so to answer your question, no
but you can't really bag on them for liking the game, it's not like they've seen the real thing

@youngminii I'm not ragging on them for enjoying it. SC2 mafia is very well made and enjoyable, but in my opinion TL mafia is better. I apologize if my posts gave a different impression.

The only 1hour game I've had was because I've had 2 simultaneous laggers who took turns lagging, but never 45seconds in succession. Surprisingly no one left.
But no the skill level is pretty bad. There are a lot of casuals as well as a lot of others who don't know how to use their roles effectively. I've only had one memorable game which was down to four players with escort, citizen, arsonist and sheriff (me). Everyone played their roles perfectly and the arsonist almost convinced me he was the escort in the meanwhile the escort role-blocked the arsonist while we were all doused. I managed to come up with the question: "which previous round was I blocked," and the first person to answer correctly was the escort.

:D EU players are smarter...

I used to play this game IRL with my friends all the time and then I saw it in custom games and had to change my pants lol. I absolutely love this game. I like being the mafia or a citizen.

:O
There are many new roles:
Blackmailer: silences one person during the day, alignment with mafia. Useful against sheriff, I guess.
Bodyguard: protects a person; if protected person get attacked, bodyguard and attacker both dies.

What I've noticed is that the average skill level of the games is so ridiculously bad that they need to overpower town (all townies having a power), which works well with the 'fun' nature of having mass power roles (changes the game from an analysis game to relying on power roles which is more fun for newbies). The synergy of the two makes the game perfect for a person new to the game, which is my theory as to why it's as popular as it is.

Just play in a party if you can't handle the random trolls/noobs.

It seems people who play Mafia on SCII don't really like the Clue Mode.
When I host, I always play the Clue mode, cause I think it's the most fun mode. They say Mafia is OP in Clue mode. But when I play as town, I always win.
o.O
Noob much? Lol.

This is pretty boring online IMO.
I play this IRL with friends all the time, so much fun.
|
Lol, you're wrong. It's quite fun online. You just need to invite your friends to play, that's all.
|
Hm, but I find the fun part about the game is acting on the spot, being questioned. You have to be good at arguing and don't look nervous.
This doesn't apply online.

Gotta love witch hunt mode:
- Godfather - Mafioso - Sheriff - Vigil - Witch x 6 - Jester
|
i love mafia. just can't stand when night seq is left on. Favorite role would have to be sheriff or investigator.
|
Yeah nobody likes the night sequence, I think.
I love sheriff/invest, but I am never trusted.

Game is unbearable to play on the ladder with random people. Mafia requires too much thinking and reasoning for the average custom ladder user.
If you want to play with people that actually are good and know how to play go to channel "Mafia". Darkrevenant is constantly there along with all the top point leaders. You can help test new versions with new roles, variants, options before they are released and help find any bugs. Mafia is even funner when you constantly play with the same people so you can start to have rivalries. Theres usually about 30 people in the channel at all times and enough people to have a full pre-made lobby full of good, thinking people who want to play.

Can DR come to the Europe Server to play with me?
