Game 1: RoV
With Jack in the west, he tried for a quick push with three tanks, upgraded vults, and a few vollunteer grunts. FA read the build well and defended with dragoons and a handy observer. A lack of siege really hurt Jack as his push failed, leaving him behind economically as FA had taken his nat and the middle island. The end came soon after as FA harassed with a reaver and shuttle creating havoc in the terran base.
FA 1:0 Jack
Game 2: Luna
This game started slow, with little action as Jack took hiw two expos and FA took the south half of the map. When Jack came out to push, he was stunted by a constant stream of protoss ground troops as well as spells from FA's signature unit. It looked as if Jack might be able to push through and level the expansions he needed to to secure the game, but he could never hold his own expo's against the instant forces of recall and eventually fell in game two as well.
FA 2:0 Jack
Game 3: Requiem
In the third game, Jack threw a curveball and picked protoss rather than terran, staing he would play P for the rest of the match. It paid dividends right away as his three gate low tech build managed to crack an openning at FA's ramp despite reaver presence. Having scarcely left his base, FA needed to tap out.
FA 2:1 Jack
Game 4: Forte
Another PvP with the players at cross positions. Arbiter got some key advantages by killing a shuttle of reavers and successfully goon dropping Jack's ledge, but he could not make it count as Jack slowly out macroed him and eventually gained purchase in his base.
FA 2:2 Jack
Game 5: Gaia
A textbook game by Jack, as his reavers flew early and often, catching FA out of position. The first drop took out 50% of the probes and essentially forced FA into an all or nothing attack, as his eco was way behind. It failed, and from 2:0 up he was now looking elimination in the face.
Jack 3:2 FA
Game 6: R-Point
As in the prior games, Jack got an early advantage, this time economically. FA massed off a single base for zeal/goon/reaver, and was within a razors edge of making Jack pay for his earlier expo. However, with reinforcements coming off the line, Jack held, powered up, and took the series with four straight PvP wins.
Jack 4:2 FA
I for one was pretty surprised with this turn of events. I did not know BlackJack had such profficient protoss, and neither did FrozenArbiter apparently.
Here is a quick word with your winner:
Manifesto7: Congratulations on winning your first Liquibition tournament. oG)BlackJack: Thanks a lot, it was fun. Manifesto7: Who knew that your PvP was so good. It caught me, Liquibeters, and most definately FrozenArbiter off guard. oG)BlackJack: Yes, my PvP is the pwn. Two gate every game. Even if you know it is coming, you can't stop it. Manifesto7: Any ideas on who you would like to play next? oG)BlackJack: I think the best matchup you will see out of me would be TvZ. I think the other matchups are boring. Manifesto7: Alright, rumour has it that an out of shape former USA #1 wants a crack. I might be able to convince him to play Zerg. oG)BlackJack: Bring it on. Manifesto7: OK, thanks a lot and see you next time. oG)BlackJack: Cheers. Thanks for the invite.
And with that Liquibition 21 is in the books. Hopefully the next one is right around the corner.
Holy crap, FA probably wasn't prepared for the P switch =/. I bet it was a lot of PvT practice. That's some amazing strategy and play by Blackjack. GGs.
But my PvP is very, very bad (47% win at pgtour haha T_T, so sad, my other matchups - pre-requiem as motw - were about 59% PvZ and 58% PvT, at A~).
So the PvPs were ugly, requiem I guess I could have won if I controlled better (failed to see him shooting at my reaver), but the rest of the games my builds were soooooooooooo much worse than his
My reaction to him picking P was like.. "I hate him" "ZOMG MAPHACK" "God damn, my PvP is so much worse than his"
Wow, BJ 2 gated in every PvP? Interesting. It's a good build on Req, but I'm surprised he kept it the whole time. Nicely played by both. FA, your PvT is ownage buddy.
Wow thats a very a nice off race Blackjack. FA's pvt is very good but i think he said like his pvp is his worse matchup so i can see why blackjack picked toss for the rest of the series. Congrats jack even though you killed my liquibets.
That was brutal. I didn't think the race switch would lead to 4 straight wins for BJ. It would be cool if there was a graphic somewhere on the site's main page that listed the current Liquibition champ.
