Should have bolded the part about it being in online tournaments as well (the more relevant piece).
Nestea has maintained a high winrate in ZvZ all offline for a far longer period of time in the gsl booth which is where they'll be playing today. Experience could play a significant factor.

Nestea can NOT fall out of code S. I believe in him
Nestea v Life SuperNova v JYP SuperNova v Life Nestea v JYP Nestea v SuperNova
if Life and Nestea go to code A then I won't have anyone left to cheer for but DRG

True. However the majority of Nestea's competition was less than impressive, similar to Life. It's the same thing for every player that has an abnormally high winrate in the mirror matchup.
As for experience, we can't really tell if it's going to be a factor. Life is not exactly suffering from the newbie jitters. His loss to Leenock was only due to a big head.

The actual phrase should have been 800. So sad.

Not really. It's not impressive now because all those players have fallen off. But at the time he was beating the other top ZvZers in the world. The Nestea vs Losira finals was a match between the 1st and 2nd best Zergs at the time. Life is facing obscure players in online events to boost his win-rate.

Damn it, if only Suhoshin hadn't died in round 1. It would be a dream ro16 group to have Supernova and Nestea against Heart and him. The most consistent for T/Z vs their cheesy counterparts. It would be the most enjoyable games possible between them.
And make sure it's Suhoshin vs Heart at some point - the amount of cheese would feed SC2 for a life time.

With the exception of Losira, BBoongBBoong, and Zenio (who relied more on mindgames than strategy to win in the early days) most of those players were always mediocre in ZvZ. In fact most zerg players in Korea were mediocre in ZvZ in the early days. Don't even try to pretend otherwise for Cezanne, Coca, July, and baby Leenock. The best ZvZ competition Nestea ever faced was in his later international games: Nerchio, Stephano, Symbol, and Violet. He played very well against them with the exception of Symbol.
The "he played unknown players" card is begging the question. The popularity of opponents is irrelevant to their skill, and many of Life's opponents are good to great at the mirror matchup. Life's record is more impressive since he played way more games against unknown opponents without preparation, which is where the "randomness" of ZvZ is supposed to kick in. He is also close to undefeated in Bo1 ZvZ sets in team leagues, which is more than Nestea can ever claim.

This is the least surprising thing I've read in my life.

Omg Supernova, get the Nestea award! I will be so proud O.O

Oh,boy that escalated quickly.Well didn't put much hope in them at first place so not suprised. Gogo Symbol!

I may have...
Was going to be all slick and present the date in nice American format.
Then fell over myself and goofed it. =/

Actually even though Nestea has been pretty unimpressive lately I'm gona go and say he and Supernova will advance.. Nestea is still a pretty damn smart player, even though his mechanics and multi-tasking have been non-existent as of late.

Looking forward to everyone but nestea's games today unless he proves me wrong and shows us the old nestea, I for one would love to see nestea back in form stomping some nerds.

My brain says Supernova/Life.
My heart says Nestea/Supernova
cheering for the veterans tonight.

i really didnt enjoy hearts games although they were well constructed timing attacks i think it just took the others sum wat by surprise and squirtle is just a baus so he was always going to win. i enjoyed the fun facts tho cant wait for nestea vs life, and hopefully nestea vs supernova for the nestea award :D

if JYP beats supernova, 1st JYP 2nd life, if JYP loses (more likely scenario), 1st Life 2nd supernova

i hope naniwa stops playing in gsl from now on and focuses on foreign tournaments. I think overall he wasted his time, stephano was always right not playing their and focusing on foreign tournaments and actually winning them.
