Special Ban List Initiative The forum has been slowing down and as multiple long time players are and have been on the ban list for quite a long time, we have decided that this would be a good time to offer a one time deal to clear some bad records and reduce the size of the ban list while getting the TL Mafia Library up to speed. How does it work? In exchange for decreasing your ban count by one, you can contribute to the TL Mafia Library. First, post in here saying you are doing your service for your ban. Next, head over to the TL Mafia Library thread. For one ban, you will need to gather all the data for Three TL Mafia games which aren't currently in the library. This includes writing a summary of the game, which may require you to read the game. The Mafia XV summary is the guideline for what we expect when you write a summary. Before you get started, make sure you post in the Library thread which games you are gathering data for, so that multiple people don't go after the same game. Also, collecting various statistics can replace gathering data for a game. For example, helping Meapak_Ziphh count the number of games per players would qualify as a substitute. Collecting other statistics that may be useful will also serve as a substitute, as long as someone (Kitaman27, flamewheel, etc) approves beforehand. All submissions must be approved by Kitaman27/Blazinghand/Foolishness. Unapproved submissions will not count towards your 3 contributions. As we don't want this to be a perpetual alternative to sitting out bans, this is a limited time offer only. You have infinity weeks to declare your intention to participate in this programme, but there is no immediate deadline for you to submit your contributions.

After a host modkilled a player for inactivity on D1 who had a 3 page filter and voted (but in wrong thread) Having reviewed the case, taking a look at the series of posts you made after the modkill: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/mafia/482487-hajime-no-ippo-maifa?user=Koshi&page=9 The posting was not acceptable based on the rules of the game (and common rules about modkills anyways) so a 1-game ban was appropriate. The reason you got a 3-game ban, judging by what the hosts posted, and your moderation history was due to factors beyond the 1-game ban: 1. You had previously gotten one ban, which means your "previous bans" count was 1, meaning the smallest ban you could get was 3 games. 2. You had two warnings, though only one applies. One you got a month earlier in march (still active), and one you got in September of the previous year (expired in December). The rules then (and now): On September 04 2013 04:42 GMarshal wrote: Punishments There are three categories of punishments: semi-permanent bans, punishments following the Banned Game Count, and warnings. Semi-permanent bans happen after especially egregious actions in games, such as threatening to ruin the game. Expect these punishments to last months if not years. If you get removed from this, your Banned Game Count will be artificially inflated. The Banned Game Count applies to most modkills (including modkills for inactivity) and is calculated as follows: 2N - 1 where N = the number of times you have been banned. So the first time you get banned, your count is 1. The second time, your Count is 3. If you are modkilled for going inactive in 2 games at once, your Banned Game Count will be calculated as if you were modkilled in one game, but you will receive a warning upon being taken off the Ban List . We reserve the right to artificially inflate your Banned Game Count based upon conduct not meriting a semi-permanent ban, but also not meriting a standard ban. Warnings are generally given out if the host is trying to be nice, or your conduct doesn't quite meet what they think is ban-worthy. Each warning you get adds 1 to your Banned Game Count the next time you are banned. Generally hosts are less likely to give you leniency if you already have a warning. You can be removed from the warning list after playing 3 games with no action taken against you. Request: As the system goes, you did something for which you'd get a 1-game ban as a base. Previous Ban: As someone who had previously been banned (in Jack of all Trades Mafia (link)), you instead get a 3-game ban. Taking a look at this, this was a run of the mill ban, and you laudably sat out Mafia Mini Mafia despite GM's slow motion, so nothing unusual here. Oustanding Warning: You had one outstanding warning, from Mafia XXX. So, 1 game ban, +2 for previous banned game, +1 for 1 active warning comes out to a 4 game ban if GM had been paying attention. In general, it seems like you have been eager to play TL Mafia and could be a valuable member of the community, despite your intransigence dealing with hosts, co-hosts, and other players. GM didn't actually review your case in any meaningful way; this was during the last year of his ban list moderation when he basically didn't read the list and just approved things. I suspect that if he had time to look over things you'd have gotten a 4 game ban, one for the one-game ban your rule violation actually merited, two more based on previous ban, and one because of the +1 your pre-existing warning gives you. So, you have a 4-game ban. Since you've asked me for this review, and you did indeed not get modkilled or push boundaries in the 2 games you played in while banned, and managed to keep your level of personal insults on this side of the line, I'm reducing the 4-game ban to a 3-game ban in a show of good faith. Since you've already sat out two games, you only have one ban left. You're now free to play TL Mafia once you've sat out one more game, OR contributed to our renewed library initiative!
