yeah? slow is a day last weeks. how is days lasting game of mafia slow? Games are more interesting and fun than SC2 mafia. You are probably too use to shouting nonsense within 20 minutes and using roles like a lunatic.
Also, it being longer is a positive not a negative ..
Well, both short and long mafia games can be good. I'm relatively new to the game (I knew the party game a little bit before I came to SC2 Mafia) and haven't played forum games yet. But I think I can see your point, longer games give you more time about what you do yourself, how to find out who's lying and stuff like that, which generally (but not necessarily) will make for "higher quality" games. On the other hand, faster paced games like the mod can be a lot of fun as well. Having a lot of powerroles who can always change the course of the game makes for an maybe extremely different playstyle (I suppose) and you have to deal with the pressure of having to decide things fast and if you're not able to do so you might just die. Essentially, forum mafia and sc2 mafia have a different emphasis regarding gameplay. You might like the one or the other or even both. But everyone who hasn't tried the mod yet should definitely do so

Could someone give a quick guide on how this game works.. I tried it but have absolutely no clue what the heck is going on.. are you supposed to like... roleplay in order for this to be fun?

Once, a jester claimed to be a veteran, which I was, so I said he was lying, so they lynched me ^___________^ Actually, he voted to lynch me, everyone followed like sheep, and when voting came, only the jester vOted. He voted guilty. So, basically, a jester lynched me by himself. I learned two things: 1. Town is stupid. Also, the mafia wisely killed the jester, and the serial killer won. 2. Everyone except the town is mysteriously smart. Unless i'm mafia, in which case the mafia is really dumb and I end up ordering everyone around.

Use all information possible. Do exactly what your role says. Your rolecard is in the top right of the screen. Maximize the top left screens to see what roles are possible and not possible for everyone. Use investigative role to the best of your ability. If you are a killer, proceed cautiously. 2. Play. You won't get it at first. Once you get almost every role, you will understand everything that anyone can and can't do. You will understand hi-tech strategies and be able to execute them. You will be a master of communication and deception. 3. Understand that 85% of players in the mod are idiots. You must adapt to the irrationality of fellow players. You therefore must use logic very carefully or not using it at all. If you can not outwit the masses, become them.

Nothing is better as getting lynched as revealed Mayor

Quite fun but most people act like retards and seem to believe the trolls. Trolls are mostly mafia. If you clean up the trolls in the first two days you can finally start thinking.

Too many of Mafia games lag, probably because the more people are in a game, the higher the chances of there being someone with slow computer/internet. I've seen a guy who keeps joining and lagging games, and I don't see why he would do this except to troll.

Unfortunately alot of trolls play Mafia :p

I just played a game where one guy randomly called out no less than 3 mafia, and he was right (first day) The town proceeded to lose.

And now I'm playing a game with 1 mafia, cit, 2 random towns, and 3 masons+ mason leader. I will edit results. Edit: 3 masons died, along with me (cit) and a random town (also cit) 3 left: mason, mafia, and random town. The trial ended, they let him go, night time. Mafia WINS.

To quote Ace (A player on the forums here): "It's not what you know, it's what you can convince people to believe."
If he didn't push hard enough for his lynch targets (And he should only really be pushing one maybe two at a time), then of course they aren't going to die. :p

Then he posted it on lag screens and the town still ignored him.

They might have been skype cheaters trading wins who seem to be quite rampant these days. |'ve had it worse before. I was an investigator, just found the godfather, and told the town about it while giving my evidence. Nobody got lynched that day. I kept saying the same thing the next day, but still nobody got lynched. The following night, the jailor jails me and executes me without saying anything. I made sure to leave in my will who the godfather is just to remind the dumb town again. After my role as an investigator is revealed and my last will is read, the godfather guy goes "alright guys, let's kill [some random town guy]. He's a mafia" and the town immediately follows his vote to lynch the town. The maf wins without losing a single player. Hard to believe that they weren't cheating.

I love mafia but like mentioned the cheating has gotten a little out of control lately. I'd find some in house games or start playing TL mafia, but I really only play it to take a break in between laddering sessions or while I'm drinking/eating.
|
skype cheating can't be prevented in any way....
but if you are lucky and have a pretty good setup..... you can have a fun game....
still even in a fair game, random lynching and some trolls (had a troll investigator once) can ruin pretty much everything. And as a side note bus driver should be neutral cause in the last 3 games i played he fucked up some investigations by random swapping and the investigator missed the mafia lots of times......

This mod is a casual version of the mafia forum game. No you don't have to role-play, it's just about trying to figure out who is part of the mafia team and who is not.
But really, you guys who like this game, should consider playing the real thing, available on these very forums.
