Finally, below are game reports for the games in Group A (Groups B and D coming soon!) .

Group A, Game 1: [GsP]JJu ZvP Nal_Rock - Requiem 1.4

The game started with Jju at 9 and Rock at 3. Both players scout towards 6 first.

Jju opens with a 12ish hatch at nat and an 11ish pool. Rock opts for a tech build, going gate gas core.

As Rock's probe harasses Jju's drones, a lone zealot warrior makes his way across the map. However, it retreats with 0 kills. Meanwhile, Jju takes advantage of Rock's lack of Hold Position and gets a drone into his base. It runs around, seeing Rock's Stargate warping in.

With 3 zealots and a goon, Rock heads out, pushing back Jju's 4 slowlings. But Jju refuses to run back to his base, and instead keeps darting for Rock's ramp. Eventually Rock gets tired of running back and forth, and just goes to attack, allowing 3 lings to run around his main at the pursuit of a zealot. Rock makes a poke at Jju's nat, but is repulsed by a sunken and some lings.

Meanwhile, Rock's sair is in the air, but Jju gets hydras and chases it away. It manages to see Jju's lair and hydra den, however.

Rock attacks again, taking down Jju's sunken and a handful of lings and slow hydras. Jju in the meantime sneaks a few more lings into Rock's base, but they meet their demise during the scuffle outside Jju's nat and we never see what becomes of them.

Rock flies his sair around Jju's main, watching his tech. Jju starts a spire, but ironically Rock may have missed it.

Soon, Rock storms out of his main with about 8 speedlots. But Jju has a lurker at his nat, and lings to block the zealots from running down his ramp. Unable to hurt Jju with his zeals, Rock starts cannons in front of his ramp + nat and prepares to expand.

Rock has some 15 speedlots and an archon, while Jju knocks his sair out of the air with scourge. Both players silently amass, with Rock taking his nat and Jju taking the gas "island" by threading a drone thorugh his nat minerals.

Now with even more zeals, Rock heads out and camps outside Jju's nat. He brings an observer along and looks set to attack. Jju burries more lurkers and starts more sunkens, repelling Rock and scourging his obs in the process.

Next, Jju lifts a lurker behind Rock's nat, making his probes run. He also lifts a second lurker into Rock's main, but it is soon uprooted by some zealots.

Rock starts an expansion at the 12 main, but Jju finds it with some mutas. They stop some warping cannons, but are chased away by some archons. Then, Jju brings a larger flock of mutas into Rock's main, razing the 3 cannons at his nexus and chasing his probes away. Meanwhile, Rock has populated his expansion at 12 and rebuilt some cannons. He has also rid his nat of the lurker behind it.

Jju keeps the pressure up, attempting (and failing) to harass Rock's 12 expo with a lurker, while successfully dropping his main with a bunch of units and sending the probes running yet again. Rock wastes about a minute clearing his base of lurkers, thanks to some scourge from Jju.

In addition to harassing Rock, Jju has been macroing, and now reveals a hefty army of hydra/lurk. Rock's zeal/archon/HT does its best to delay the army's advance across the map, and eventually succeeds. But during the battle, Jju lifts 2 lurkers out of his army and drops them in Rock's base again! After a while some DT/zeal/obs clears the lurks away, but Jju doesn't let him rest and drops his 12 o'clock expo. He manages to kill some cannons but is soon chased off.

A follow-up drop at the expo is also forced to flee, but a third lurker behind Rock's nat minerals succeeds in stopping the mining there yet again.

During the action, Jju has stealthily expanded to the 6 main and nat. Jju continues to pressure with drops, using another hydra/lurk drop at the 12 expo. This time he is able to burrow a lurker that stops mining on half of Rock's minerals, while Rock waits for an obs to arrive.

Jju has hive tech and cracklings now, and he tries a head-on many-ling attack at Rock's nat. Goons and psi storm make mince meat of it, however. Also, Rock is finally able to rid his 12 main of Jju's lurker.

Rock takes a jab at Jju's sunkened 6 nat, but is forced to run in the face of ultra/ling. Jju's army follows Rock back to his nat and tries to overrun him, but Rock's goon/archon are able to defend. And while that was happening, Jju put ANOTHER lurker behind Rock's nat!

Rock appears to be struggling, while Jju must be bathing in resources from his expos spanning half the map. He uses a large ultra/ling drop in Rock's main to try and end the game, while simultaneously hitting his nat, but Rock's forces manage to clear out his main AND keep his nat. But his remaining army is small, while Jju has an abundance of ultra/crack. Lather, rinse, repeat: another drop in main + frontal assault. Amazingly, Rock's troops succeed again in recovering his main and keeping his nat.

Rock now has a zeal/archon/goon/HT army and tries to launch an attack of his own, but he must recall his troops back to his nat as it falls to a group of cracklings. After this loss, Rock re-positions his units near the entrance to the 12 nat, which he is attempting to secure. Jju confronts him, then tries to run past and stop the nexus at the 12 nat, but he is only able to reduce its HP to 1/2.

Rock now discovers that Jju, in addition to having the whole left half of the map, has also taken the gas "island" behind the 12 nat! He tries to stop it with a 2-archon drop, but is forced to flee as Jju starts multiple sunkens.

After amassing ultra/ling for some time, Jju launches his final, 3-way attack: an ultra/ling drop at the 12 main, plus a bunch of lings sent towards Rock's abandoned main, plus an ultra/ling attack from behind the minerals at the 12 nat. Yes, from behind. No, none of the minerals were mined-out. While his army met little resistance at the 12 and 9 o'clock mains, his units at 12 nat could not overcome the minerals blocking their path. Nevertheless, Rock could do nothing, and after throwing the remnants of his army at Jju's nat, he typed out.

[GsP]JJu > Nal_Rock

Group A, Game 2: iloveoov TvT Sync - Requiem 1.4

oov started at 12, Sync at 9.

oov makes two rines while Sync makes one, and both station their rines at their ramp as their facs float towards one another.

oov gets 2 early vults into Sync's main before Sync's first tank can appear, killing several SCVs. Both players have a fac and starport, and both are making tanks. However, oov is also making wraiths and starting his cloaking upgrade.

Sync builds a turret on the cliff overlooking oov's main and sieges his tanks there. oov sieges his own tanks in front of his nat. He has also secretly expoed to the 3 o'clock main and transfers some SCVs to it.

As both players amass tanks and gols, Sync finds oov's 3 expo with an SCV and sends a dropship there, but oov sends 2 tanks to defend and Sync can do no damage.

Sync has now finished a CC at his nat, and transfers SCVs there. Rather than attacking oov's expo, he starts dropping tanks and golies in oov's main just below the cliff where his tanks are stationed. oov using SCVs, tanks and gols to kill the invaders, but Sync drops more and holds on to his position. oov tries to reclaim his main again while Sync drops more reinforcements, but oov wins the battle and clears his main of Sync's units -- though Sync still has a few tanks overlooking his main from the nearby cliff.

Some minor dropship harassment from oov, who drops 4 golies behind Sync's nat, stopping mining there for a bit. Sync has also expoed to 6, but oov drops that expo with 4 golies as well, tearing down the CC and forcing SCVs to flee. Just as Sync is reclaiming 6, oov sends 3-4 dropships to Sync's nat and unloads right in his mineral line. Sync arrives to defend, but oov picks up his remaining tank/gol and re-drops them behind the nat. Sync finally dispatches these units with sieged tanks from his main and nat.

oov continues to harass Sync, now dropping a large force of tank/gol on the "island" just above Sync's nat, and uses his siege tanks to destroy Sync's nat geyser. Sync eliminates the threat with sieged tanks from his nat, then pushes towards oov's nat. oov's own army arrives to defend, and a skirmish leaves neither player in control of the middleground. Unable to push into the other's nat, both players decide to siege up and fortify the area outside Sync's nat -- though Sync still has safe ground access to the middle of the map.

Sync has now rebuilt his CC at the 6 main and a new one at the 6 nat. oov sends a handful of golies to 6, forcing the CC at the nat to the "island" to the left. Sync's sieged tanks prevent oov from entering the 6 main.

Sync counter-harasses with 4 upgraded vults at oov's now-undefended 3 main, killing a number of SCVs and forcing the rest to run. oov sends 4 golies to 3 o'clock and clears his expo of the threat.

On the whole, oov has been outperforming Sync, and now has a significantly larger group of golie/tank. Since Sync's wall of defense only covers his nat, oov is free to march half his army down to 6 and siege up at the 6 nat, effectively terminating both the 6 main expo and the nearby "island". Sync tries to re-take this ground, but oov is already sieged up and Sync's tanks are nowhere near enough to uproot them. The game has now slipped out of Sync's hands. Sync knows this, and taps out.

iloveoov > Sync

Group A, Winners Final: [GsP]JJu ZvT iloveoov - Dream of Balhae

Winner qualifies for the next Starleague!

oov touched down at 5 and Jju arose from 2. oov opted for a cc-rax build, Jju for a hatch at his nat and a lair. oov floated his first rax down onto the mainland and made 2 rines to scout. It found Jju at 2, but could not reach Jju's drones. He also moved his rine around to see that Jju had not yet taken his nat gas. oov had finished an academy and a second rax as well, and began producing M&M on the mainland, while Jju made a sunken at his nat and started on lurker tech.

oov used a group of about 10 rines and 2 medics to attack Jju's nat from the right. Jju had only a single sunken and 3-4 un-upgraded hydras to defend, and once the sunken fell Jju had no choice but to abandon his nat gas for the moment, starting a new sunken out of range of oov's marines so that he could retake it later.

Jju landed a bunch of lurker/ling on the mainland left of his base, but could not advance past oov's M&M.

oov, now armed with tanks and a dropship, ferried 3 tanks to the mainland and sieged up behind Jju's nat. Jju had secretly made a flock of mutas, and attacked the terran position with lurker/ling/muta. However, oov held his position and continued to pelt Jju's nat hatch with tank shells.

Meanwhile, Jju had expanded to the top- and bottom-left corners while oov quietly amassed 4-port cloacked wraiths. Once he had about 12 wraiths, oov set course for Jju's undefended expos. When Jju's 4 mutas ran into oov's fleet, he promptly GG'd. I do not think Jju had an evo chamber, and thus no way of stopping oov's wraiths (let alone his ground force).

iloveoov > [GsP]JJu
iloveoov advances to the next Starleague!

Group A, Losers Semi: Nal_Rock PvT Sync - Neo Guillotine 2.1

Loser must re-qualify for the Challenge League.

The Rock comes to rest at 2 and scouted downwards, finding Sync at 5. He uses this opportunity to steal Sync's gas while taking his own. Sync reacts by waiting for the assim to finish, then attacking it with 5 SCVs. But with only a few HP left, he waits until Rock's scouting probe was dead before finishing off the assim and starting a refinery.

Rock, in the meantime, looks to take advantage of the situation with ranged goon tech. Sync builds a bunker behind his rax and depot, which is outranged by the goons and cannot protect his wallin. Sync loses some SCVs repairing his rax until his first tank finally emerges.

Sync erects turrets at his wall and minerals, sieging his 2 tanks beside them. This is good, since Rock was planning on dropping Sync's main but can do no damage against his defenses.

Rock has expands to his nat, while Sync has 2 facs and a port. Sync uses a dropship to drop 4 vults at Rock's nat, killing a few probes before Rock's goons arrive. He then picks his vult up and lifts them into Rock's main, but Rock has goons waiting and destroys the intruders.

Sync starts a CC in his main. Rock's shuttle comes by and drops 2 DTs nearby, which kill the building SCV. However, his harassment is soon cut short by some vults, comsat sweeps, and later a wraith. Rock also expands to the 11 nat.

With his nat CC finished, Sync uses his rax, ebay, and a depot to form a wall at his main/nat choke. He sends out a vulture gang to harass Rock, but only manages to kill a few probes. Rock, on the other hand, has been amassing goons for quite a while, and he decides that he is capable of ending the game right now. He uses a shuttle to drop some units around Rock's 4-5 defending tanks, while more than 2 dozen goons approach his wall and focus fire on his rax, killing it in a matter of seconds. Rock microes his goons onward, and soon he has cleared away all of Sync's defenders. Sync tries to salvage the game with a few units out of his facs, but his efforts are futile as goons and now speedzeals pour into his base. He types out.

Nal_Rock > Sync
Sync is out completely, and must go back to the Challenge League Prelims.

Group A, Losers Final: [GsP]JJu ZvP Nal_Rock - Alchemist 1.0

Winner heads to the Starleague, loser heads to the Challenge League!

The Rock returned for vengeance at 11, while his re-foe Jju plotted his re-game at 6. His decision: 9 pool! 9-pool 9-gas 9-ovie, to be specific. Rock saw this with his scouting probe and added a second gateway in his main. Jju also started a second hatch.

Jju's lings stampeded towards Rock's main, but Rock had just finished his 2nd and 3rd zeals. With good zeal micro by Rock, he was able to prevent any losses.

Rock did not take his gas, but instead continued to produce zeals and warp in a forge. After starting a cannon near his minerals, he finally started his assimilator. Jju, meanwhile, had morphed a lair and a sunken at his minerals. Jju also began a hydra den.

His gas complete, Rock started a cyber core and marched about 9 zealots down towards Jju's base. Jju responded by morphing a second sunken for defense. preventing Rock's zealots from causing any harm. However, while his zealots poked around near the bottom of Jju's base, Jju slipped out 2 hydras and started morphing them into lurkers at 8 o'clock.

Rock had begun producing goons, and started a pylon at his choke (facing Jju). He also placed a unit on his ramp, which faced away from Jju, but Jju had no intent to back-attack.

At first, Rock positioned his zealots to block Jju's choke, but strangely decided to move them to the right, perhaps to get a look at the rest of Jju's main. Well, whatever his intent, he allowed Jju to run about 2 groups of lings out of his base to join his 2 now-ready lurkers in an assault on Rock's main.

Rock was far from prepared, and had only a handful of zeals, goons, and a warping cannon for defence. As a result, he was near-overwhelmed by Jju's lurker/ling and was forced to fall back from his choke. Jju accepted Rock's invitation with pleasure: he entered his base and promptly ran his lurkers to the back of Rock's mineral line. Now, Rock's earlier cannon was intended to protect his gateways from ling harassment, and not to cover his mineral line. Furthermore, Rock had built NO other cannons nor made any preparations for such an event. Consequently, his mining operations ceased.

In desperation, Rock started a cannon beside his nexus near his minerals, but when it finished it was useless and Rock still couldn't mine anything. Meanwhile, his army of slowzeals could do little to delay the advance of more lurker/ling from Jju. With nothing to do and nowhere to go, Rock conceded.

[GsP]JJu > Nal_Rock
Rock returns to the Challenge League next season, while Jju moves on to the next Starleague!

That's it, folks! Come back later for reports of Groups B and D. And don't forget to click the ads on the way out!

Edits:
1. I'm not actually sure what happens to the players who don't qualify for the Starleague, so I removed those pieces of mis-info.
2. Filled in the ?'s in the list of players, thanks to GTR-2-GO .
3. Got the right info for Edit #1 from Raidern and Cambium .

The 3rd place dude gets to go to the next OCL directly. The fourth place has to start from the bottom of the chain again.

Is that the unsure part?
