I got invited to the beta having played less than 5 games total in HotS (outside of the less than 10 arcade games i played). Oh well I still tried the beta and it's ok.
That minimap makes me feel like i'm back in gold league; 20 lings run into my natural and i have no idea where they came from because you cant see the small units on the minimap. I wonder why this isn't fixed yet players have complained about it since the start of beta, they surely can't think that this is still a good idea.

I think that a simple saturation tweak/recolour on the minimap can make it much more visual without altering detail, solving the issue you ask for.
Before in HotS you could also tweak minimap quality, I remember having played around with that in some advanced tab of the editor.
There have been some reports from individuals who felt they were missed from the Top 20% beta wave that went out last week. After looking into these specific reports, we determined that all accounts were flagged accurately during this wave. To help offer transparency on this topic, we wanted to provide details on the criteria we used. We collected every active account that was originated from EU or NA. Then we pulled out every account that had played their placement matches and had earned a rank in Season 1. Those accounts were then stack ranked by MMR and the top 20% were flagged for beta access. We realize there are still numerous active players who are eager to help us test the beta. We’re still flagging accounts on a weekly basis to support our testing needs. There will be multiple opportunities to find your way into the beta and we hope that this process didn’t cause unnecessary confusion for our playerbase.
Didn't get an invite? Ensure that: 1. You were ranked in 2015 Season 1, meaning part of a league on the snapshot day: the last day before the season roll. If you hit Leave League, well, that was a dumb and bad idea! 2. You were not underperforming in your league. Demotions don't exist anymore, so if you were a Diamond player but playing Golds because your MMR was really in Gold, that's no longer in the top 20%. 3. You were playing in the NA, EU, or SEA regions. KR isn't approved for beta access yet due to Korean rating board delays (like PEGI or ESRB). 4. You did not experience MMR decay by not playing for the last 2-4 weeks of the season.

What do you do in ZvZ? I'm doing 17/17/17 into roach into lurker into get more bases. I'm not sure what to build lategame.
Those are just my thoughts on it, could be completely wrong but here it goes:
Ling/bling openings, because ravagers are crap against it and though burrow move is good it isn't that good to break the meta (I guess?). Especially since with the new timings gasless looks pretty much impossible to pull of, so you need speed and when you go speed I think ling/bling is just way more solid (or rather much less costly) than ling/roach early. From there I'm going mutas, because from mutas you can go right into lurkers and you can skip all the roach and fast upgrade investments. Like 8 lurkers + any form of ling/bling/hydra/muta should deal with anything pretty easily, meanwhile your opponent still has to go spore+infestor+hydra+roach when you open mutalisks and could go mass muta/ling/bling but any ground midgame composition is completely garbage because your lurkers kill 1290741258972189752978 supply of ground units in 2shots. I'm not really sure what to do from there, but if it played out like this I'm usually just ahead and go Broodlords+lurkers with lings and mutas for counter attacks. I guess Vipers could be good too.
The exact opening I'm using is double extractor trick, 16hatch, 15overlord, 15pool, 15gas, 20queen, 22queen, 24overlord (don't build an overlord to extend the 22supply limit, the superfast finishing hatch will do that).
The interesting follow up question is if I'm right with muta openings being best, can you transition into parasitic bombs or do you have to do the degenerate muta wars again.
Do you really think muta openings are neccesary in lotv tho? So far i've been doing hatch -> gas -> pool Get speed with first 100, get bane nest with next 50, add a evo, get +1 melee then add a lair soon after that, and 'rush' towards lurker tech while taking a third, you should be able to hold the third with hydras+queens vs mutas, and then soon after that you got lurkers to defend vs any roach/lingbane pushes, and you can drone up your third pretty safely behind that.
in HOTS you wanted the infestors for the big muta numbers, and they helped vs the roach maxouts after the initial few mutas, but i think vipers deal with them fine now, if you just get a fast hive before they reach critical numbers, and lurkers do great against any roach push if you stay defensive and use upgraded lings+lurkers on top of ramps.
It's a silly approach to use MMR when people complain about MMR Decay and such beforehand. And it's silly to undermine your own league system by using MMR instead of leagues/points.
