Question: So in the 2nd round, to say, all pros can choose one map, hence 12 maps will be chosen?

But will all the maps be chosen? I don't quite get the format.

Each pro selects a single map from the submitted map pool. If a Pro selects a map made by Amateur A then any other maps by A are removed from the pool. If there is a conflict (Multiple pros selecting the same map or, I assume, multiple maps by the same amateur being selected) then the pro higher up on the list will get priority.

At the end of the day there will be twelve maps selected, each by a different person.

Each pro will select one map only. Selections are done in the order generated in the OP.

If you don't fall under the pro category, then you are free to submit maps (I think). I believe all of the invites for pros went out, and we don't need more than what we've got at the moment. Sorry that we didn't let you know.

damn it. i wonder how far down the waiting list i am probs at the very bottom xD

Why couldn't there be more pros ? I feel like with so many submissions out there there definitely is room for other ones (like me :'( )

They should allow freelance pros who are not officially selected, but can still pick a map from the left over amateur pool if the amateur is willing, and then together post the map for official judging.

I applaud the thought process behind this idea. I officially jump onto this bandwagon.

That's actually a very good idea. They would have to start picking maps after all the officially selected pros have announced theirs in the thread and go by "first come(post) first served" rule. If organizers agree of course.

Credability is credability.. if someone who's not officially selected.. wouldnt that comprimize the credability for other pros?
I see conflict in the distance.

If the end result is good how is that a bad thing?

The credability is on the list that says they are "pro" for the sake of this tournament, which renders them unable to participate in the initial mapmaking submission. I think the point is that it is a lot of wasted talent to just sit on the sideline and cheer instead of either A) submitting a map for consideration, or B) helping to improve another's map. If they are good enough not to submit, they should be good enough to help a map improve, no?

Well that sounds a little black and white to me..
Where from my understanding.. what your saying as "pro"
I find a difference between "not amateur".. and "pro".. atleast thats what i got out of it.

So i belive that theres something inbetween.. like the good old Elder scrolls ranks.
Novice, Journeyman, Adept, Expert and Master. where maybe master is "pro". and Novice is amateur.

atleast i dont think its easy to just put a whole lot of different talents into the same group.

There may be some on the "not amature" list who are not as proficient as those who were chosen, but if they are on the list they still should reasonably have something to offer an amature. The contest is to improve an amature map from someone with the right know how. If a "not amature" has enough of the right know how not to submit an amature map, they should have something to over an amature map by way of improvement. Whether or not they have the talent to win ought to be up to the judges. If the only people who have a shadow of a chance are the ones on the officially approved "pro" list (from this thread), then one of them is going to win anyway. But I see no reason why someone like ArcticRaven should be barred from volunteering his time to help another mapper improve a map just because he wasn't a top pick. If the amature learns something from him in the process, then it's a win situation even if the improved map doesn't win the contest (or come close).

The only negative I can see really is if an non-picked "not amature" picks a map, contacts the amature, and the amature rejects the offer. But, I'm not sure how likely this is to happen since Ragoo has already been selected as a pro. XD XD XD

Well it has collateral damage : it makes for more maps to judge
