If you pick Hermes, you're taking the safe, boring route. He probably won't be the cause of Blaze losing, but he will almost assuredly not be the one for the cause of them winning. After seeing him on Frost and now Blaze, he's the perfect plug-in ADC, someone good enough to not rock the boat of a good team, but not special or strong enough to take a team to the next level.
If you pick CptJack, you're basically crossing your fingers and hoping he plays like he did last season against Frost or the season before, again against Frost, where he went god mode on Caitlyn and helped Blaze have the biggest comeback in Champions history. He's better at farming than Hermes, and he has a higher ceiling than Hermes when it comes to making plays and changing the course of a match, but he also has the ability to completely derail Blaze with a few mistakes in the early game.
Do you go with the boring, safe ADC or the wild card ADC?
Definitely a double edged sword right there. Especially considering Blaze's record against KT Bullets in the playoffs is pretty terrible. I feel like Hermes is the better option. Play safe and hope Shy or Ganked by Mom can carry. If CaptJack gave KT Bullets even the slightest advantage Blaze would be in trouble. Although I've never been a betting man so I usually favor the more conservative strategies.
Wrong team. I don't think Blaze can afford conservative any more, Blaze has to win pick/ban phase.
Smeb and MidKing have been sent to the bench. Paragon has moved to the Top Lane. Reign Over survives as Jungler. Elinke is the new Mid, Violet AD is their new ADC, and some new guy in Korean is their new Support.
For LG-IM #2, PLL stays as Top Lane, Lilac stays as Jungler (but changed his name Lil4c), Kuro stays as Mid, and they replaced Scarlet with a new guy called NeverDie BetKyo and Lasha has returned as their main Support player. LG-IM #2 might be really good next season if this Kyo guy is any good.
No surprise with LG-IM #1. Smeb and MidKing were both struggling heavily. Seems like every team is going to have a seven man roster by next season.

Depends how Blaze assess the threat of KTB. If they see themselves as equal to KTB in terms of form, tactics/strategy and on-paper strength, I think they go with Hermes. If they feel that they need to gamble a little to match KTB, then Captain Jack.
The thing is, Captain Jack was so bad in the games against Sword that it must be hard to make the decision to throw him into such a difficult quarter-final match-up. On the other hand, I don't think it really matters. The main thing is, Blaze will need to reinvent themselves a bit after their devastating defeat in last season's final. KTB are cocky but they aren't stupid; if Blaze tries their usual split-pushing shenanigans, KTB will just replicate Ozone's counter-strategy to crush them.
Well, that will certainly be an extremely interesting set. I really wonder if Blaze can even break their 0-7 record against KT B... they seem to be the phalanx to their one trick warhorse.
This is one reason I really enjoy the shifting of the meta in League with each team now getting seven players and interchanging. The choice between Hermes and CptJack is not only a huge decision for the season, but potentially the future for Blaze as well.
I'm expecting a 3-2, with Bullets winning first, then winning their last 2.
If the Bullets win the first 2 games though, calling it 3-2 for Blaze. In a similar fashion to how CLG EU lost to Frost in the Summer Finals last year.
Can't have a semis/finals without Blaze there. 3-1 Blaze. Something like 2-0 start, KT B winning 1, then Blaze finishing it off. I feel Blaze will be a lot more prepared and ready for these games.
It's also pretty odd how they are the underdogs going in, because with any other team it would be a lot more one sided for Blaze
