I mean I'm not really sure I see the issue, objectives like First Blood and Dragon should give you a lead. I'm not sure teams were ever reliably choked out like this before in a way that they couldn't be choked out currently. The new system is arguably just as punishing depending on which dragons show up, and you also have things like Rift Herald and the changed Baron. Of course they still give you a lead, it's just a question of degree. My guess is that if you compared teams with, say, 0 to 2k gold lead at 10 minutes from Season 3 vs today, the Season 3 team has a much higher win %. Also the warding system back then is what made the snowball so smothering. As much as it was fun to light up an entire jungle with wards, it meant that a) pro-level supports would literally buy nothing other than boots and wards (not even a sightstone), and b) there really was no way back if the other team was competent at warding. I think the game suffers whenever there's a propensity for "infinite wards" - see, e.g., pre-nerf blue ward trinket. S3 was also before they systematically started eliminating individual champions (not just players, but Renekton, etc) ability to take over the early game. Also, its not like the existence of Gold-Giving-Dragon or first blood are inherently not balanced you can reduce the gold gain and exp from each. You can re-balance passive vs. minon gold (they did). I generally agree that the game had to evolve over the time from S2 to today, I just think they made a lot of bizarre choices, particularly with the jungle and jungle camps (and certain champion reworks) that were bad. Things like the ADC item rework, sightstone, and minion gold changes, are as a whole a success, mostly because it almost eliminates Crit RNG lategame (you crit every time!).

I don't think we're being salty, I think we legitimately have a lot of issues with the direction this game has taken. I miss when the game was about getting a gold lead through dragons/buff control and using proper warding/dewarding to take map control and push that into a win. A lot of people feel this way. I'm glad others can enjoy the game as it is though. My issue with Ekko is that his kit just seems like someone thought of all the trendy mechanics a character could have, and putting them into one character. He could be weak and I would still hate him. And c'mon, Malzahar's passive??? Absolutely troll. I was never one to bitch about champ design but this is just ridiculous. I really like dynamic queue. maybe it favours the super tryhards but for people playing with friends you get punished quite hard. Makes playing with friends seamless warding is good, I don't think its fun that you have to spam wards around baron all day to play "properly" supports having to be the bitch role is just unfun gameplay. Cyanide going to base and buying 5 wards was good play but its not fun at all. Elder dragon is second baron, It's because if you can't siege and barons you have nothing to do for 6 minutes and theres too many champs who can turtle really well. It's harder to kill than baron so its not impossible to stop it. Dragons are still in the game, it's just it was incredibly punishing to miss them before which kind of makes for fun teamfights but also makes for situations where you can't gank top lane because dragon is too important. Buff control was never that big a deal, zz, remember CLG eu giving up every blue buff with anivia on their team lol? I was never one to bitch about champ design but this is just ridiculous. i would also add all the comeback mechanic (passive gold, exp etc) and limiting solo carry potential with every new season, now u can literally dc for 20 minutes come back get few random assists and you will be 3 levels behind , some of the reworks are also hilariously bad like kog, morde wtf were they thinking comeback mechanics are good, how many actual comebacks do you see? The game snowballs hard as fuck and it was worse before. Don't see much limiting to solo carry potential. Having champs that destroy early game just make 90% of champs unpickable and it led to the old "pick renekton or irelia top or go home" which is dumb. some of the reworks were bad I agree, but some pretty okay successes. fiora, poppy both kinda cool. I actually really liked old fiora but she had no counterplay, was super binary.

When I look at match histories of players I played with, I usually very rarely find that two players are playing together twice in a row. Hence why it appears that most of them soloques. I don't seperate between ranked/unranked. IIRC, roughly 75-80% of all games played are unranked.

I suddenly understand why I see so many games where it is so hard for one team to close out the game. All the teams that are getting shit on for the first 10 minutes of the game are a lower ranked 5 stack that are just objectively worse at the game, and then since they are a 5-stack they just co-ordinate better and get picked off less, so they are able to come back in the game. I want old soloqueue back. Maybe my chance to win is the same, but the games feel much worse than before. A match where I am 50% likely to win as a soloplayer against a 5 stack means I have a 50% chance to just rofl-stomp over the enemy team, and a 50% chance to just win lane hard and get out-coordinated. Half my games I feel like one team shits all over the other team, and then the other team just plays the map so much better. Honestly, games were so much more enjoyable when you had 3 even lanes, junglers thinking at the same level, and players randomly trying to work together. The matches might be "fair", but I think they are less fun. On June 01 2016 06:58 Fildun wrote: the absolute madmen Show nested quote + On June 01 2016 05:40 iCanada wrote: Is school out already? Just seems more toxic than usual. Don't usually use my mute button this much. Unfortunately my mute button doesn't stop them from making someone else keyboard warrior them.

Position select combined with the smaller player pool at elite MMR is causing long queue times at the highest tiers. We’re going to intentionally make a trade-off here: Scale back on guaranteeing specific roles in order to better ensure high quality matches get made in a reasonable amount of time. Clearly giving players at masters+ roles they don't play is gonna ensure high quality matches. That video seems like something an indie wrestling promotion could make.

lol what? you guys are literally making shit up now the game has never been like that "better jungler wins | report this bot/top/mid" -everyone salty since season 1 i think 5 stacks are extremely rare vs solo q players dynam q tries to match duos vs duos etc the reason games are hard to close out is because bad players don't know how to close out games at all this hasn't changed players when behind are either on tilt and feed and you win easily or they aren't and they sit in base and defend When I tanked my placements super hard one season I remember how shit everyone was at just grouping and finishing the game when you're ahead getting them to group is like a mom getting her kids in the car; you have to call it like 4 times and do other shit too until the conditions are right once you get to diamond 1 everyone groups together without saying anything and pushes towers this is because most of the players there are good at thinking about how to progress in winning the game and have gotten used to other players being somewhat similarly minded when you play with players who rarely go for objectives unless you tell them exactly what to do you're not likely to see how easily you can just push of course there's the converse, players who, when behind, are preachers of the CHURCH OF GROUP Top and bot pushing in? GROUP You are behind and cloud drake is up? GROUP Enemy team all missing? GROUP They are split pushing? GROUP because they notice games where people are grouping because its the right play and doing well by catching people they assume its the solution to every situation

1-2 years ago 4k or more gold lead would mean victory in 90% of games, now it's only 70% or so. Usually people either just get picked off and die in a span of 15 mins, or they manage to stall and there's a big fight we lose which is game with current deathtimers. I agree with Teut that everybody is shit at closing out games, heck, the play I used to make in plat 5 2 years ago was pick mundo, get to level 6, go to mid/bot and start autoing the turret. I won about 80% of games with that. Might also be that because of powercreep (tm) items have become less valuable compared to using your champion well and as such gold leads mean less, if that makes any sense.
