Keep the rage to a minimum. This includes wait times between games, music, and balance.
Fair warning to all. |

Im 100% sure that those earmuffs are blocking out all potential sound from outside.
The microphones they are using however, seem to be quite the opposite of soundproof. Herp derp.
You can hear it when they did those replay things of player reactions during fights etc, the static in the crowd cheers is just them being heard through the microphones.
Its fucking hillarious how riot thought - soundproof headphones will stop the noise! now give them microphones 5 metres from screaming nerds, they wont hear em!
Also, why has nobody realised this? your all assuming the headphones just dont work.
BTW, in that video above, the moment the DC happens some korean player jumps up and blatantly stares at the screen, wonder what gave him the idea to do that so quickly...owait, he'd been doing it all game herp derp.
audience audio seems to be a separate stream that is fed into replays and listen ins. You can clearly hear the difference in audience volume when the camera is focused on the casters to the audience volume during replays.

It's not like League of Legends is going to stop making them money because of this. Hopefully it will be enough of a wake up call to make some changes though. Just use soundproof booths and implement a LAN feature and everyone will be happy. Soundproof booths is no big deal, but implementing LAN into LoL is probably not an easy task. The code base isn't the greatest. Setting up a local "internet" should be doable though, I guess, and just as stable as LAN...

It's not gonna go under, but it's reputation and profesionalism have been extremely damaged. I'm sad as LoL player that the company behind the game is so incredibly incompetent. No more than many other companies. Sadly competence at the right positions is pretty damn rare in this world.

Ofcourse Riot won't go under for this lol, suggesting so is ridiculous however a tournament this ambitious ran by a company as large as Riot needs to run well or it undermines all the hard work done by companies like Valve or Blizzard with the Dota Invitational or WCS.
Everything about this tournament was a disaster, and that's bad news for everyone.

If Riot is not dumb and pulls its shit together for S3, nobody is gonna care in a year. I mean nobody really cares about MLG dallas anymore right? Call it growing pains for Riot.

I still think that MLG Dallas 2011 for SC2 was a bigger failure, but due to the sheer size of this event the importance to succeed is significantly higher.

The one thing about dallas was the fact that a truck literally crashed into a major internet junction and fucked up a portion of the city. This time, the internet just kind of , well, failed.

Yeah, in both cases the internet failure was not on the part of the organization holding the tournament. The major difference is since MLG didn't make SC2, it wasn't their fault LAN wasn't a feature. What I'm seeing now, is since Riot put on the tournament, they can be blamed for the game not having LAN.
Clarification Edit: Not that I agree with this sentiment, just that I'm seeing it a lot.

The thing is Dallas was at the start of a large spike in esports popularity, since then Dreamhack, MLG, Valve and Blizzard together have pushed forward production and event quality. Each company bouncing off each other trying to best each other, true innovation in esports presentation.
This is why this Riot tournament was such a distaster, it undermines all the hard work put into esports presentation since Dallas.

So is there gonna be game today? Its almost 2AM for me and I want to sleep T_T

So you are actually going to say that Blizzard and Valve didn't bounce off Riot and their Season 1 Championships and the Season 2 Circuit?

I honestly don't understand why Riot's so stubborn about no booths, especially when it's been proven time and time again that booths are essentially a necessity for professional gaming.
I love Riot; their game is great, they pay attention to their player base and are a great company in general most of the time. But when it comes to eSports, they are the biggest fucking blockheads ever. Stubborn as shit and refuses to learn from the example of other companies' experience or their past failures. Is Marcou still Riot's head of esports management - cause it sure seems like it...
I don't even blame them for the internet issue or the lack of LAN. I fully appreciate that coding LAN into their game is a herculean task and it's simply not going to happen anytime soon if at all. But seriously? Widespread cheating at the largest LoL tournament (and maybe even esports in general) in history and they can't even prevent simple cheating like ghosting? WTF riot. This stuff seriously makes me really mad and disappointed.

Even if they didn't have booths they had canopies to block sunlight. It would've been so easy to set up the canopies such that they blocked each team's view of the minimap.

Riot needed the booth for sure. They could make rotating stages but no booth?

Obviously when players are focusing on the game with "soundproof headphones" they'll be worrying about interacting with the crowds and will be able to hear them so well. You know, in the middle of team fights they'll pause, get up from playing, sit down with them, and drink a cup of coffee, discussing politics and making philosophical debate with one another. Right, Riot.

i thought they had a lan client at on of the dreamhacks previously? but i seem to recall it was more buggy than the actual servers themselves
