Group D Game 1: oov vs. Yooi on Requiem
oov predictably owns Yooi badly. :-P
Group D Game 2: Midas v Zergman on Requiem
Midas 12, Zergman 6.
Zergman OL, 9 pool, 2 drone anti-8 rax build then expo at natural. Midas 2 rax. Midas loses all his early marines to overly aggressive play with around 6 marines, and 3 of Zergman’s lings get into Midas’ base and kills a few scv. Meanwhile Zergman has his expo running, has finished his lair, and has started a spire.
Midas manages to run past 4 sunkens with 6 firebats (2 remaining afterwards) and kills a few drone but Zergman runs his drones well and his mutes come out to quell the disturbance. Zergman mutaharass starting now, expanding to his island and hiving his lair.
Midas ventures forth with a small mnm force and takes his natural. Zergman loses some muta on an ill-advised skirmish but immediately morphs into guards next to Midas’ main and starts to rain. However, Midas is able to defend relatively well with mnm and 3 irradiating vessels.
Zergman in the meanwhile expands again to the 5 island and starts an ultra den. He also starts to harass Midas’ natural with 3 guards but Midas again fends off the harass with vessel and mnm. All of Zergman’s guardian plays have been to naught and Midas is starting to come alive again, taking the 3 main expo.
Midas brings down a large force of m and m with some tank and begins to siege Zergman’s nat sunkens. However Zergman has a half dozen ultra now with defiler and Midas is forced to back off with some losses. Midas reinforces and keeps up the pressure and Zergman continues to wait and push with swarm and ultra. Midas expands again at the 3 natural and Zergman pushes forth again with swarm and a few ultra/ling. Zergman’s fp screen shows that he has plenty of mins but lacks gas, and Midas in the meanwhile is pumping troops, pushing Zergman back again to his natural.
Zergman expands at 9 but is found and Midas gets rid of it with marines and 2 tanks, but Zergman again is able to repel the forces in front of his natural, going toward Midas’ expo at the 3 natural. However, he is turned back by fresh troops from Midas’ main and the game now looks very much in favor of Midas. Zergman keeps sending small amounts of troops which die off to Midas’ constantly reinforcing army. After a few more skirmishes, Zergman realized he has played a very poor game and realizing he can’t possibly overcome Midas’ economic and troop superiority, types out.
Game 3: oov v Midas on Ride of Valkyries
oov 5, Midas 7
oov 2 fac, Midas 1 fac 1 port. Midas gets 2 vults, then addon, and wraith when port finishes. oov making vults, getting speedup, and armory slightly late. Midas’ wraith does nothing really and oov makes mines for vults as well.
Oov expands and simultaneously goes into Midas’ base with 6 vults, planting mines along the way, catching 2 tanks and mining Midas’ expo area. Midas comes out a bit later with 3 tank 1 goli to clear mines and adds some more goli and a tank. Oov meets him in the middle and loses the fight but comes out again with some scv support to push back the center line. Midas does a little dropship harass which is mildly effective but oov’s gorilla demeanor doesn’t change.
There’s some positioning battles in the center but no real contain on either side. Midas expands twice on his side of the map, while oov adds an expo at 3. oov drops 2 scv on the island to build turrets and Midas slightly later drops 1 scv to do the same, but oov kills the scv with a few wraith, and turrets up the island, expands, and also takes the 1 expo. Midas takes the 12 expo, so ALL the expos on the map have been expanded on. Before his cc is complete however oov drops 3 dropships worth of troops there and denies the expo. This wave of expanding all happens in about 2 minutes.
oov is preparing for BCs while Midas increases his factory count. Midas retakes 12 with good tank positioning. In this tense moment they go to Midas fp, and he is gathering his mass mechanic troops for a push into 1 and right when he begins his push 3 of oov’s BCs show themselves. Midas regroups, gathers more troops, and tries to break through with pure goli tank and scv but oov has already massed about a half dozen BC and has good tank count as well. Midas loses all of his goli and thus about a dozen of his tanks are helpless.
oov’s BCs are now at 2/2 and he almost has a full group. In the center, he can’t quite rush in against Midas’ golis but he starts to Yamato a few of Midas’ tanks. Midas again gathers a huge metal army and rushes in, but oov has now gathered enough BCs to not even run from Midas’ golis. However Midas also has plenty of money and reinforces the middle yet again with golis.
A classic goli tank vs tank BC fight, and usually in these fights the one with the 3/3 BCs tends to win. oov Yamatos around 10 tanks simultaneously and also has backed up the middle with more of his own tanks. There is another big center fight after some posturing and another series of Yamatos by oov, and another slight move centerward with his tanks. Finally oov has pushed enough to tank Midas’ critical 12 o’clock expo and Midas can do nothing but watch.
Midas GG.
Oov advances to the Starleague.
Game 4: Zergman v Yooi on Luna
Zergman wins, moves to final game against Midas

Game 5: Zergman v Midas on Forte
Both on the left side of the map, with Midas 11, Zergman 7.
Zergman forward hatchery 3 hatch build, Midas 1 rax fast acad build.
Midas gathers mmf from 1 rax and takes his expo quickly. Zergman is forced to make lings as Midas pressures him with his small mmf force and thus Zergman goes lair relatively late, making a spire after the lair completes. Zergman also expands at 3 and commences the mutaharass, while Midas builds 2 simultaneous factories. Zergman also expos at 6. When Midas’ troops push out, Zergman goes backdoor with ling muta and does a little damage, running away with muta once Midas’ main army returns.
Midas again pushes out and when he does Zergman hits expo with muta, taking out some turrets but not able to eradicate the expo. Midas finds Zergman’s 6 expo and kills all the drones there with a firebat and a medic. Zergman continues to harass Midas’ expo but Midas has 6 rax now and he pushes out once he has 6 tanks. Zergman rushes into Midas’ expo and kills all the turret/marine defending it. However Midas doesn’t back off and razes Zergman’s forward hatch and takes out Zergman’s main and all of his expo drones. Zergman successfully takes out Midas’ expo and has about 20 muta left, which return to save his natural. Midas moves onto Zergman’s 6 expo and erases it.
The situation that stands is Zergman has 2 bases (no lair but spire and den) to Midas’ 1, a group of muta, and a few lurker, while Midas has about a dozen mnm and 2 tanks. Midas moves onto Zergman’s 3 expo but Zergman is able to defend with 4 lurkers and muta. Midas reexpands to his natural and Zergman goes lurkers in front, muta in back to try to force Midas to defend two fronts. However Midas holds on and despite lacking scv count, seems to have the advantage. Zergman re-expands to 6.
After a bit of regrouping on both sides, Midas pushes out with 4 tank and mnm. Zergman has produced quite a few lurker so Midas chooses to expand again to 12. Zergman finally rushes in with around 15 lurker and muta against 8 tanks mnm and Midas just barely holds on, winning the fight with 1 tank and some mnm remaining. However, Zergman returns with another sizable wave of lurk hydra and this time Zergman pierces Midas’ defense, soliciting a Midas GG.
Zergman goes on to the Starleague.
oov predictably makes it out of his group, but Zergman is a slight surprise over Midas. Zergman, who was best known for being the strongest zvt on lost temple as an amateur (as well as sharing July's real name and also looking JUST like Yellow), has a chance in the Starleague to prove that he's not just an LT guy and that he's not just a good amateur who got a shot at the pros.
