This picture shows the possibility of taking your third at the inside partial location (by stealing from 2 other bases). As you can see, there are 4-5 efficient mineral patches at this location. The four closest minerals (most likely to be mined) in this area are all 900s, so they will be the first to go, putting such a base on a timer and also opening up an extra path once they are gone. Hopefully the vulnerability of your mineral line and geysers plus the fact that you're not getting full mineral income will be an interesting choice for players to weigh against their town hall's safety and the earliness which you can get such a base.

Notice also that if you have extra workers at your natural before you are able to expand, it is possible to long distance mine from the nearby minerals at a reasonable rate. These minerals are also the four 900s in that mineral line.

There is also a partial base if you take your 3/9 o'clock base from the back.

I think the rest of the map is pretty self-explanatory. It isn't too large.. 132x132 and the corners don't play a huge role other than a late late base option, so it's really like a 124x124.

@ the concept, I like the idea of shaking things up economically rather than just via terrain. Really muddying the waters and making players think critically on their feet. Since Blizz is still anti-custom expos for some silly reason (even though they say they want to get into experimental maps), I think this is a possible loophole.

Ambitious. If I had to put it in one word.
I cant say that I like it much, but then again, maybe its just that I dislike the economy situation of LotV in general with all those easy to get resources.

Hmm really interesting how so many bases are close but until at least part mined the access by land is a lot further than it seems.

I think it looks really cool. The first 5 bases seem really accessible for Zerg, not too sure how it would play out but they could macro really hard and gtet so many resources whilst still only having to really defend 1/4 of the map. Would be interested to see what Zergs think of this and would it be too OP?

If any Zergs do try a macro game on this I'd love to see a replay.

I think zergs taking a macro hatch at the interior partial 3rd could be a thing for sure. It's probably fine, since zerg has a history of having the hardest time defending double sided bases, but who knows for sure. Also @ macro hatch, it would be really awesome to see more Ling/Bling/Muta since one of the main reasons we don't see it much right now is larva limitations.

One other thing I was thinking about - if mech ever makes a comeback in TvZ due to upcoming nerfs or what have you, that might be a good mech base. (I don't think mech can ever come back in TvT while tankivacs exist, but that's another discussion)

Looks like you could plant an expansion in front of your main ramp, and mine from all 3 nearby bases at once.

Pretty interesting thought, although I'm pretty sure that's worse than just taking your nat normally and then a third somewhere, either on the inside as pictured or at one of the full outer locations. Since putting it in front of your ramp you wouldn't really be mining efficiently anywhere other than 1 mineral patch.

Although if you don't care about your 5th and 6th gases then I think putting the base a few squares further south (assuming we're talking about the bottom left spawn) to have better mineral income could be cool. That's probably a terran-only thing, and they can always adjust the position as needed.

Hey, just saw this map on Reddit and I'm loving the look of it!
I can clearly see the influence taken from Earthattack's BW Map (Wiki)Outsider, which was one of my most favourite maps back in the day.

Thanks. I didn't get into competitive BW at all (unfortunately, didn't know at the time what I was missing) but Outsider does seem like it was a neat map. I didn't use Outsider as inspiration at all although I did get inspiration for one of my other maps (Disperse) from a remake by Avex for starbow of Heartbreak Ridge (although it ended up twisting and distorting into something wildly different by the end).

I'd like to make a true Heartbreak Ridge for SC2 at some point as that map does seem badass, but we'll see if it's feasible.
