So the final Group F: 3 strong zergs in this group, with GoRush, Chojja, and Jju—will the lone non-zerg Rage be able to survive?
Group F Game 1: GoRush v Chojja on Requiem
GoRush 9, Chojja 6
Chojja takes his natural early while GoRush goes 2 hatch in main. Both lair at around the same time, but Chojja makes a sunken at his expo. GoRush sends 2 lings into Chojja’s main and 2 to smack the sunken. Neither play really works but GoRush gets speed faster than Chojja, threatening with higher and faster zerglings. GoRush’s spire finishes slightly faster but GoRush still is producing all zerglings. GoRush kills an OL with scourge to reduce supply count then runs in with all his lings. The fight is relatively even so GoRush runs into Chojja’s main with lings. He does a bit of harassing but Chojja blocks it well.
Chojja sends 4 scourge on top of GoRush’s spawning eggs and when the muta pop out, GoRush loses both muta. Chojja has 1 muta which hunts drone and he starts to mass more muta but GoRush chases it off with scourge. GoRush’s scourge catch 3 of Chojja’s muta and he tries to harass further with some lings into Chojja’s main but it’s not very effective and Chojja has the clear advantage with the expo and the damage to GoRush’s economy. Chojja masses around 4 muta and GoRush can do nothing but GG.
Chojja win.
Game 2: Jju vs Rage on Requiem
Jju 3, Rage 6
Rage 2 gate, Jju 12 pool/gas for speedling, then 2nd hatchery in main.
Rage produces 7 zealots, forge, and pylon above ramp to fake a fast expo, while Jju takes his natural. Rage then goes straight for Jju’s natural where there is no sunken and wins the fight with 2 hurt zeals remaining but more zeals being reinforced. Jju is able to repel the threat with zerglings and plants a sunken last minute.
Rage backs off now and starts a Nexus at his expo with a prebuilt cannon. Jju is able to run a few lings into Rage’s main and catches a few probe but notices also that Rage has yet to take his gas, and he starts a hydra den and replenishes his drone count. Rage starts a cyber but must post 3 zeals in his main mineral line as Jju’s lings are still running around harassing. In the meantime Jju is massing hydra and waiting on speed upgrade, and Rage finally pushes out with around 10 zealots. Rage manages to scout Jju’s main with a zealot and sees no lair, however Jju has massed quite a few hydra now and goes straight for Rage’s natural, which has only 2 cannon. Rage tries to add 5 more cannon but this is too late and Jju just overruns him with pure hydra.
Jju wins.
Game 3: Jju v Chojja on Ride of Valkyries
Jju 7, Chojja 5
Chojja pool/gas first, while JJu goes 2 hatch in main.
Chojja runs his lings toward JJu’s base and also takes his natural immediately. Chojja plants his lings below Jju’s ramp, and goes lair, while Jju is content guarding his ramp with lings and going lair as well.
Jju breaks out with greater ling count and forces Chojja to make 2 sunkens at his expo. Jju also makes a hatch at his expo and both players finish their spires around the same time. With a much higher ling count, Jju rushes into Chojja’s expo and wins the ling battle decisively, leaving some lings to run into Chojja’s main and kill a few drone. Chojja makes mutal but Jju’s scourge takes 2 out and Jju has a muta of his own to harass a bit more.
Jju now produces more zerglings to win the ling fight in the center and despite the fact that Chojja has a few muta, runs past the expo and goes into Chojja’s main, taking out the spire and pool. Chojja GG’s soon after.
Jju advances to the Starleague, making 3 players from the lowly Samsung Khan team to make it to the upcoming Starleague
Game 4: GoRush v Rage on Luna
GoRush 11, Rage 7
GoRush goes fast expo, while Rage goes 1 gate and adds a forge. Rage’s scouting probe starts a pylon next to GoRush’s expo hatch to make a cannon. GoRush brings down 5 drones to attack the pylon but Rage builds a cannon anyway. When the pylon goes down, Rage is able to build another pylon immediately, and the cannon comes online. GoRush loses a few drones, as Rage’s first zealot arrives. However, GoRush calmly gathers more lings and after chasing off a zealot, destroys the pylon first and saves his expo.
Rage adds another gate and a cannon at his ramp and starts to tech, while GoRush goes lair. 3 zealots from Rage rush toward GoRush but they are chased off by lings. Rage’s sair comes out a little after GoRush starts his spire, but GoRush has also produced a few hydra to minimize the harass. Rage warps a few cannon in front of his expo to prepare to start a Nexus there but GoRush already has muta out. Rage loses a templar but has protected his main mineral line with cannon and a few sair, and in response GoRush expands at the 1 natural.
GoRush now goes on the offensive, attacking Rage head-on with ling muta. However, an archon and a shield battery come on line at just the right time, forcing GoRush to run after losing his lings.
There is a pause in the action as Rage gets obs tech and Rage decides to push out toward GoRush’s 1 nat expo with zealots, temps, and 2 archon. However, GoRush has lurker at his expo, and while Rage waits for his obs to arrive, GoRush gathers troops to sandwich Rage and takes out the entire force. GoRush takes this lull to expand to the 1 main and gather troops, while Rage adds goons to his army. Rage pushes out with a nice sized army of zeal goon and templar, and gets lucky by catching a big doom drop. Rage points his army towards GoRush’s main however and almost wins the fight but GoRush brings his doom drop forces back just in time to defend.
After expanding at his mineral only, Rage is pumping troops well and goes again with a large sized force towards GoRush’s main base and again GoRush is forced to bring his doom drop force back to defend, almost a mirror image of the last attack. GoRush immediately counters at Rage’s mineral only and does significant damage with lurk ling before being eradicated by 4 templar storms. Rage has very few probes however at each expo while GoRush’s economy has been relatively untouched and GoRush already has hive and greater spire completed.
Rage can do nothing but replenish his economy but GoRush already has almost 12 ultras out and is denying further expos by Rage with strong scouting. A big center fight with Rage’s zeal goon archon temp vs ultra ling ensues and GoRush wins decisively. GoRush then turns his attention on Rage’s mineral only, razing it to the ground. Rage knows the game is effectively lost but tries to stick it out by replenishing his army and sending some dt’s to harass. However, GoRush is too big now and after losing all his zealots against a huge horde of ultra ling, Rage GG’s.
GoRush’s victory assures 2 zergs advancing from Group F. Rage always seems to play poorly in important games despite having good builds. Perhaps he’s prone to nervousness o_o
Game 5: GoRush v Chojja on Forte
Chojja: 17-10 zvz, GoRush 9-7 zvz
Chojja starts at 1, GoRush starts at 7.
Chojja goes *5* pool despite being diagonally cross positions and scouts with a drone. GoRush goes *12 hatch fast expo.* Chojja has only 6 drones mining and no OL but uses a gas trick to make more lings. Chojja scouts GoRush’s base, and with the scouting drone plants a sunken in GoRush's main. GoRush, completely flustered, CANCELS his pool by accident, and after the sunken completes and the lings arrive, types out.
Chojja advances using the cheesiest of cheese, and GoRush goes home, probably pissed as hell.
Chojja and Jju advance from this group.
Starleague coming soon!
