For those that don't know, today a Starcraft MMO was launched which can be played on the Arcade right now! Be sure to check out their website and the arcade on battlenet. I decided to make this because I couldn't see it elsewhere. Feel free to discuss it here ^_^
EDIT: Could a Mod change the Forum title to include that it is an MMO? Thanks!
i dont think its a MMO since its not Massive Multiplayer... map is awesome but i hate the camera and the controls i would prefer fixed camera maybe like old final fantasy games or just like diablo or sc2 view even cause like this i spend 90% of time adjusting camera instead of playing
And yes, the controls are pretty poor right now, but you have to consider how it was created. This was created within the limits of the battlenet map editor.

if you make a game within the battlenet editor you have to be aware of what works and what doesnt work well... and i know multiplayer is comming but its not Massive cause max players you can have in a sc2 game is 15 i dont think thats counts as a MMO xp

Like Dota, hopefully one day it can go solo ^_^
I doubt you will be able to go solo unless Blizzard takes the project, since after all it is the "STARCRAFT universe", but nonetheless it looks really good!

I could see it. Valve bought DOTA, for example. And I know that Blizzard has been working with the creators of SCU on making the mod - I'm not sure to what extent their involvement goes, but I know they've at least been in contact.
I would really, really like to see Blizzard take this on as it's own IP. The prologue, while only an hour long, really shows how immersive and engaging an MMO set on the SC universe could be.
I think I would rather see an RPG set in the starcraft universe than a MMO like WoW. Nothing against WoW, but it killed any chance for more Warcraft RTS games, while a RPG will not. Also since there could be only 2 playable races (you can't really make playing a Zerg unit logical) it kinda makes the game bland. I think a RPG without levels will be the best choice, to really make the game "logical".

I agree with this, maybe a TES style single player RPG, that would be great fun =O

I can imagine it now... That would be so awesome, if Blizzard is going to announce something like this at Blizzcon than I am sure to get nerdgasm. Maybe project Titan is this? :D
Pros: Potential epicness in the making. The story line and the way the narration plays out is awesome. Great voice overs. Cons: Controls are bad. Really bad. =(

No, the actual controls of moving your character are rather static. But I guess that's to be expected with such an engine, not made for these kinds of games. Hope they find a solution though!
I got bored of the pace of the game after 20 minutes. The challenge is also very minor. What I probably dislike the most is that the AI of your character is still functional unit AI - which means you can just follow command on an escort and your 'hero' will auto attack everything that comes too close.
The spells are also kind of uninspired. I hate to say it, because a lot of work has obviously gone into this; but I couldn't be bothered to play it again after the first 20mins.
Real shame. I hope the next big modders take the engine into account, because the controls were a big down for me too.
"Some players have experienced synchronization issues with the current camera systems and slight delay with input commands."
Half a sentence under "risk" is all that input delay gets?
The biggest thing that would kill this project, and something that they are entirely reliant on Blizzard, who may or may not even fix it (or even be able to), is just sneaked in at the bottom?
My guess is that the developer group has entered into a separate contract with Blizzard regarding this project that supercedes the terms of the original Starcraft 2 EULA.
If they keep getting money on this rate they'll raise 250k: enough to fund the project, add a Zerg character (primal zerg or infested terran?), a MOBA-like PvP arena, female characters, 2 full acts and 2 "flashback" missions.
That'd be a lot of content. Everyone knows the money will get slower some time but I expect them to get at least 130k, enough for the MOBA arena.
Even if controls are bad (they are! they are awful) and gameplay isn't specially engaging (not for me, at least), I'd still play it because as an interactive fan-fiction it will certainly rock. The writers seem to believe Starcraft should be gritty which is the genuine spirit of the lore.
I just wish they expose a little more how Protoss-Terran relationships work. Not in the main characters (where the relationship was well done) but in the "society" of survivors itself.
I'm very confident you guys are going to make it :D
Now could we discuss things? Who else has tried the Final Testament map? (here's the boss raid in action)
I tried it. It's damn hard and even in the Novice difficulty I found it impossible to beat solo.
The controls are 200% better. I mean it. As I said in another forum: they went from bad to average. The lag isn't there anymore, there's some actual menace for you to use the abilities against, and well, getting used to them helped too. So I'd say the control issues are mostly gone. There's still room for improvement, though.
That being said, Testament is impossible to solo! Or has anyone beat that guy on their own?

As with all battle.net content, the ~0.5 sec input delay returns when played multi-player.

Sorry but thats not quite correct. All battle.net maps are played in online mode, it doesnt matter if 1 or more players are in the game. Therefore the delay will stay the same, even with more people.

Oh, I apologise. I assumed he was playing offline when he said "the lag isn't there anymore", as the battle.net delay is still unmistakable. I find myself even noticing it when playing top-down maps now.
