OGN has slightly changed the system for the Proleague. Last time around, it was 10 teams playing for around 6 months. This time, there are only 8 teams playing.
Other than that, the system is pretty similar to the previous league. The each team plays every other team for the first round. After that, the top 4 ranking teams go onto the next round to play against each other yet again. After that round, the combined statistics of round 1 and 2 are added to rank the teams. 2nd place and 3rd place face off, the winner then goes against the no.1 ranked team for the championship.
A long and hard preliminary, probably more games played there than in the actual league itself, was held a week ago. The top 4 teams from the previous league, Orion, Hanbitsoft, KTF, and GO received seeds. The remaining for slots were up for grabs. Soul, AMD, Kor, Toona, Ktec, POS, and Samsung battled it out for the remaining 4 places. In the end, it was Soul, AMD, Kor, and Toona coming out on top of the prelims.
The prelims were actually quite close if one looks at the results, while Soul went 4-2 and Samsung went 2-4 vs the other teams, all of the remaining teams went 3-3. However they applied the rules of more points for a 3-0 win etc, and came up with rankings without tie-breakers.
