Introduction:
Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia.
The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play. I will not compensate for ignorance.
Rules:
Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to):
1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information.
2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles.
5. Posting screenshots of your inbox.
6. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host.
7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits.
10. Sharing accounts with other players. Only you may post on your account.
Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe.

This is mod font. It is reserved for moderators. Please do not use it.

This is question font. Use it to ask the moderators questions about the rules. Please do us a favor and read the rules before you ask anything.
Activity:
You must post in this thread once per day/night cycle and vote every day while you are alive. If you fail to do so, you will be modkilled.

Spam is not tolerated, nor is any off-topic material. Do not discuss Proleague here. Do not talk about Starcraft II here. Play Mafia here.
Editing:
Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. This is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything.
Inappropriate posts:
If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM Me before involving the TL staff. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally, after the game has ended. I have zero tolerance for flaming.
Reporting posts:
The report button is a nice feature for regular TL, but not for this forum. We prefer to deal with things in house if possible to avoid confusion among the TL staff. If you have a problem with how someone is posting, talk to me. Please do not use your report button for anything during the game, PM me instead
Ban discussions:
Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.
Play to win.
This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.

Out of thread communication:
It is common for mafia (and town circles if PMs are allowed) to use a medium outside of TL such as QuickTopics or IRC to communicate during the game. Please be mindful that other players may be more tech savvy than you and they may attempt impersonate members of your team or attempt to infiltrate your chat. You use these media at your own risk.
Voting rules:
1. Voting is done in this thread. Please keep votes here, and only vote here. Do not PM me your vote.
2. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote: GMarshal. Votes not done in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will update vote counts whenever I get the chance.
3. No conditional voting.
4. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game.
5. This game uses Extended Majority Lynch. That is, at the deadline the player with a majority of votes is lynched (majority = 1/2 the remaining players, rounded down + 1), if no one has a majority then no lynch will take place.
6. Voting is mandatory. You may NOT abstain. You MAY vote for a no lynch by posting ##Vote: No Lynch

This game is open to anyone, but we are using Wisdom of the Crowds, see the signups post for details. Signups will remain open until all 12 spots have been filled .

Modkills:
This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment. If you want to use this game to sit out your ban, please PM Flamewheel or post in the Ban List.
Replacements
This game uses replacements. Replacements will be made in the game until I run out/decide I don't need them anymore. If a player is modkilled during the designated time, then they will be replaced by a player on the replacement list.
Clues:
There are NO clues.
PMs
PMs are NOT allowed in this game.
Time Cycle:
This game will follow a 24 hour night/48 hour day cycle. In case I am not able to post around deadline, any votes after the 48 hour mark will not count and the game will be put on halt until the night post is up. Currently the deadline is 02:00 GMT (+00:00), but that is subject to change. Actions/votes will be accepted up to and including the posted time, but not after. Remember, only votes up to the deadline will be counted, that is a vote at 01:59 GMT (+00:00) will be counted, one at 02:00 GMT (+00:00) will not

Role List
In the heart of a city, in an unnamed land, the forces of change stir. There are those who would maintain the status quo, those who would resist the forces of change, and the peoples revolution. Those who would seek to stomp out the seeds of equality and brotherhood, and supplant it with the iron booted dictatorship of the Monarchy. The revolution is at its zenith. Will freedom prevail and the streets run with the blood of the monarchists, or will the followers of the despicable king succeed in sabotaging the people's uprising. Only time will tell.
This is a semi-open setup, that is, you will know what roles can be present, but not the exact role counts.
Revolutionaries
Revolutionaries (Town) win condition The Revolutionaries win when the success of the revolution is assured. That is when no Royalists (mafia) or third parties with conflicting win conditions remain.
Glorious Revolutionary! (Vanilla Townie)
You are a brother (or sister) in the people's glorious uprising.You used to be called a plebeian by the corrupt and disgusting royalty, but now you have taken justice into your hands and you lust for the feel of royal blood on your hands. As a member of the people's committee for justice, you may vote every day for who is to be put to death,
People's Medic (Medic)
An upstanding citizen with some advanced training, you used to be called on to heal the horses of the royalty. No more! Now equipped with your array of leeches, tourniquets and bloodletting knives, you will save the people from gunshot wounds and stabbings alike. You may protect one person per night from the first kp to target them. Neither you nor the player you save will be informed if any kp are deflected. You may not target yourself
Committee Head (Detective)
You used to be the town beggar, but now that the revolution has succeeded, you are in a position of great power. Even though you can hardly read you have been assigned to head the committee by investigating people and determining where their true loyalties lie! You'll see who they talk to and snoop through their genealogical tree to see if they are loyal to the People or monarchist scum. You may check a player each night and find if they are a Monarchist or Not a Monarchist. You are guaranteed to be sane, but beware of things that may interfere with your results.
Revolutionary Justice! (Vigilante)
You are an ex-convict, recently released from the state prison in the middle of all the riots, where you were unjustly imprisoned for having murdered five of the royalist pigs. Now you are head of a lynch mob. An angry lynch mob. Once per game, at night, you may direct that mob towards a player, hitting them with 1 kp. The mob will disperse after administering justice, however, so you only have one shot. Your mob will not be refunded for any reason, except if you are role-blocked.
Militant Revolutionary (Veteran)
Outfitted with a cuirass which you liberated from a despicable monarchist guard, after he met justice at the hands of a dozen revolutionaries, you now lead the local people's militia. Your mob...er peoples task force, will scare away the first kp aimed at you during the game. Of course after that they'll all be terrified and go home, so it will only stop the first kp aimed at you. You will be notified if the protection force is ever scared away. Being roleblocked suppresses this ability.
Constitutional Enforcer (Jailkeeper)
You used to be a simple shop keeper, but now your shop has been made into the local prison, and you have the full authority of the Constitution to make use of it as you see fit. Every night you may imprison a suspect and keep them from performing any actions, as well as stopping the first kp aimed at them that night. Hopefully they won't amend this bit for a while, so you can keep imprisoning people. Your targets will know they were roleblocked, but neither of you will be notified of a successful save. Factional KP cannot be roleblocked. You may not target yourself
Additional Rules: Royal Blood - anyone can have the misfortune of being the bastard child of nobility, abandoned and tossed aside like a broken toy, you probably wouldn't even know. Of course anyone investigating your lineage will conclude you are a Monarchist. (Basically a miller mechanic, that applies regardless of role)
Monarchist Forces
Monarchist Forces (Mafia) Wincondition - The Monarchists win when they outnumber the Revolutionaries, or nothing can stop that from happening.
Monarchist Powers -All Monarchists may communicate with each other and choose who to kill every night. They also communally have one kp. They also have the Delay power communally. That is, any night, they may choose to withhold their kill, and instead have 2 kp the following night. For example, they may choose to not kill anyone night 1, and instead have two kp night 2, they must inform the host if they choose to use this power, and it cannot be used consecutively (e.g if you use it night 1, you may not use it night 2). All mafia players may vote normally.
Disguised Royal (Mafia Goon)
Part of the network of royals that managed to get out and remain in hiding, you have come out as a member of this "people's committee" where you hold a minor position. You and your team must coordinate to bring down these fools and their "revolution" before they damn the city and the whole country. The only way to do this is to wipe out the whole committee. Get at it.
Monarchist Thug (Mafia Roleblocker)
You and your family have been retainers of the monarchy for ages, and this new upheaval hasn't changed anything. Now you have joined up with the remianing monarchists to try to restore the balance. You aren't a pansy like the other monarchists though, you are willing to get your hands dirty and rough up some of these "revolutionaries". In addition to the regular Monarchist Powers you may intimidate someone at night, roleblocking them and keeping them from performing any actions. Your target will be notified that he was roleblocked.
Departmental Investigator (Mafia Rolecop)
You *were* an undercover investigator, looking into the whispers of "revolution" that were echoing in these slums. Now that things have gone sour you've joined up with other members with similar ideals and are trying to restore the status quo. Because you are a sleuth, you have the power to investigate a player each night and find out their role, in addition to the normal monarchist powers. Use this ability and stomp out these upstarts.
Devoted Clergy (Mafia Framer)
A priest of the church, you were forced to abandon your habit and cross when these hooligans burnt down your church and declared war on the Vatican itself. They'll learn to regret that. You can use your connections as well as your incredible writing skills to forge people's genealogical trees.In addition to your normal powers, every night you may frame a player each night, reversing what anyone investigating would discover. You may not target yourself.
Unhinged Noble (Mafia Godfather/Strongarm)
You're among the richest of the nobles in the country, and these men have decided to kill your family, you'll get revenge at any cost. You've infiltrated the committee and used your net of contacts to cover for yourself, and you brought a gun. Your contacts will cover for you as long as you keep from firing that gun. Besides possessing the normal Monarchist powers, your paperwork and contacts are all in order, making the Committee Head think you are Not a Monarchist. During any night in the game, you may choose to carry out the mafia kill yourself with you gun, in which case your contacts will no longer cover for you, (causing you to return Monarchist to the psychologist for the rest of the game, including that night). If you use the gun that kp counts as two for the purpose of penetrating any protection a player may have.

Read this section
A few GMarshal specific tidbits
1.) Play nice. I expect you all to behave like Gentlemen (or Ladies, as the case may be). I will not hesitate to modkill or outright ban you for excessive behavior, this includes abusive language and personal attacks. I don't mind you saying "fuck" every once in a while, I don't want to see "FUCKING DIPISHIT, FUCK MAFIA FUCKING SPAM FUCK FUCK FUCK DICKNIPPLES". I'm tired of that kind of shit. Standard tl behavior rules. No personal attacks. The occasional "you idiot T.T" or such post (especially if warranted) is ok, no more than that though.
2.) Don't spam. This isn't IRC, try to consolidate your posts, its horrible when pages 20-80 are all one line posts between two players yelling at each other
3.) Activity. Yes, the guideline is one post per cycle and a vote, but I'll be disappoined if that is the most you do. I do keep track of activity levels, so if you are really inactive I'll make sure you don't get invited to any of my future invitationals, or get preference in signups. Too inactive and I might blacklist you altogether.
4.) Memes and Gifs. Zero tolerance pretty much, as in elsewhere on tl, I will not allow them. Pictures that are not memes are generally ok. No memes (u mad?) or stupid gifs or meme based image macros. Its stupid and belongs on 4chan.
5.) Every single role has custom fluff, it is perfectly ok to claim this fluff, but beware, the mafia has received safe claims , and a total of three additional safe claims for other roles of their choice. All they have to do is PM me their selections. Mafia team, try asking me with lots of time, rather than when the town wants you to claim within 3 minutes or be lynched, as I'm not always on, and writing role fluff takes me a little while.
6.) You may claim your role in full if you so desire, with all the attached fluff, and there will be no consequences, you do not have to paraphrase it. You may not include the time when you received it however.
7.) Have fun. This is a game, the point is to enjoy yourself, so by all means, roleplay to your hearts content, lynch mafia, kill townies, chat, enjoy yourselves there is no point in stressing out over a game.
