Hello, I have recently completed my first public published melee map: Ember Crag.

As I am new to SCII and the community, I have only been able to playtest vs. AI and would really appreciate any feedback from members willing to give it a look.

The map is slightly larger than average (from what I can tell) for a 1v1 (180x140 playable). It was designed with the longer macro game in mind, and I believe has a longer than normal base to base scouting time. Original testing was too long and so I added a back door ramp from the base 4 position for an alternate path. Main ramp to main ramp I believe is 65 seconds.

I am looking for any feedback to improve my skills. So any criticism on the aesthetics, mechanics, or impact to gameplay is highly appreciated.

I have begun working on my next melee map project, and hope to use any feedback on Ember Crag to improve that one as well.

As this is my first post, I hope I have provided all relevant information.

65 seconds main ramp to main ramp is absurdly long--35 seconds is typical for a ladder map. A natural with two openings is a problem since in Protoss can't walloff in PvZ. A main base where tanks can siege the mineral line and gases from the lowground is likewise problematic. Expansion-wise there isn't really a flow to the expansions past the fourth base--the top right and bottom left corners of the map are so far away from everything else that you can't expand there. The center of the map wastes a lot of space with empty areas. The gold bases can't really be taken unless you've already practically won the game. I wouldn't recommend using the terrain height tool at all (within the playable bounds of the map) since the terrain will strangely straighten out if someone builds a building in game near the warped terrain.

180 x 140 actually isn't slightly larger, it's massively larger! A more average 1v1 map size is closer to 140 x 136. Even 148 x 148 feels large unless it's a 4 player map.
