LBJ and KD...we could see a great friendly rivalry or whatever develop between them, though it may not last that long because LBJ will be on the cusp of being considered old in a few years.

So many dunks in the olympics though :D LBJ and KD...we could see a great friendly rivalry or whatever develop between them, though it may not last that long because LBJ will be on the cusp of being considered old in a few years. lebron is 27, he has plenty of time left to be the best player in the world. I don't want to see the US shooting 3's unless its KD or Love. Thats about it. the line is in a few feet, so its more of a mid-range shot in fiba. all those players can shoot a three at a high percentage, except chandler or davis. they are not running many extravagant plays, because they don't need to. they have coach k and high basketball i.q. if it comes to a fourth quarter within 10 points. anyways, drive and kick is pretty standard in the nba, and I didnt really see any settling for threes, only taking them at opportune times. not taking threes allows the opposing defense to not guard the three, they specifically got guards with great or average mid range shots for this reason.

I guess my counter-argument would be that they were absolutely unable to stop US penetration and finishing around the rim, so why even bother shooting the three? I agree with your viewpoint about drive and kick if the rim-finishing goes away but I was speaking more to the point of "if they can't stop it, why do anything else?" but I'm onboard with what you're saying.

It takes a lot more effort to actually put your head down and go for the rim. It looks so easy on TV but if you try playing full court 5 on 5 against the zone defense that most European teams use, and you want to drive to the rim every time, your legs and body pay the price. On a related note, Carmelo plays so much better in the Olympic setting than in the NBA. It might be because he has a solid PG helping him out, but the guy was ruthlessly efficient against tunisia.
