[D] PvP -- Stalker spam?

I'm attempting to get better with Protoss, since they're the only race I don't play. Here's my big question -- what should the general strategy be for PvP? Some people seem to go carriers, but those are so easy to focus fire with a bunch of stalkers that I'm not really sure why. I just won a game by giving up on building other units and just spamming fully upgraded stalkers. They're mobile, okay against everything, and zealots seem to suck royally at surrounding a line of stalkers, so they just get focused down.

What am I missing? I feel like there's surely something more intelligent that I should be doing.

what the hell? I'm yet to see a carrier used in a PvP, rofl....

In terms of the 'standard' build, gate core robo gate or gate gate robo are the standard.

I've never seen carriers in PvP, and stalkers seems to mostly be a death sentence as well, unless the other P tries to skip getting an army completely for Collosus.

Standard PvP from my experience is zealots + sentry + Collosus and not much else.

What leauge are you in? I've also never seen a carrier in PvP. Also, immo/stalker/sentry beats the crap out of pure stalker.

A little more information about opponents build, and your build would be appreciated =)

IdrA: stalkers actually do negative damage. when you shoot a marine with a stalker it gains health.

late game pvt ive used carriers a few times, they seem really strong to be honest, especially considering most terrans i play seem to stick with Marauder+medivac the whole game, lol.

How do they do against vikings? They can just switch starports to reactors and get them fast.
And stimmed marines.
How about zerg? They have corruptors and hydras.

The problem is reaching critical mass Carrier point this far into beta. You're pretty likely to die unless you're on like 3+ healthy bases. I personally do not miss Carriers

Havent seen a carrier in all my plays as P. What would work now and then is mass voidray if they go zeal/immortal heavy. It's just so fun to fly in with 5 speedupgraded and snipe the nexus and a few pylons

Nazgul made a carrier in the first SC2 game he ever played which was a PvP

it was broadcast here on TL!

I dont have beta, but dont immortals + sentries (with guardian shield) just crush stalkers?

I mean, theyre fairly expensive, but im sure you could fill the rest of your army with stalkers or zealots (with charge) right?

PVP works out like this.

Immortals > Stalker
Zealots > Immortals
Colossi > Zealots
Stalkers with good micro can > Colossi

If your opponent masses stalkers, mass immortals and win.
If your opponent is zealot heavy, mass colossi and win.

Um, how would fast carrier be bad in pvp? Since you can basically get them by the same time you can get colossi and that the typical protoss don't build any anti air at all it should be own with them with their high dps.

In FFA P's rush carriers alot and it often works.

Other then that I have only seen carriers once in a TvP and they worked surprisingly well.

I'm gold league btw, but the TvP game that I saw happened in silver.

If you get a stargate for whatever reason, then getting carriers is actually not that difficult. Also getting carriers means getting mothership, and even tough it got nerfed, it is still powerful. Maybe carrier tech can be viable but it was just not tried yet. If not against terran then maybe against zerg or toss?

stalkers get destroyed by immortals
if you both have more than 12 units immortals get destroyed by coll coz they will never be able to reach them with all teh units infront blocking/forcefield.

so late game 4 Robo mass coll is the way to go since anything else/air will be countered by throwing in the buffed stalkers or sentries.

Stalkers can work pretty well with blink on some maps(Desert Oasis/LT and maybe on worst map ever made Blistering Sands).Thats it if you are ready on 7-8 stalkers with blink and obs he has 1 immortal and you just blink killing pylons and workers.You have absolute control of the map.But ofc if you happen to fail blink and lose 3-4 stalkers things are tough.

Right now I'm seeing the following strats:

1) Stalker Rush
2) Stalker -> Blink Rush
3) Zealot/Sentry/Immortal Push
4) Power collossus
5) Stalker/Void Ray

Those are the most common things i'm seeing.

I've been having fun with blink rushes....there seems to be a timing window where this strategy can take out a person working on collosuss or zealot/sentry/immortal but your micro has to be good.
