Without Xmithie to faciliate his super-yolo midgame play, he's been pretty sub-par now.

Trundle super annoying, but if you manage to get to 6 without too many problems, double-tap -> Q+auto on his ass still harasses him hard without letting him abuse you with long trades. I don't know if BotRK would do better, but I always go triforce->tank on Jax nowadays.
You can hit 6 first and throw him out with an all-in, but it's not necessarily easy to outpush him and time it right, while having the HP/mana though.

I'd go BotRK over TF so he can sustain with Trundle in lane.

It was looking strong for awhile too, but I would say Blizzard is most at fault. They didn't show nearly as good of support as Riot did when it came to promoting events or even for their own hosted events. On top of that they let the meta get very stale in my opinion. Maps all had to be structured a certain way. Things like broodlord/infestor wasn't changed for a long time even when Blizzard acknowledged it as a problem. It was predictable though. I was very into SC2 around release but became disillusioned pretty quick at the end of 2010. It was very apparent that SC2 had failed in Korea, LoL was already getting huge numbers in early 2011 (I remember 100k+ for a CLG vs. TSM scrim, there wasn't a lot of stuff going on back then though) and honestly Blizzard's behaviour is and was just predictable from how they treated their other games like WC3 and WoW Arena. Riot and LoL owes a lot to Regi and Hotshot. Those two were pioneers.

Man, the announcers are kinda shitting on Mancloud.

I've never heard anyone claim he is a world class mid player but he wasn't nearly this bad. I mean even the koreans were impressed by him at worlds.

I think the community would have found others, but Regi and Hotshot do deserve props yes. Same goes for all the other guys and all the fans who have been there ever since before S1.

Maps all had to be structured a certain way. Things like broodlord/infestor wasn't changed for a long time even when Blizzard acknowledged it as a problem. Meh... I think the big thing is that Blizzard's main source of income wasn't SC2, whilst for Riot LoL was everything. Blizz likes milking out WoW/D3 more, and with Hearthstone they will probably have a better profiting game than SC2 is.
To an extent I agree. Perhaps Blizzard could have made more money by doing a better job of investing into it as an esport, or maybe even changed their game in order to make more money from it without hurting the experience.. but even ignoring that they didn't do some very simple things like bring attention to tournaments by advertising it to players. Why did it take them such an incredibly long time just to get to the point where they would post it on the first screen after you log in? (which people don't really notice as it was in the corner)
On top of that they really messed up with Bnet 2.0 with chat rooms and custom games which definitely hurt the casual experience, losing them many more players in that regard. I know that was the case for my friends and eventually me. I played WC3 for years mostly because of the custom games, and I know I'm not alone on that.
Perhaps I shouldn't be going on about this in this thread though.. I'm not sure if people care or not.

I feel for mancloud. :< Such a poor split for him.

Godwater carrying XDG there.
Oh god the Grackis. I kinda miss him, in a weird way.
Those were the days, when LoL GD was less of a cesspool and cool people even posted in it.

Yeah, my reasoning is that triforce is more damage in most cases, way more burst to abuse the usual R passive (I also max Q to burst harder, and make it easier to harass everytime it's up and zone the opponent if he's behind), and stronger in teamfights, so if I can make it work with my playstyle (eg. harass Trundle relentlessly but don't let him leverage his Q and W who make his dps strong) I avoid building it. If you don't get ahead early you'll need BotRK to 1v1 him.
