You guys didn't try out lux support/carry? That seems like a good test subject for a duo lane either way. I would nominate jarvan jungle and as a 1v2er.

Lux support really isnt worth trying, its been done a ton and its just basically a crappy version of Zyra.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

We discussed Lux support as a viable alternative if Zyra was taken/banned, but decided that Zyra is just straight up better. Zyra's kit is fairly similar, but what sets her apart is she can do damage without building AP. Lux can't.

I wonder if, for the Ryze build in this comp, it would be a good idea to rush the Manamune, to give him the AD to allow him to push down the tower in the 2v1.

Thresh could also grab an early longsword for some bully potential, and late game turn it into a Zekes Herald. If we're running something like Thresh + Nautilus + Cho'gath, we can really split the support itemization up and allow Thresh to build a little bit of damage.

The issue I see with straight rushing Manamune is that there were multiple times where the extra health from catalyst saved my ass, allowing me to grab the double kill on their solo and jungle ganking. I could see it being done if their jungler is Udyr or something so I don't have to worry about the gank as much.

As long as Thresh's Q passive stays as is, I think a little damage could be useful if it can be afforded in the build.

I dunno, I like playing lux support. Her q is a whole lot harder to hit than zyra's e but it practically guarantees a kill during laning if your adc is well positioned. Also, I feel her burst is slightly better and her shield is very strong in the mid and late game (if you max it second).

Her ult has nothing on zyra's, though.

Manamune itself does not really give you much that a tear does not give you alone, it only becomes really good when it transforms, so i don't see rushing it as a particularly good idea.

The problem that I see is just that the 2v1 Ryze Thresh lane say, cannot take down towers, while a Korean style 2v1 lane tries to have the tower down by 5 mins.

Lets say both Ryze and Thresh grabbed an early longsword (they know they'll be building them into things) and both took the 5% tower damage mastery, that would mitigate a lot of this inability to damage towers.

Do we want to do the ranked games on a different day?

We could have Friday for goofing off in an in-house setting, having fun, testing rando stuff, and then on Saturdays or some other day pick something we've tested that actually seems legit and test it in the ranked 5s with stream and etc for an hour or two.

We did the ranked on Friday because we magically had exactly 5 people. I had a lot of fun with the ranked game and would like to do more, but if we have 10 people for goofing off we shouldn't be like "Screw you guys, we're gonna do ranked games."

I think Lux has her niche, but it would be fair to say that she's only on-par or better than Zyra in a very limited set of circumstances. She rides a much finer line than Zyra in terms of effectiveness, if you fall behind or get crushed on Lux that's fairly fatal to your later game utility (the same is not true of Zyra).

Testing is never ruled out during the week. However, I already have a lot of obligations with specific, immutable time requirements (e.g. MwM and other things), so I'm not really keen to add another inflexible commitment. If players are around for TL RnD during the week we can certainly try and play some.

I feel like Lux is better than zyra for quick-trades against other harassy lane combos, because of her shield and E+auto's relative reliability compared to "I hope I hit this snare" which zyra does. However, the threat of Zyra's crushing CC and power when she lands her shit, especially post-6, is so great that she has ridiculous zone potential.

After watching Nyjacky a little bit today, I decided to try out AP Cho Gath in a similar way to AP Teemo: By building his auto attacks. The build in my head contains malady, nashors, deathcap, abyssal scepter, hourglass and ofc zerker's greaves.

I'm so going to test that shit.

Unfortunately cho is melee range so if you build that you are going to blow up instantly.
