Bum says "probably" because he is showing his own uncertainty about Wiley's alignment. The scumslip is in the choice of the word "wrong," and just the whole idea that he would release his pressure just because he was "wrong."
So he wouldn't release the pressure if it was a bus? That idea just makes no sense from a town perspective.
