Yeah, maybe we could make games here with a reward in the end. So we play a game of mafia, and the winning faction gets rewarded. We can be sponsored and sell ads and stuff to get the reward.
Then we can go multi-national and put ads and stuff on international TV and stuff, and get more traffic here with people all over the world playing to win, like PokerStars.net and those online gambling sites, but with mafia. Those competitive games can have an entrance fee as well. We can make it so that players alive at the end of the game gain more money, or that players lynched get less money even if their faction win, etc. However, in that case then perhaps actual mafia players would choose to join this site, create an account or smurf, and then win all the money and take it. Maybe real mafia families take representatives of them, and let them join a game. Then those players work together so some of them win (they can be in opposite alignments in the actual game), which makes them, in total, have a net gain in sums of money, and then they'd leave, taking away our money. For instance the mafia members that are scum, would never shoot or try to lynch the mafia members that are town, so they gain more money by being alive longer.
In that case, in each mafia game, everybody would need to try and find the real mafia members infiltrated inside the game to lynch or kill them as soon as possible so they don't gain more money, while they need to find the in-game mafia so town wins.
So we could play mafia games inside mafia games!
Wouldn't that be fun?

That sounds like something that we're going to see in Inception Mafia.

What if we do the above and real mafia play Inception Mafia?
A mafia game inside a mafia game inside a mafia game? 3 levels of mafia? Is that even possible!!!!!???
....
We need to go deeper

I think the real question is, can you extract the mafia from the mafia game? O.O
|
Of course, you have to set a 2ndary lynch for the mafia in the mafia game. Each cycle people vote for the people they think are mafia in the mafia game to eject from the game (and ban them), while each day cycle works like always.
|
Ok, then in that case. The normal lynch lets you move people up or down 1 layer. But the secondary lynch is the way you said.
|
But what happens when you shoot someone in the face and it turns out they were town
|
Well, if they were town but mafia then everything's alright and you 2nd lynched a mafia townie, but if they are not mafia then it sucks because you 2nd lynched a non mafia townie that's not mafia, so he'd probably go to jail.
Yeah or something like that
|
Then you take out your little spinning top and watch it spin forever
|
Like, even if you hit a level 2 townie, he could be a level 1 scum so it would be alright. But maybe you can kill him in the 2nd level, he'd flip town, but you wouldn't know what he's in the 1st level so then he starts playing the 2ndary game where he uses his 1st identity to play.
The longer someone plays in the 2ndary game (the other 2ndary one), then the longer he doesn't have to play in the 1st game, and the longer he doesn't play in the 1st game the more chances of winning the 1st game he has. However if he dies in the 2nd game but his faction wins in the 2nd game, he might have more chances of winning the 1st game either, so he could sacrifice himself in the 2nd level to have more chances to win in the 1st level.
Everybody knows their 1st and 2nd identities in the 2nd game, so that game would have strategies not only for the 2nd game but also for the 1st game, and maybe by doing things in the 2nd game you can create things in the 1st game (like if you hit a blue as scum in the 2nd game, you gain a RBer ability in the 1st game).
So like, each player gets a "super" role, which contains: -Role for the 1st game (what flips when he dies in the 1st game) -Role for the 2nd game (what flips when he dies in the 2nd game) -Things that relate both of them and they don't know.
So, for instance, you'd have:
1st game Mafia Roleblocker -You can prevent someone from performing a night action once per night 2nd game Vigilante -You can shoot someone at night once in the game
Synergy: -If you successfully shoot a scum in the 2nd game, you can RB 2 people each night in the 1st game -If you vote for a lynched scum 2 times in the game, you become bulletproof for 1 night in the 1st game (you can choose when) -If you get lynched on the 2nd game, then you'll become a Jailer instead of RBer in the 2nd game (you protect those you RB) -If you successfully shoot the SK, then you can get a 1 time DT ability to use in the 2nd game, to check the 1st identity of someone playing -If town wins the 2nd game, then you become unlynchable for 1 day of your choice in the 1st game
So in the 2nd game you could play like usual, but you can make strategies to play in the 1st game as well. Like for instance, that Vig above maybe would want to shoot the SK (even if the SK was bulletproof), since he could know the 1st identity of someone, or something.
Wow I'm pumped someone make this game.
|
Actually, maybe the 1st game starts as soon as the 2nd one ends, but everybody gets their reward/handicap depending on the result of the 1st game (it should be a considerable reward/handicap).
I don't know if scumbuddies in the 1st level should know each other in the 2nd level though...that would leave to weird stuff if they are from different alignments in the 2nd game.

Choose the next game iGrok hosts Pt. 2
I guess I can't stay angry at you guys. I like mafia too much.
I realized that in my poll before, you guys were just going off the name and not the mechanics. So I've decided to post some information that would be public anyways for various setups I've written, and see what you think! I cut out some of the less popular ideas from the poll and added a couple new ones. After reading, please vote on which is your favorite.
Power Word Mafia 15 Players, 5 factions of 3 players each
Power Word Mafia is something I've thought about for a while, but has been difficult to write up (more so than the other, more technically complicated ones, in fact). The premise is that its a 15 player game with 5 3-player factions. Rather than giving every player an ability or every faction an ability, I did both, and gave each faction 8 possible combination abilities made by the choices of each player.
Each faction is a sect of monks, masoned with each other. Each monk begins the game knowing two Power Words. At night, each monk chooses one Power Word from the words he knows, and collectively the monks choose a target. The combined words' abilities are used on the target.
You can learn new words by Lynching a player. Two players learn the lynchee's words: the monk who hammers the lynchee, and the second highest vote-reciever.
If you know 8 or more words, you may choose 1/4 (rounded down) of all the words you know to speak each night. If a monk in your sect is killed in any way, you learn all of his words.
You may also use any word that you wish, so long as you know the descriptor as well. Attempting to use a word with the wrong descriptor will result in none of your words affecting the ability.
There are offensive, defensive, information, and utility words. Some examples (Names have been changed) Offensive: Klav (Death) - Kills the target Vule (Revenge) - If the target is lynched, he will kill his hammerer.
Defensive: Boke (Heal) - Prevents the target from dying Mirg (Mirror) - Reflects all abilities back
Information: Alwr (Friends) - Returns the number of Monks alive in the target's sect Oyll (Randomize) - randomizes all information received by the target
Utility: Arket (Copy) - You receive a copy of all information returned to the target Tuk (Announce) - This ability's results are announced in the daypost
Overall I think Power Word Mafia would be really cool. 5 faction setups are always weird, and it might go a bit long because there is no night kill (other than a killing word), but it should be fun!
Samurai Champloo Mafia 19 Players, 2 factions, minor wincondition variants.
I absolutely love Samurai Champloo. And someone gave me the idea to do a reverse mafia game, where a small group of masons fights a large disorganized scum team, and together they just work so well. So here's the mechanics in the game:
3 Town Masons must defeat the vast number of Scummy adversaries, as they journey to find the Townie Sunflower Samurai.
Special Lynch Mechanic: Combat Power
- All players start with between 1 and 10 combat power. Combat Power cannot decrease below 1 or increase above 10 unless otherwise specified.
- Voting is the issuing of a challenge by typing “##Challenge NAME” in the Challenge Thread.
- You may Support a player by typing “##Support NAME” in the challenge thread.
- Once you have Supported a player, you may not remove your support.
- Supporting a Player removes your vote if you have voted for a player.
- At the end of the day, the Challenge Target is the player with the most people voting for him.
- All Challengers combat power is combined, and the Target’s and his most powerful supporter’s combat power is combined.
- If the Challengers combined combat power is greater than the Targets combined combat power, the target is lynched.
- If the Target’s combined combat power is equal to or greater than the voters, nothing happens.
- Regardless, the target’s Combat Power decreases by 1 point.
There are 4 townies. 3 of them, Jin, Mugen, and Fuu, are masoned together, while Kasumi Seizo, the Sunflower Samurai is not masoned with them. This is just like having a self-aware traitor in regular scum games. A couple roles have "Minor Win Conditions" attached. These are ways to receive a "Minor Victory" either if you complete some personal objective but your faction loses, or if you fail a personal objective and your faction wins. Victory>Minor Victory>Draw>Minor Loss>Loss.
This game is going to be violent. Many players have killing abilities, multiple of which are daykill-post-in-thread types, but almost all come with conditions for their use. Here is an example stripped of flavor and with numbers changed:
Once per game, you may attack another player by typing “##Kill NAME” in the thread. If your Combat Power is greater, they will die. If your Combat Power is equal, your Combat Power is decreased by 2, and their Combat Power is decreased by 3. If your Combat Power is lesser, you will die, and their combat power is decreased by 3.
I'll definitely be hosting this game at some point, just have to decide if its the NEXT game I host.
Dragon Ball Z Mafia 25 Players, 2 main factions with some individual wincons, 3rd parties
DBZ Mafia will be a very time-based mafia, requiring a lot of activity. The joke was that your powerlevel should be whatever your post count is. Expect lots of spam, ridiculous numbers, and very few people having the faintest idea whats going on. This game will be just below an Insane Mafia game for complexity.
Oh, and did I mention that killing the other team is optional?
Special Mechanics:
- Items
- Any and all items may be given freely to any other player. Items are collected by killer on death and are given to the lowest power level voting player on lynch
- Dragon Balls
- There are 7 Dragon Balls in the game. Whichever side collects all 7 Dragon Balls wins.
- Possessing Dragon Balls gives you a power boost of ((n!/n)+n)*100, where n is the number of Dragon Balls you have.
- 200/300/500/1000/2900/12600/72700
- Scouters
- Scouters allow you to discover a player’s power level. If their power level is over 9000, the scouter will break.
- Saiyan Armor
- Lynching you requires double the normal Power Level. Can only save you once.
- Dragon Radar
- Allows you to investigate a player to see if they have a Dragon Ball
- Z-Sword
- The Z-Sword can only be used when your Power Level is 10000 or higher. The Z-Sword gives you a flat power level increase of 2500, and allows you to block an incoming attack.
- Sensu Bean
- A Sensu Bean will completely restore a player to life and full power.
- The Full Moon
- There is a full moon on even-numbered nights.
- Forms
- If your character can change forms, you must spend at least one hour in a form before changing to a new form.
- Some forms may have other requirements.
- Power Level Lynch
- Whoever is voted for by the highest Power Level is lynched.
- When you vote for someone, you power up your Power Level by 250 for every hour you stay voting for the same person.
- Characters each have unique power level cap
- Your Power Level remains whatever it was at dusk until dawn.
Example Powers:
Ascended Saiyan Boost of #### Power #### times per game, while you are already Super Saiyan, you may choose to power up by ###/hour instead of ###/hour
Destructo Disk Once per game at night you may use Destructo Disk. This ability destroys the enemy, killing them regardless of power level or defensive abilities. This ability can be dodged.
Kamehameha You convert your Power Level into the most powerful attack. Activated by typing the following with at least a 5 minute delay between ##KAAAAAAAAA ##MEEEEEEEE ##HAAAAAAAAA ##MEEEEEEEE ##HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your opponent loses Power Level equal to your own. If they drop below 1 Power Level, they die.
Remember that there are various enemies who also know abilities such as Kamehameha, Special Beam Cannon, or Destructo Disk!
Once again, I have a small mason group fighting disorganized scum. This game has more Minor and alternative winconditions than Samurai Champloo. As you can see, what hour you vote for a player or use an ability can matter. For this reason, I will let you queue up abilities and votes with me if you have to be away from the thread, and I'll announce them for you with a timestamp of when they should happen. This game will be the most crazy and probably least balanced, so you should only join it for fun!
Sleeper Cell 3 15-20 players, 2 factions, Sleeper Cell 1 Mechanics
I'm bringing back Sleeper Cell, the one with the cell leader mechanic. Once again, there'll be a hidden twist. I don't think I really need to say more than that about this game. It'll be awesome.
So, read through and let me know what setup you'd like to play next! Ideally I'd host all of them, but doing them all at once might prove challenging :D

I'm not sure I really understand Power Word Mafia. If the sects are masoned together, I don't really understand how the game works? Cause then it just seems to me like sects will form alliances and the game would turn out kind of strange.
The other games all look really awesome though. If I had to pick one, Samurai Champloo Mafia.
|
@igrok, does that mean the dune game is ruled out for now? HiroPro's recent antics with house chezinu makes me want to see a game with houses.
Power Word sounds a bit like that anyway, just with different flavor. And I think it would be awesome to play in. Will their be PMs besides the inner mason ones?
Also it sounds like you can use a word even if you haven't "learned" it, is that so you can use your teammates powers? If there are other PMs I guess you could share a word with a team you are collaborating with.
