Well they can't hold qualifiers so might as well just try to get what will bring the most viewers. I am sure they would prefer to make a real tournament rather than what they have been doing but they can't. They also have to invite teams and they have to accept weeks in advance though. A lot can change in a few weeks as well. Honestly week 3/4 tsm looked decent and most assumed they would improve but they haven't at all.

There's no real reason we can't have LCS teams having 1/2 days a week where they can play online qualifiers for stuff.

Yea I don't see how it's worse than current stuff anyway. We may even see teams experimenting more in them, maybe getting subs some experience in the roster etc. Realistically I don't see Riot ever allowing it or any 3rd party stuff to be really good. Idk why I mentioned it :<

But my point is, would playing at IEM would worth the effort? Playing through a qualifier then playing in the LCS? In soccer, you get qualified the likes of Champions League or Europe League based on your performance in your own region. And yes, it happened many times, that a team which got into one of these leagues sold most of its star players, so they sucked big time when the time came to actually play in the competition. Point is, assuming time constraints are real and a pain in the ass, it is near impossible to work out a system which guarantees you that we will see quality games at IEM.

Riot would and should never do that. LCS is a story, and it would be extremely lackluster that while the point of LCS is to see which teams qualify to the playoffs, then just randomly have a big play-off in the middle of the split. Bad idea.
