Now I want to break this down into 2 categories 1 is 1v1 maps and 2 is 4 way maps
Now the question is when do I send a worker to scout in SC i would usually send my 8-10th worker depending on race and map conditions to scout.
Now it seems the timing can be pushed back a bit later.
I'm more leaning to scouting around my 12-13th supply on a standard 4 way map and scouting at 10 for a 1v1 map.
What do you guys notice I really think I can scout at my 14th and still have enough time to see a rush as expo first builds are suicidal in this game I think I can really hold off on scouting and still be fairly safe against a common rush.

I don't have a key and I haven't played SCII yet but I wouldn't emphasize scouting at this point in time. Only if you know that you can actually READ your opponent's race and the buildings/tech tree does it make sense. Oh, and obviously you also have to know how to counter what he has or is going for.
Scouting will become much more important once the game is starting to become mapped out, standard builds emerge and all that good stuff.
That is not to say "don't scout at all", just that I don't think the game (20 hours after beta release or whatever) is at a stage where scouting is equally important as it was in SC1.

I usually scout after Gateway as Protoss or as my Supply Depot finishes as Terran regardless of whether or not it's a 2 player or 4 player map. Zerg is a bit trickier, but I tend not to Drone scout. If I did, it'd probably be while my first Overlord is building instead of an Extractor.

in SC you typically scout right before or after gateway/barracks so I've pretty much played that way.
It's much much harder to keep worker alive in the base if they just put a worker to chase it. So scouting early game is a very intensive.

I've been scouting after I place the gateway. I felt like doing this gave me the best mineral intake. My scout failed to scout in a timely manner once, and I was eventually punished for it.

My timing for terran scouting has been right after raxx or depot. Since both finish within relative time of each other. Scouting is essential right now given the sheer cheese builds to effectively make some counter.
