Instead of ads they could at least have the commentators commentating a fps view of the game.. say one star player, or tab through the different players screens... This is what they do for Halo, sure we won't see everything, but at least it's better than nothing. Someone should tweet Sundance to do this. If we get too many game skips, I'm gonna wander off until finals I'm sure.
Really not happy with the lol production, Casters are not fun in the slightest to listen too and are just generally boring, Dreamhack casters we're worlds ahead and it just strikes me as half arsed compared to sc2. Stream is dissapointing as always for mlg even on ultra but it's not like i expected anything more.
A Note about SpecMode: Spectator Mode does have some issues. The way it works is that there is a 'master server' that handles the entire game and controls all game data. There then needs to be a sub-server that then processes the information, delays it, then passes it onto the Obs. As you can imagine, it gets pretty messy. If there's any mis-synch with the two we get a problem. While it's possible to make the server system more robust to deal with any problems, it's also means you place more demand on the servers and need more back-end systems.
Think of it like Series and Parallel wires for a lightbulb. (Remember them from highschool?) Series is simple and works, but if anything goes wrong all your lights fail. Parallel is more robust, but is much harder to set up.
It gets even messier when you factor in replays. But that's another story.
After all the issues udinr the IEM finals and now already in the first rounds of MLG I just keep getting more and more dissapointed in riots pathetic attempt at making LoL an esports.
Problems like this really shouldnt be happening when your promoting yourself so hard.

It's MLG's stream, not Riot.
I'd just be happy there is a LoL tournament stream to watch (not casted by Grackis).
umm. you do understand that its not being streamed because riot's spectator mode is crashing?
Would you prefer there to not be tournaments? The point is to be thankful of what you get for free and not bitch about things going wrong.
MLG is trying to turn competitive gaming profitable. Part of that is enticing people to buy stream viewership, etc.
This is not a good impression. (As a funny note, did you know that MLG has yet to turn a profit in a single year of its running? The only way it's staying afloat is venture capital. Maybe SC2 and LoL will change that...but not like it is now.)

Very interesting, I didn't know that. Source? I would think that with the sponsors they're getting, they'd be at least making some dough, considering they have a lot of big names like Monster, Intel, etc etc...
Look at this from MLGs perspective aswell. If you cant show half the games being played cause of crashes do you really want to let them come back next event? At this rate Dota2 is going to get a free ride to mlg even with all the lag problems they had at IEM cause there was atleast a stream.

The sponsors support the tournaments and the company with millions. But that is not stuff going into MLG's pockets, it's being used to run the tournaments and keep the company alive. Each event is super super expensive.

After the troubles they've had at Dallas, I don't think MLG will want to take a big chance on more technical difficulties.
I agree. As much as I would like to see more LoL tournaments, it would be much better for them to get the spectator mode stable first before going all out on things like MLG.
