I really liked it. I gained some new insight about TL, the production quality was pretty good and the players are all super nice.
But I thought it could have been done better. There was a very clear structure which made it very easy to watch and to follow but I would have liked it more if there was more of a story to it. If you take Jinro for example you could focus on the great run(s) he had in GSL. Show little parts of the games try to catch the hype that was going on at the time. This could have been done for every player. Then there could have been interviews along the chosen "storyline" where the players tell how they were practicing at the time how they were feeling etc. Maybe other players could have been asked how they viewed the situation.
As it is there are a lot of interviews that say the same thing in different ways. Don't get me wrong I thought the documentary was awesome but I think it could have been even better.

I can't help but to agree with this gentleman here. TL'DR: I was expecting an esport documentary, but got some interviews in a nicely wrapped package.
Maybe it just didn't match my expectation of a 'documentary'. Some points: * Production is great; no doubt about it. * The objective is unclear. Is it a collection of interviews? Team promotion? I was expecting to learn more about the team and players struggle, mature, and thieve within the new western e-sport scene. * Would benefit from a commentator with a strong voice to guide those who are not part of the scene. I found myself pretty bored while watching, I didn't learn anything new even though I'm far from 100% up to date on everything Team Liquid and it didn't feel like a documentary, it felt like 10 medium-length and now, unfortunately, outdated interviews edited together into one movie with the occasional shot of a player competing at a tourney.
As others have said, a documentary shows more than it tells! Show us how the players are living, document (!) their everyday live, their practice routines! That's what I had hoped to see in this! I'm honestly unsure what the role of the director in this was? I know somebody must have compiled and asked the questions, there was a camera operator, an editor and so on... but what did the director do? Interviews certainly have no need for a director?
The motion graphic work was pretty neat, however, and there were a couple of very short moments of interest in some of the interviews! Unfortunately not enough to make this a good movie but I feel, and this is always a problem with this kind of stuff, if it hadn't been hyped as much as it has, I would have been much happier with it!

I liked it. I think that they should have tried to make it more like "following the players" kind of stuff, in their lives, in their practise, their strugles...Maybe they didn't do it because a progammers life might not be as interested as you could think but would have loved to see it anyway.

also you are setting the standards soooo high... i don't know how there can be any better documentary any time...

I have to admit I agree with both of these guys too... I did enjoy watching it, and of course I was more than happy to donate a little to the cause, but it felt like we could have had a bit more insight into the day to day lives of TL's incredibly interesting personalities, rather than just a few sit down interviews.

SO GOOOOOOOD

That was pretty underwhelming as a documentary. The production value was fine, everything else felt misplaced, especially considering all the hype surrouding the video. To think that this, for some reason, brought 35k for the team is really surprising. Congratulations are in order, I guess.
Spend the money you earn on a real documentary! I can't help but think there's so much untapped potential in this idea, because, to be blunt, teamliquid failed at producing a decent documentary and gave us a collection of rather shallow interviews instead.

i had to donate to watch,

Yep same. Really felt like there was very little new things brought up. It would work great as an longer team introduction but not so much as a documentary to an already familiar audience.

Watched it, got disappointed. This was not a documentary it was a bunch of old interviews clumbed together into an hour long package, that was really boring even at times. Didn't really gain any new insight about the team, felt like the "documentary" was missing a lot, like some behind the scenes stuff about the team, their struggles with the sport etc. but nothing of sorts really came up in the film. As someone nicely put it, the objective of the documentary is really unclear.
I decided that I'll watch the documentary before I decide whether to donate for the cause or not. Got disappointed, therefore won't be donating.
Hopefully the Team EG documentary does things better.

I will be honest, I enjoyed the film, but it was not at all what I expected it to be. To me, the trailer was misleading, I thought we would see more about eSports on the rise and the place Team Liquid has in that world, the achievements. Instead, we received a in-depth look at the every individual player on TL, and while this was fine and the production for it was at standards, I feel that a documentary would have focused less on individuals and tied them in to a bigger picture.
In either case, I would like to stress that I loved getting to know the players in a more intimate environment, I just wish it was marketed in this way so that I wouldn't be disappointed.

The documentary was pretty good and in my opinion deserves a lot of credit. I definately enjoyed it, but not as much as I was hoping I would. I think a lot of the disappointment though comes from how much hype and expectations were set on the documentary. For example, I think most of us were expecting to experience those 'nerd chill' moments, which was entirely present in the trailer, but underhwelmingly barely any if not none at all in the documentary in itself. Factor in that it's something that's Team Liquid, and delayed for a long time that naturally expectations and standards tend to grow.

Just came in here to say that while obviously the production value was pretty good, to me it felt like just a bunch of interviews cobbled together. I didn't feel like there was any underlying storyline that good documentaries normally have. I really liked the little stories and animations that were used to describe these stories as the players were narrating them though, that was pretty cool, but i kinda skipped quite a bit cause i felt it was pretty repetitive
