I don't follow the newbie games but it seems like you all know each other. Gimme your meta thoughts on each other. Right now I only really have a sense for how VE and marv play out of everyone in this game. Are you asking for everyone's filters from prior games?
Lord no. I'm interested in just quick summaries of your observations of the people you've played with before.
For instance:
VE - as town tends to be spammy, more composed as scum (but got called out for it last game and is therefore at least theoretically capable of masking that). Very active. marv - as both alignments is always reading the thread and reacting to it. prefers quick-paced discussion to longer posts but will make the big cases if he has to. has a rep as afearsome mafia player but I've personally never played against him, only with him as town. very unafraid of the spotlight.

He does it as a reaction to the game starting generally, and his purpose varies with game. Suffice to say he'll go through with it if we decide to do it, but no town ever has ever. I think, anyway. Using this context regarding Palmar, what justification do you have for asking for me to vote for him if the only basis for his alignment is coming from a null tell considering he does this nearly every game. I'd prefer to hear it from him what his motive was exactly in proposing and endorsing a random lynch. If he isn't forthcoming about it today then I'll start with the voting.

Fair enough.
I actually quite like this answer, as it tables the discussion and puts the ball in Palmar's court...someplace I always like the ball to be.
Care to comply with talis' request if you can? I'm actually quite interested to hear what you guys have to say about each other. ^^

Do you think VE seriously wants to lynch palmar? What do you think his motivations are for prodding you about it?
|
Actually, VE do you really want to push palmar? I may be reading things completely wrong but I get the impression you're just using him as a tool to poke newbies with (no offense, newbies).
|
I mean, that's where my vote is, right? Until I come up with a scummier candidate (these guys have explained themselves fairly well and we have a lot of non-entities this game) I'm relatively happy with my lynch choice. If you have a better alternative, I'm all ears.

He's been a scum coach in one or two of my newbie games here, probably also while playing games on his own, so he's not someone to take lightly when it comes to this game.
I'll say this as a question since I don't want to assume it: VE, would it be true if I said you are the type who enjoys this game when it moves almost too fast to keep two contiguous complete thoughts on the same page? Does this stem from the fact that it's a Mini game and there are half as many players to keep thing moving along?
|
I love playing regardless of the speed of the thread. I mean, if no one is posting that's not fun for anyone...but if everyone is posting I really couldn't care less how many pages there are. So yes I guess. Keeping scum talking fast opens them up to making mistakes. That's if scum are talking.
Generally speaking, Minis just move faster, because yes - there are fewer players and everyone has a larger stake in the thread...as such, more of peoples' individual thoughts get put into the thread...ideally.
|
Actually I take that back...Normals move a lot faster. Do you feel you're having a hard time keeping up with this thread Obvious?
|
The people I have played with are ShadySands and iamperfection. Limited sample size though. ~1.5 days total
Shady can tunnel hard as town. More lurky as mafia. iamperfection doesn't like being pushed for analysis, even as town. can appear scummy.
I wouldn't read too much into their meta because they're probably still really fluid.
In my past 2 games I've tended to be very controversial early d1 to attract suspicion.

Probably for statements like that. LOL
Shady CAN tunnel, GAH. Do you think that's going to be a liability in the days to come if he's town?

Iamperfection - semi-quirky player who sometimes likes to refer to himself in the third person and in theme with his own name. My experience with him was in a game where I died D1 to a lynch I never really defended myself from, so I don't have much to go on in terms of interaction, but that was Newbie Mini Mafia XXI if you feel like looking up a previous game of us together.I stopped following that game soon after I died and moved on to another game.
Shady Sands - I know him as an aggressive but sometimes misguided town member who was unafraid to go after people no matter what. It's possible he's changed his MO a bit now that he's swimming with the big sharks.

Well in case you guys weren't aware, Chezinu has a bit of a reputation as a trolly player here on TL, and he's making a special effort to play a "sane" game this game. You should feel special...I know I do.

Not presently finding it too difficult, it's actually a nice change of pace from my previous games that I have something to look forward to every time I go grab a drink or something. I can't wait to see what kind of night life this thread presents. Maybe we can set up a disco ball, some sweet techno jams, and dance while we scum hunt?
|
Perhaps...let's see how well you handle just scumhunting first, eh?

And for what it's worth, I'm listening to Mudvayne right now, Mr. Bungle next...techno isn't in the rotation for...neigh on forever.

Regarding shady, I really like Obvious' description

Misguided being the money analysis. I wouldn't write him off because he clearly puts a lot of effort into the game, but I don't think his cases are very strong.

To jump back to the rando-lynch topic: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=359836¤tpage=12#235
In this post you explain the strategy, but it doesn't seem particularly strong.
1. There is a good argument for a townie to be against it: more likely to kill town than mafia. 2. If it becomes policy, mafia would have to be insane to try and back out... particularly after a name is chosen. 3. If it is adopted unanimously, there will be no 'voting evidence' to look at later on in the game.
