Am I the only one who gets legitimately annoyed by these 'little things' that Riot does, like enforcing a 3 letter tag on fucking everything? Last week Sbenu were still able to carry the tag 'SBENU + playername', now they had to change it to SSB. If we assume that most people will look at the players during the game, I could imagine this being an issue for sponsors. The ingame tag 'Jin Air' was forced to change into 'JAG', 'NaJin' into 'NJE', 'Samsung' into 'SSG' etc.
Isn't it much more valuable for a sponsor to have your full company name on every player during the game, instead of just at the top (if you're lucky) or at international Riot events not even that? SKT and KT are the lucky ones here, as their company names fit the Riot fetish of having 2-3 letter tags for everything and anything. I wouldn't be surprised if for their next match IM will have had to change their tag to LZ.

Just... why?

Probably a limitation of # of characters able in names. So 3 letters keep it short enough to first most names in.

Not a big deal, imo.

I still hate nunu+lucian, but I guess it's okay since Faker is playing Ez.

Man watching Faker play Ez, just imagine how fucking good SKT would be if they could have 2 fakers, one in mid, and one in botlane.

Two days ago they were still called 'SBENU + name' and before Riot changed Champions into LCK, everyone was using their normal company tag for 2+ years, without problems.
