's possible you lose the hatch, but you can use the roaches to force them a loss in zealot production. A hatch is only three zealots, so it's not a huge deal if you can chase them off without sacrificing lots of lings.

Post a replay. Your issues might be beyond the just Zealot spam, such as a bad build order or over micro.

Build a roach warren soon after your spawning pool. Take drones off of gas after 100 or 125 gas. Instead of getting zergling speed, use that gas to build 4/5 roaches. Easy-peasy.

you need to post a replay.

the moment you scout 2gate you should make a roach warren while continuing to pump zerglings.

If you see a 2gate you should , skip speed to lings and get roach warren instead , if you do not feel comfortable with Lings. It really helps!

Spending that 100 gas on 4 roaches instead of speed will repel any reasonable amount of zealots off a two gate opening since zealots can't catch up off creep, and are much slower on creep compared to roaches.

Is it just a regular 2gate or a proxy? I find that roaches even get owned by mass z's during a proxy.

No replay, so I can only presume here. You need to get a moderately early gas so you have enough to have some Roaches on the way the moment the Roach Warren finishes, as well as some spare larvae. If you just pump Lings like crazy, and forget about gas, its going to cost you the expansion.
