Introduction:
Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia.
The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play. I will not compensate for ignorance.
Rules:
Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to):
1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information.
2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles.
5. Posting screenshots of your inbox.
6. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host.
7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits.
10. Sharing accounts with other players unless cleared by the host in advance. Otherwise, only you may post on your account.
11. Breadcrumbing the specific phrasing of your role PM. Do not compare the phrasing in your role PM to prove your alignment. You can claim the abilities you have, but you can't use the specific phrasing of your role PM.
Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe.

Activity:
You must post in this thread once per day/night cycle and vote every day while you are alive. If you fail to do so, you will be modkilled. Newbie games tend to have people who decide not to participate. I will not tolerate this, if you don't think you can play, then don't sign up. To confirm you have bothered to read my wonderful OP. I will only accept you into this game if you write "I will be active" in your sign up post.

Editing:
Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. This is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything.
Inappropriate posts:
If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM a host, Flamewheel, or Mig before involving the TL staff. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally.
I expect everyone to treat each other civilly. Attack the argument, not the player. Failure to do so will result in a warning, followed by a modkill if inappropriate posting continues.
Reporting posts:
The report button is a nice feature for regular TL, but not for this forum. We prefer to deal with things in house if possible to avoid confusion among the TL staff. If you have a problem with how someone is posting, talk to the host, co-host, Flamewheel, or Mig before using your report button. Please do not use your report button for anything other than inappropriate posts which you feel are not being dealt with adequately.
Ban discussions:
Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.
Play to win.
This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.

Voting rules:
1. Voting is done in this thread. Do not PM me your vote.
2. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote Kavdragon. Votes not done in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will update vote counts whenever I get the chance.
3. No conditional voting.
4. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game.
5. In the event of a tie the person with the most votes first is lynched.
6. Voting is mandatory. You may NOT abstain.
7. Whomever has the most votes at the end of the day will be lynched!

This game is open to Newbies Only. That means 3 games or less played on TL.

This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment. If you want to use this game to sit out your ban, please PM Flamewheel or post in the Ban List.
Replacements
This game will use replacements if possible. You are encouraged to find your own replacement.

There are no clues.
PMs
PMs are not allowed in this game.
Time Cycle:
This game will follow a 24 hour night/48 hour day cycle. In case I am not able to post around deadline, any votes after the 48 hour mark will not count and the game will be put on halt until the night post is up. Currently the deadline is 00:00 GMT (+00:00), but that is subject to change. Actions/votes will be accepted up to and including the posted time, but not after.

Roles and Setup information
This is a semi-open setup, that is, exact role counts will not be known, but the possible roles will be known. All roles presented here are not necessarily in the game, but no roles not included here are present.
The presence or absence of one role has NO impact on the presence or absence of any other role. For example, there can be a roleblocker when there are no town power roles.
Town Roles
Senior (Townie) - They told you these would be the golden years, and despite the occasional bet wetting, life is pretty good. The staff clean up after you and you are as social as a septegenarian can be. That's why those half-wits trying to ruin the place need to go. You have no special abilities, unless complaining about the how things were better in your day counts. However you and your brethren are determined to cleanse the home of those seeking to cause a fuss. Everyday, you must vote for one of your peers to meet their maker.
McNosey (Cop) - It wasn't your choice to have the name you do. Life is full of such absurdities. In the spirit of accepting your fate, you spend your hours poking your nose into other people's business. What started as innocent gossip soon became an obsession. Every night you can sneak into someone's bedroom and read their daily journal entry revealing their alignment. Any fellow seniors return Senior, whilst the pushy nuisance causing ragamuffins return Clan of the Elderly.
Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan (Medic) - You may be over 80 but your lips are hot as ever. This is probably due to the medication but you aren't complaining. You've saved soldiers since the Korean War and by god you'll keep doing it. Sure the number of soldiers around is limited but you satisy your need to play Florence Nightingale by protecting your fellow seniors. Each night you can climb into one of your fellow seniors` beds, where you keep them nice and cosy. Your hot lips work their magic and will keep that person alive despite the best efforts of the Elderly Clan. However, due your obsession with saving others, should they decide you are a tastier target, you would rather sacrifice yourself than see your fellow senior hurt.
Sgt Steve McQueen (Veteran) - War, bah! At least the Nazi's had a little huzpah. If they can't kill you then as far as you're concerned the Elderly Clan can kiss your wrinkled ass. Death can wait, you have nurses to seduce. You can survive one night attack, after which you become just like your fellow seniors. Well almost, you still have the ability to seduce women a third of your age.
James "Hands" McLovin (Jailkeeper) - As Tim McEvoy said "my luck is so bad, if it were raining pussy I'd get hit in the head with a dick." You're not sure why that is relevant but you find it amusing. You also find it hilarious to sneak into people's bedrooms, blockade the door and tie them up. For some reason this seems natural to you. To be fair your neighbour was arguing with the nurse that the palm tree was watching him so maybe it isn't so strange. Any who, you manage to get away with your odd behaviour each and every night until you die. Life is like that.
Steve “Captain AMERICA” Jones (Vigilante) – Commies, damn commies everywhere. The USSR has broken up but that never stopped a real patriot. You know there are commies hiding under your bed and you are determined to take them out. Hell, you are so patriotic you make Flamewheel look like Stalin. To cleanse this ward of the minions of the evil empire you decide to kill one of your fellow seniors. However, like any true super hero, you are a coward at heart and so can only attempt this once, and under the cover of night. Blame it on your age if you want.
Dumbass (Miller) – It’s not your fault that your marbles went missing. You were sure you put them on your bedside table but for the life of you, you cannot find them. The nurse won’t allow you to wonder the corridors during the day but hell you need your marbles so you sneak out at night to find them. Unfortunately, your dumb idea means that if McNosey sees you, he will think you are one of the Clan of the Elderly. However, you couldn’t be bothered joining those rogue whippersnappers, you are a regular Senior. In acceptance of your impending doom, you console yourself that your true alignment will be revealed if you die.
Town Win Condition - The town wins when there are no mafia left in the game
Mafia Roles
Elder (Mafia Goon) - You're old and you hate it. You are just really, really mad. The nurses won't even "keep you warm" at night any more and that just really gets up your nose. You decide that the only way to improve your station is to throw your lot in with the Clan of the Elderly. They seem to understand your pain. You don't have any random habits other than bitching, but that never stopped you. You win when they do.
Fagin (Mafia Roleblocker) - 1968, the highlight of your career. How you fooled them enough to let you on stage, and then to film the whole thing, is beyond your understanding, but you still dream of that time. Oliver, that little shit, got all the cred but you were the real star. At least you gained one useful talent. You still know how to pick them pockets, so everynight you steal the warden's keys. You can lock someone in their room once per night. Why? Because fuck em that's why.
Houdini (Mafia Framer) – Or so you wish you were. In reality, you know you’re a third-rate, washed up magician but you enjoy the looks your name gets from people. Aside from drooling and occasionally singing Sinatra, you blend in well with the crowd but you don’t like them. Their sycophantic applause before, during and well, well after you finish your afternoon shows demonstrates their feeble minds. They have no respect for your brilliance and so you have joined the Clan of the Eldery in the desperate hope that with the overthrow of the idiots who run this place, you will regain your former glory. Your weak hands no longer conjure rabbits from top-hats but you can throw a blanket over people. You have two, one red and one green. If you use the red one, then if McNosey checks them, he will think they have joined your clan. If you use the green one, he will think they are normal Seniors. It just goes to show how dim these people really are.
Walter Matthau(Mafia Godfather) - Grumpy old men doesn't cut it anymore. You are beyond old, and beyond grumpy. You want revenge. You want power. You want god damn prunes and you will destroy the place if that is what it takes to get them. You rant, complain, bitch and moan but nothing ever changes. On the plus side it gives you a perfect excuse to wonder the halls at night muttering about the ineptitude of kids these days. If you are discovered you look like all the other old bastards, even to McNosey. In reality, you and your fellow members of the Clan of the Elderly are planning to take over the home.
Mafia Win condition - The mafia wins when they equal or outnumber the remaining townies.
I will NOT be posting sample PMs. The above role descriptions will be your PMs unless you are a Miller in which case you get the standard Senior PM. If you have any questions about them, PM me. DO NOT mention anything about your PM in the game. If I think you are deliberately trying to use the wording, name or anything from your PM, to prove your alignment, you will be modkilled.

I like the 4-man hosting team. Between hosts and coaches maybe we'll get enough people on board to play a super mini game. It'll be good though since you're from all around there'll always be someone nearby to answer questions.

Are Millers Self-Aware or do they think they are regular Seniors?

The Medic role description makes it sound like if the person you were protecting is targeted by any KP, the medic dies instead. Is this intended?

Miller are not self-aware. Medics work in the usual manner. They can protect other Seniors but they cannot protect themselves.

I, too, am curious how the other people I've played newbie games with will learn and adapt. Lets just hope that there's no replacements!

The scum coach will be constantly available in the scum thread, proferring advice of his own free will and generally helping out, but I can't help you unless you ask me for help.
Things I'll be glad to help out with:
>When to defend yourself from attacks, what to do to demonstrate you're town, and how to avoid getting sidetracked.
>How to look for clues and what kind of things mark someone as scum, or as town, and how to attack people to generate clues.
>How to formulate a case and get other people on board.

Just kidding, I promise not to be that guy that makes you regret hosting the game. I do have a lot of questions though, mostly about the roleblockers.
If the jailer roleblocks the mafia roleblocker, who in turn RBs someone else, I assume the jailer takes precedence? And vice versa, if the mafia roleblocks the jailer who roleblocks someone else? Does a RBd veteran still survive a hit? That one's a stretch but just theoretically... What if the vigilante hits the roleblocker and the roleblocker blocks the vigilante? Also, if the mafia is down to one and is jailed, is KP still 1 even from jail? I think I need a PEMDAS equation here or something.
And also, in case I die early, could I be switched to an observer to neutrally observe the rest of the game?
