This is your neighborhood uhjoo filling in again to catch you up on reports.

Group C Game 1: GGPlay v Sync on Requiem

GGPlay 6, Sync 3

GGPlay OL, drone trick 10 pool 10 hatch at expo, while Sync typical 2 rax build, typical Sync-style gathering of marines and no turbo acad. GGPlay goes fast lair, Sync adds 3rd rax.

GGPlay spire after lair, Sync gathering lots of mmf, GGPlay with 4 sunkens
Sync pushes out, GGPlay adding sunkens like mad, Sync goes in agains 5 sunkens and 3 building, almost makes it but drone/few muta save the day.

GGPlay mutaharassing effectively, Sync factory and addon. GGPlay expands to his island gas expo, reinforcing sunkens at his nat (9 sunkens  seems overboard but Sync eats sunkens like noone else). Sync pushes out mmf and 2 tanks, sieging sunkens. GGPlay hive finished, greater spire almost complete. GGPlay focus fires tanks slowly and gets rid of both. Sync seems to back off but instead goes in with many mmf against around 10 sunken.

GGPlay guardians pop out and Sync’s entire army wiped out with about 2 of GGPlay’s sunkens remaining. Sync has no sci facility, trying to get last minute wraith. Sync is basically screwed, all of his attacks on sunks failed and he’s miserably behind. Sync trying to use wraith to fend off guards but GGPlay has devourer mixed in with his guard and muta and Sync can’t stop the attack on his main. GG Sync.

Group C Game 2: NaDa vs Pusan on Requiem

NaDa 6, Pusan 12.

Pusan makes an early zeal to harass NaDa’s wallin, cyber is slightly delayed. Pusan makes second zealot and citadel, 2 zealots hitting wall, adds a dragoon to the harass.

Depot gets to the red before tank pops out but Pusan’s archives is up. NaDa going 1 fac 1 port, making eng bay. Pusan still only 1 gate, dt pops out. When dt arrives, turret is almost complete. Pusan can’t get in and backs off and expands at his expo.

Pusan’s robotics is complete (still only 1 gate) and shuttling 2 dt into NaDa’s main. Only 1 tank 1 turret, Pusan focuses on turret, doing good damage. NaDa simultaneously drops 2 tanks into Pusan’s main but goons minimize damage. NaDa finally stabilized with 4 turrets and has second dropship now. Drops 4 tanks behind expo minerals but 2 goons there to delay until Pusan can ferry a few dt as well, NaDa gets away.

Slight lull in the action now as Pusan adds gates and NaDa building CC for expo. NaDa expands now but Pusan’s expo went up much faster, NaDa must do something with his dropship harass to make the game more even. NaDa adding factories now, no vults yet.

Pusan attacks with about 10 zeal 10 goon, zeal bomb, forces CC lift and rids almost all of NaDa’s forces, NaDa barely blocks attack. Pusan expo at 3 main now up and running, but NaDa catches probes on the way and takes out about 12 probes at Pusan’s 3 expo.

However, Pusan’s insane macro kicking in now and he continues attack on NaDa’s expo, seems like NaDa can’t stop the constant flow of zeal goon and even high temp. Continual blue line from Pusan’s gates to NaDa’s main, and NaDa has shit-eating expression on his face.

NaDa GG.

Game 3: GGPlay v Pusan on Ride of Valkyries

GGPlay 7, Pusan 5

GGPlay OL 10 pool, 2 drone, gas build. This guy uses some strange builds -…-
After lings pop, expo, and after 100 gas he pulls gas drones.

Pusan going 1 gate fast tech build. GGPlay lairs, Pusan stargate going up. GGPlay hydra den, Pusan adds robotics. Pusan’s first sair arrives, sees hydra, and Pusan adds support bay for reaver, and continues to add sair. Pusan’s 3 sair catch 4 OL total, reaver out. However GGPlay has lurker ready and forces Pusan to return shuttle with reaver back to defend. GGPlay goes up ramp anyway and Pusan somehow defends with lucky scarabs and reaver splash damage. GGPlay bought a lot of time with that ling lurker attack and his spire is complete now. Pusan loses 2 sair to scourge but still has 5 sair. GGPlay massing muta now, also expands at 10. Pusan taking his natural expo now, GGPlay attacks with muta scourge, takes out around 4 sair and the cannon at Pusan’s expo.

GGPlay again attacks with scourge muta to hunt sair and to continue to threaten Pusan. On his third wave of attacks, GGPlay loses all his sair and can’t protect his expo. GG.

GGPlay advances to the Starleague.

Game 4: Sync v NaDa on Luna

Sync 2 NaDa 8

Both go gas before rax, with Sync slightly faster. Sync starts his fac first but NaDa goes 2 factory simultaneously. Sync goes 1 fac 1 port, NaDa adding on to both facs simultaneously. Sync’s vulture arrives at NaDa’s main, kills 5 scv before dying. NaDa upgrading speed and mine, goes at Sync’s main with vults. Sync good micro with tank to minimize the damage and NaDa loses 4 vults without doing anything significant. Both players now expanding, almost at the same time. A lull in the action as Sync adds facs and NaDa adds starport. Sync is the first to push out and he goes all the way to in front of NaDa’s expo, but siege tanks are ready, and NaDa repels the threat. Sync drops 2 dropships worth of tank and goli into NaDa’s main but NaDa defends well with scv and 2 tank in dropship. NaDa 3 dropships now, more active going around the map and expanding to his mineral expo, but Sync has 2 wraith. Small skirmish as dropships meet, but Sync wins and NaDa forced to retreat. After a lull another skirmish in the center, with both dropship troops and ground troops, but NaDa wins this time as Sync’s dropship arrived a bit late.

Sync expoing now at 5, while NaDa takes 11. Both players now adding significant numbers of vults to their armies, trying to grab greater territory in the center. Sync trying to use vulture guerrilla to hurt NaDa’s economy but it’s mostly unsuccessful, and it’s clear that Sync is now behind, with NaDa having better positioning in the center, 2 up in attack (vs. none for Sync), and also a better economy.

Sync drops 5 dropships worth of troops at NaDa’s 11 expo but it’s stopped by NaDa’s troops there. Sync again goes on the offensive and tries to break through NaDa’s tank line near the center with dropships but NaDa reinforces with his own dropships. NaDa counters by dropping 4 dropships worth in Sync’s undefended 5 expo. Sync forced to lift, and now the game is squarely in favor of NaDa, whose macro has now kicked in full force. He goes up with his entire army, breaks through Sync’s tank line and towards Sync’s base. There’s nothing Sync can do to prevent the line of metal and Sync loses his natural expo. Sync GG.

Game 5: NaDa vs Pusan on Forte

Grudge match for NaDa, starts at 7, Pusan starts at 11.

Both players using very normal builds, Pusan going 2 gate range goons, NaDa going 2 fac. Pusan normal goon harass but NaDa has tanks out already, Pusan going reaver. NaDa progresses up with 3 tank and mine vults, gets all the way up to Pusan’s low ground. In the meanwhile, Pusan reav drops NaDa’s naked main, NaDa forced to abandon his base, goes all-in with scv, 5 vults, 2 tanks. Pusan stops it no problem with the goons he has, so NaDa is forced to back off, and he has very low scv count.

Pusan returns back to NaDa’s main, catches a few scv but loses his reaver. Soon after, Pusan goes back to NaDa’s main with 2 shuttle drop full of 2 reaver 2 zealot 1 goon but somehow NaDa wins the fight with 3 tank and some vults. NaDa goes back towards Pusan’s base with 3 tank and more vults, but Pusan seems to have advantage with 2 shuttles and around 6 goons. NaDa loses everything but he manages to sneak a few vults into Pusan’s expo. However the game is now firmly in Pusan’s favor and he goes back with 2 shuttles, one of which contains a reaver. Despite NaDa’s best efforts, he loses a ton of scv and has 1 tank and a few vultures left. Pusan returns soon after with another 2 dropships worth of troops, and NaDa GG’s.

Pusan advances to Starleague.

So Pusan beats NaDa twice to advance, while GGPlay advances easily with wins over Sync and Pusan. NaDa seemed really out of whack today, while Sync played way too aggressive in all of his games. Who woulda thunk it? a P and a Z advance while the two T's die off.

please don't feel offended by my post, since i really appreciate all your work, but i think it might be rather confusing to post results of the last odt (especially when it's only group c, which means there are still 3 groups to go) when the new season is about to begin. at least to people who don't follow the scene as closely as some of us -including myself- do.

Remember when I called Kingdom the next Reach? Well, I get the same tingle down my spine when I see this guy play. [EDIT: I mean Pusan.]

Still a little rough around the edges (for example, he's got to learn how to time and use cannons), but he's got the raw skills to become an elite toss player if he can keep things up over the next 6-9 months. There's no other "new" toss user out there with as much potential - or as many die-hard fans. This guy is very popular, especially among the male fan base who appreciate his no nonsense "Ji Ho Mode" style of play.

(For those of you who don't know, Pusan's real name is Bak Ji Ho, and "Ji Ho Mode" refers to when he starts warping in like 30+ gates and then POWER, POWER, POWER!! You can hear the OGN announcers every now and then exclaiming "Uh, oh! It's Ji Ho Mode!!!" Very fun to watch.)

i agree and am going to say what i always say when i speak about kingdom: he's theoretically the best protoss player, because he can play a straigt up macro game nearly as good as reach, has an ultra-aggressive pvz and manages to incorporate nal_ra-ish moments of genius into his game. not to mention his goon micro

Pusan's game has definitely improved b/c of his ability to incorporate dt and reaver better, but he only tends to do so in the very beginning of the game from 1 gate tech-- and if he hurts you with his opening then he'll take that advantage to prepare his mass gates/macro (and many times win b/c midgame or so he turns into a toss version of oov). If he wants to go to that next level however he needs to be more creative and daring throughout the game.

Pusan's nickname also is interesting: "Kkol Ah Bak" (Bak being his last name)-- which in Korean means something like "just attack ground your units in there." :-D

The guy just produces mass units and is never shy (sometimes not shy enough :-P) about running his mass units into any sort of defense. So on the plus side, no one is as fearless about throwing his units into a big ass turret minefield tankfield as Pusan. On the negative side, no one loses as many units as well as Pusan :-P

I think Anytime is at the same level as Pusan, and he's also a more a Reach type of toss than a Nal_Raish toss if you know what I mean. His macro midgame can destroy any terran with maybe the only exception oov/nada. I hope to see Anytime and Pusan raping up this OSL, and at least advance to the quarters. The Anytime vs oov is definatly going to be one of the highlight games not only considering their macro abilities but also the fact that Anytime picked Oov. Also Nal_Rock is kinda underestimated, but i think he has some flaws PvT, though he almost covers it with his nice PvZ.

Personally, Stork hasn't impressed me with his play. He's a solid protoss player to be sure, but I don't sense the kind of explosive potential in him that I did in, for example, Reach and Kingdom - and now in Pusan.

I reserve judgment on Anytime. I haven't seen enough of his games (though the fact that he got seeded in the So1 OSL indicates he's no patsy).

Felt like quoting myself

It's good to see people finally appreciates Anytime. I saw one game of him from SKY Proleague about 6 months ago where he crushed his opponent badly with amazing macro. I think his opponent was a big name too. So when he entered Dual in a deadly group with him, Control, Foru and Chojja, I instantly bet him and Chojja, and they both proceeded with Anytime winning Foru first then Control. He also went 1-1 vs July in some SKY proleague matches as well at that time( I have no idea why they played twice) . The rest of his dual league got somwhat easy for him though getting in the same group as Yooi and Doggi. Of course he won those, but Rock gave him some hard competition for the Dual league title winning 2 of the 5 games.

Until then I'd only won points on him so I voted for him vs all his group opponents including oov. The first time I lost points on him was that group game against oov, and for that I did bet on oov for the semis which I shouldnt have done. In the finals he did exactly what I thought he would do - using the macroskills well. Against oov he didnt want that because oov is so tremendous in games like that.

Anytime does not only possess Reachish macro, but he's also able to adapt well to his opponents which he proved in this OSL preparing very well for each of his matches. He lacks Reachs storm skills though, and I believe very well he's capable of much more if he manages to involve templars more in his game.

Even though I woulda liked Boxer getting his 3rd, Im really happy for Anytime because I've followed him closely even after his defeat of Assem on Incubus about a year ago. Also it's been one and a half year since Toss had a title. And Anytime did a July in his first OSL which probably means we'll see alot more of him. I remember people calling July a fluke, but he's been in two quarter finals, and two finals winning one in his apperances in OSL after his first win. I have a feeling Anytime is able to stay in the top now just like July, though I doubt he's able to do as good as July in terms of accomplishments, because that would be a really amazing feat. Time will tell. He's definatly not a fluke though
