Honestly the 0-30 grind is what's stupid, not runes IMO. runes are absolutely a huge issue for new players anyone who wants to be competitive has to spend hundreds of hours grinding for runes/champs unless they want to use the budget rune pages, where it's just generic per role rather than per matchup. Especially now, since competitive runes are becoming more nuanced. you'll see more than just 9 runes of the same type in each slot for the good players pages in specific matchups. its fine for people who will buy accounts though.

There are more mids and adcs at mid diamond to challenger than other roles, so it takes longer in Queue for doing those. at least in NA.

So now basically everyone I know runs mid in at least one of the two spots even non mid players. shouldn't the system at least prioritize the people that put mid as primary?

Yes, which is why 1-10 there should be no pages, 11-20 no rune pages, and 21-30 should unlock, free, basic rune sets with lvl 30 letting them pick 2-3 quint sets as a reward. Anyone who hasn't started LOL, or just dabbled before, but is pretty into gaming is just like "screw it" now. Because its a huge investment getting to 30, then a second huge investment to be ranked-ready, and for an old game no one wants to make that investment. Its like trying to get players to run T1 content right before a new expansion is going to drop in WOW.

Yea I think this is the case, I just think the fact that a majority of people have mid as secondary increases the chances that you get screwed by the system trying to match duos or trying to match mmr closer or something. I mean it's probably not the main reason, but any time someone who is using it as a secondary to get their primary gets mid, which does happen even if not often, it increases the mid q time even more. or in another sense it makes it harder for the system to fill out a team around you as a mid q, so mid mains are more likely to fill in the unwanted roles at your mmr. mid primary is the best way to get mid, I'm just stating the wait being long/unreliable is exasterbaited by this new trend of mid secondary no matter what.

ex. If your primary role is unavailable and your secondary role is available, do they give you the secondary role right away? Or does it have to pass a certain amount of time that your primary role is unavailable until it gives you your secondary role? Because if it works in a way that it makes you wait more for your primary even if your secondary is available, I wish they could give us the option to either go into queue right away as soon as any of the roles are available or forcefully wait until X minutes for primary to be available and then resort to searching for secondary/primary. People who are willing to wait more for their primary should be allowed to wait and people who may prefer a certain role but would much rather get queued faster as fill or another role should be allowed to choose that as well and speed up the process. edit: also I noticed you can use free champs in ranked. that is weird and idk if its intended. its great for my smurfs though since holy shit all these free champs!

How to be pretentious 101 by Riot Lyte: Shift "most ranked rewards" into new system Make sure people can only use the new system in the beginning "oh look but we are supporting solo players" pretty much sums up my thoughts on lyte at this point

Compared to last preseason, as a percentage of total games played, the rate of Normal Draft games vaulted by 264%, and Ranked increased by 45%. When did that happen? For the whole pre-season, or only for the last week? And compared to what? The last week before the ladder compression last year? The average number of games per week over the whole pre-season? I'd be curious to see the split between Normal Draft and Blind Pick compared to last pre-season, too. If normal draft explodes because it's notably low in the last few days before ladder compression, and a number of stacks in blind pick decided to go and play some draft to try the new system, 'cause you know, new and curious, you could easily inflate the amount of Normal Draft games by a big %. Because a broad majority of players have voiced their opinion through their engagement, we’re kicking off the 2016 Ranked Season with Dynamic Queues. That's interpreting. "These players tried the novelty thing we just rolled out, which totally means they want that to replace ranked, otherwise they would have ignored it and either not played ranked more, or not played a couple out of curiosity."

As is I'm not sure which system will win out as the main, probly dynamic since it has some flexibility. I'm guessing that is what Lyte is hoping to hence solo only.

People who enjoyed playing casually with friends can now flock into dynamic queue and take the game a tad bit more seriously, while still maintaining a casual environment. And the tryharders like me can still enjoy the only competitive playmode (aside from 5v5s) in the game. It's a bummer they shifted duo into dynamic queue, that's the biggest backstab they did to solo players, but I won't even complain about it, because the mob will just shout "YOU SAID YOU LIKE TO PLAY SOLO, SO NOW EAT DIRT!!" It will be interesting what the pros will decide on. They are the only ones who can completely ruin the solo queue (which Lyte and co. are probably speculating for), but doing so, they would make an already iffy ranked environment into a complete joke. Like, being challenger will hold no meaning for most of the players, and thus most of the "noname" challenger and master layers will prefer the solo ladder. All in all, it can be good for everyone, but there's a chance it will just straight out ruin League. Let's hope for the former.
