You can get a little more precise if you go to edit - copy options and uncheck "include water"

You sir, just helped me realize all my mapmaking aspirations. I was honestly going to quit trying to make my first map if I couldn't copy and paste where I needed to and had to re-do all the terrain in a different spot.

Those pens are essentially just mice with sensitivity sensors on the tip for editing various brush parameters in Photoshop. You can certainly use them in the editor.

Is there a map/mod that trains practicing builds? I can't believe there isn't something like that where you can load up a build order, and there'd be notifications of when/where you should do this or that. A generic map with an APM counter indicator system would be nice where if a threshold is broken, you get a banner notification (or you lose).

i have some team liquid map contest questions.
it says to provide a download link when submitting. does it mean a link to download it from another website, and if so, what website should i use.
do i provide the distances for all spawns (ie: horizontal vertical and cross).
am i allowed as many analyzer images as i want.

Hi guys,
Do any of you know a single build order practice map, HotS compatible? I've seen qxc's updated one, but the time indicator is in real seconds, which is really useless, to be quite frank :D I just want at the very least some restartable map (you type a command and it restarts the game and some timer), and at best something like YABOT, which was very cool, but I haven't found an HotS-updated YABOT map, unfortunately. I find it weird that none of those maps made it through HotS, so maybe I'm not looking at the right place.
I could make the map myself but it probably already exists, I'm not a big fan of reinventing the wheel.

It is currently only on daybreak. Type SALT into custom games (NOT arcadce) and add a computer player (or another human)
It accepts YABOT encoding so you can import YABOT builds from elsewhere such as http://sct.sc/news/ or it has a build editor to create one yourself.
I'm working on creating a video tutorial to show people how to use it but if you have any questions feel free to PM me.
I've chimed in to promote my own work here a few times now, hopefully no one thinks I'm spamming. If so I'll cut it out.

I took a look at your map, and it really fulfills my expectations, so I'll be using it I've tried the "save/load" function because it's something that I would be really interested in (as would a lot of people I'm sure), but the load part simply hanged on a black screen (I've simply tried to load as soon as I got an "autosave" message). Keep up the good work, very good idea.

hmm I'm running into a weird problem. I'm making a map for that map contest (but especially for fun). Thing is, I can't seem to place minerals at certain areas. I made a picture and put some red at the areas where i can't place minerals (ie i can't place a starting base ). So any tips?

Btw I know I also need to define two spawn points for it to be playable in 1v1. Where do I get those?

View -> Show Placement Grid, make sure Show Grid, Ground, No Build, Near Resources are checked.
Also View -> Show Terrain -> Show Bounds is checked.
You will now be able to see where you can and cannot put buildings and units. The blue bound line around the map is the limit you can place buildings and units, the yellow one is cosmetic, just shows how far the ingame camera can scroll. You can grow or shrink the bounds using Map -> Map Bounds

You need to go on other servers to publish it there.. it is not "ez" since blizz's relocalizer doesn't always work .. last time I did it I got stuck .. :^D .. there should be an ez way .. and maybe there is ..
If you want to try .. log on to sc2 and choose the "other" region you want (like you want to play on that server) .. then close sc2 and open galaxy, do manage publish and it "could" work :^P

I don't know if it's a simple question, but I would like to ask you if there's any custom game that's more fun than sc2. I found LOL to be more entertaining, probably because it was a group game. At the same time, I don't really like 2vs2 or more. Could you suggest me any custom game that I might like, and that is very fun to play, while being strategically deep?

i can't seem to get the map analyzer to work. whenever i use it with one of my maps it says "could not open up mpq archive". i think it might have to do with hots, but i have seen new maps with analyzer images and i am wonder if there is a fix / working version.
